    Family Photos

Wow ! You look like a model! Thanks for sharing! A true inspiration! I have my surgery on 1/12 and think that a family portrait is a great reward when I near goal. Thanks again!
  3. I have been using the premade Slim Fast Optima for the first week, and now my Optifast shakes are in. My Dr. doesn't care which ones, but to me both are tasty - I mix them with ice in the blender. I do find I am less hungry on the optifast. Good luck!

    I need HELP...Please!

Good luck to you! I live near you, but am having my surgery next week at NYU. The documentation depends on your insurance. I have cigna and was shocked that even after the 6 month medically supervised weight loss program, I needed to provide a 2 year history. I called up my many weight loss dr.'s that I had worked with and failed and asked for my records. They had them and they worked! Good luck to you and keep us posted!
  5. Hi, Just checking in to see how the January 12th bandsters are doing on their pre-op diets? I am doing great! The first 2 days were very tough for me, and then the third day I did cheat ( it was New Years Eve and I was at a party and had 2 slices of meat and a glass of champagne). I got back on track and have lost 10 lbs ! It is amazing! I am so excited for 1/12! I will admit that I can see how some people might question why to go through surgery when losing so well on the pre-op. I do know though, that I couldn't sustain this diet, and of course I'd gain everything back and then some for good measure the minute I went off the pre-op. So, indeed, I am looking forward to the band, but am happy to be starting at least 10 lbs lighter than I was last Sunday. Wonder what I will lose this week? This week will be different for me, as I will be back at work. The temptations are more there, but, I am busier there too. How is everyone else feeling? Can you believe that this time next week we will be less than 24 hrs away from surgery? Can't wait!

    January