  1. I'm in the same boat ladies. I haven't lost anything for about a month and a half now. My scale is between 200-202. It sucks. I had to get a little unfilled last fill because I couldn't even eat a grape without it getting stuck. I can't seem to find my happy medium. We have to have faith though, I refuse to let this get me down. If it wasn't for my band I wouldn't have got as far as I did.

  4. Hey everyone! So I finally got my 3rd fill yesterday. They added 1.25 ccs so now I have a total of 6.25 ccs in my 10 cc band. I'm really feeling the restriction now! Water- I have to drink really slow or it comes up. I'm loving it! Also I've lost another 3lbs so that's always good! I'm excited again!

  5. Congrats Shelly I know you will make your goal by Wednesday!! I have my EGD tomorrow to find out why I still have left shoulder pain. Wish me luck! Also I weighed myself this morning and the scale finally moved down a little!! I really want to lose 20lbs by the 4th of July and I hope once they find out whats going on with my shoulder maybe I can get back on the horse again. I hope everyone is doing well.

  6. Hey Bandsters!!

I'm so excited to tell you what happened to me last week. One of my friends hosted a dinner to show ways to prepare healthy and nutritious food. She said that she heard about it though someone else and went to a dinner just like it and immediately thought of me since I'm banded. The “chefs” made fried chicken, mashed potatoes, corn, peas, carrots, a salad and a cake. The whole dinner was under 500 calories!!:) How do you ask?? Well it was the cookware. I'm not sure if any of you have heard of Salad Master, but if you haven't, you're truly missing out. The main points I would like to point out about it is:

    · This cookware is top-of-the-line.

    · It helps people by saving time in preparation and saving money because there's less food wasted (due to their cooking process that doesn't "shrink" food but rather cooks it in its own juices.)

    · The food is also better for you because less of the nutrients are cooked out (compared to other cookware.)

I was so intrigued by the whole thing that I decided that night to host a dinner just as my friend did. I hosted my first dinner last night with my husband's parents and a couple from my job. The dinner was such a success that I wanted to show more people. So if you live near the Fort Worth area and would like to have a free dinner so that I can show you this amazing cookware please let me know!:)

  7. Thank you Laura for doing this!! And of course I'm in, I gotta make up for the Shrinko De mayo Challenge!!! I'm setting a goal of 20 lbs and I know that's probably high but I have my wii fit, my brand new salad master cookware, and I'm getting my EGD on the 19th so I feel I have a better chance at this now!!

  8. Congrats to you Shelly on your weight loss. I do hope your careful next time though, that could've been really bad. I'm glad your ok though! And Congrats to you Babe on your NSV!!!! I'm like you have been going between 214-219 lately. No losses, and I was scheduled for my 3rd fill on the 19th but it got pushed back a week because of the EGD if have to get for my shoulder pain. I'm kinda bummed that the weight was coming off so fast in the beginning and now its just stalling. I failed my Shrinko De mayo challenge but I did lose 6 lbs total from it. I don't want it to get to me too bad, maybe I'll measure myself later. I hope you all are doing well and we must keep in touch. Later!

  9. Hello my fellow banders. So, I don't know if I should really count this as a complication but here's the story. Every time when I eat I get a really bad pain in my left shoulder. Its not like the gas pains I got when I first had the surgery this feels more like a really bad cramp, as if I slept on my shoulder wrong. So I tried to tough it out and mentioned it to my doctor my last fill. He then said to me that if I still have the pain to call him. So naturally I did and now that want to do an EGD. For those who don't know what that is, basically they're going to stick a tube down my throat to see what could be causing the problem. I'm a little scared and it sucks (1) I have to be on a liquid diet for 4 days prior and (2) I had to reschedule my 3rd fill for a week later. I know that doesn't really sound like a big deal but it is a little frustrating. I have no other problems really, I mean every now and then I do PB but its because I either ate too fast or didn't chew well other than that I eat just fine. I do hope they figure out what's wrong because that pain is really annoying and painful. Has anyone else had to do this or know anyone who has been through this? Thanks in advance!

  10. Good Morning Everyone! I'm happy to report I'm down to 215 today! That fill really did the job for me. I also finally got my wii fit this weekend. I'll be trying it out tonight when I get home from work. I'll let you all know how that goes. I don't think I'm going to make my goal of getting to 207 by May 5th but a loss is still a loss so I'mma try my best not to get too frustrated. I hope everyone else is doing good. Can't wait to hear from you all!!

  11. Hey Franny, congrats on your weight loss to date. It sounds like you have the same problem as me and I gurantee you're probably eating too fast. This is such a hard habit to break (easier said than done, I know!) One thing that has kinda helped me is to cut a small bite and when I put the food in my mouth I put my fork/spoon down! I kinda hinders the urge from wanting to put more food in my mouth while trying to get the existing down. Also make sure your bites are small! My doctor said that size should be about the size of your thumbnail and naturally chew, chew, chew. If you have tried all of that and are still having problems getting food down, then I would call your doctor. Good luck to you and keep in touch!

  12. Ok I am 7 weeks post-op. Had my 1st fill last week of 5cc's. I found out I don't tolerate Cereal w/ milk that well. Other than that though I can still eat more than the 1/4 cup of food recommended. I am worried I will stretch out my pouch. I don't eat as much as I used to that's for sure, but I am able to eat more than I would like. Do any of your really only eat 1/4 cup of food per meal???

    Thank you for posting this!!

  13. Damn a 14??? Thats awesome! I havnt seen that size since I was 18 lol. The scale still has not BUDGED!!! I am so frustrated! Even after the fill I can still eat more than 1/4 cup of food. I don't eat as much as I did before the fill but it's aggravating me. I think I need to start keeping track of inches because I definitly feel the loss in my thigh's and waist and arms. My clothes are baggy in those areas. I started up my exercise again today, I had been falling off because they switched my work schedule n I just havn't gotten back on track yet. I also need to buy more Protein powder....I think once I do that the pounds will start to come off again...ugh...

    Mrs. Mauricio-

After my fill, they said I should only be able to eat a total of 4 oz. for each meal, and I know I can eat way more than that. I basically have been trying to stay between 4-6 oz of food and eat a lot more often so that I'm not starving. And yes get more protein!

hey all, totally bummed about my weight. i have not lost again this week and it is making me physically depressed. when i see the scale w/the same number my heart just drops. i cannot believe that even with surgery i am still not losing weight. i should have had gastric bypass. who was i kidding to think this would work:sad: i am working out and walking like crazy. i am eating 1200-1500 kcal and NOTHING. god am i disgusted!!!!

Iwalktheline- I'm really sorry to hear you're still not losing. I have a few suggestions that may help. I see that you are working out and eating less, however are you getting your required Protein in? I've noticed everytime I don't get my protein in, that's when I stall in my weight loss.

Have you been checking your inches too? You may not be losing weight but you may be losing inches, remember muscle weighs more than fat.

I'm not going to say anything bad about gastric bypass, considering it has worked with some people, but there are people who weren't successful on gastric and some who lost the weight and then gained it back. They also run the risk of mal nutrition and if they don't eat right they can also stretch their stomach. Personally, I feel the band is a much safer alternative and a bigger plus is that it's reversible.

Another suggestion is with your workouts, what are you doing? And how long are you working out for? I've read in a lot of places that when it comes to working out that you should switch it up because your body will get used to it and you will not lose. I found a very interesting article that might help you and anyone else that is struggling:

Do you ever wonder what the difference is between the "fat burning zone" and the "cardio training zone"? Surely you've seen these diagrammed in some way on cardio equipment, and perhaps you've noticed that the fat burning zone is an easier zone to work out in.But when you work harder and get your heart rate up higher, the zone becomes "cardio training," or "athletic training," and no longer "fat burning." So in an attempt to lose weight, you make sure to remain walking, stepping or pedaling comfortably in that fat burning zone.

But have you ever wondered how it is, that exercising harder burns LESS fat? How can this be? This shouldn't make any sense. You've probably heard that a greater percentage of fat is burned during the fat burning zone, which is also known as the aerobic burning zone. So surely, the best way to melt off fat is to stay in that fat burning zone, and to make sure you don't get too out of breath or too worked up, right?

    WRONG.

The fat burning zone, indeed, burns a greater PERCENTAGE of fat, relative to total calories burned. But the higher intensity cardio or athletic training zone burns more TOTAL calories for the same length of time. This means that the total amount of fat that's burned with these calories, actually comes out higher than the total fat burned during easier "fat burning" work.

Let's do the math. Suppose on Monday, you use the elliptical trainer machine for 60 minutes. You stay within that target heart rate that correlates to the fat burning zone. You burn a total of, let's say, 200 calories. I choose 200 here arbitrarily, just for mathematical purposes. Everyone's metabolism is different, and calorie readouts on machines are based on an average-height, 150 pound male. You may be a 5-2, 170 pound female. So keep in mind the mathematical concept here, rather than how many calories your particular body might burn up in 60 minutes. So, you burn 200 calories in 60 minutes in the fat burning zone. Now, about 50 percent of those calories will be fat. 50 percent of 200 is 100. Remember that: You've burned 100 calories of fat.

Now, let's say on Wednesday, you get on the same machine, but train in the cardio zone. You pedal faster at a higher pedal resistance. You drip sweat. You hear yourself breathing hard. You huff and puff. After 60 minutes, you've burned 300 calories.

In cardio zone training, about 40 percent of the calories burned will be fat. Note: 40 percent is a smaller number than 50 percent. HOWEVER...what's 40 percent of the 300 calories that were burned? It's 120! Your total fat-calories burned were 120! This is 20 percent MORE fat burned, than what you did in your fat burning session on Monday!

    'Nuff said.

I really hope that article may shed a little light too.

Now I'm not trying to sound like I know everything or that I'm being the perfect bandster (God knows I'm not!! lol), all the information I share is from stuff I've read and what I've been expierencing so far.

Please don't get discouraged and remember we all have to be each others support. Keep on trying and don't give up! I can't wait until next year this time when we've all hopefully have got to our goal or are really close and we can look back at these posts and see how far we've came! Hugs!!

  14. Good morning my friends -) Babe congrats on your fill! I wonder what makes them decide what size band to give everyone. I have a 10 cc band. Anyways, after stalling for two weeks I finally lost 2 more lbs and I have 9 more lbs to go to make my goal for the shrinko de mayo challenge. Also for a non scale victory, I went to burlington coat factory and I fit into a size 14 pair of jeans!! They're a little snug, but I can zip them up!!
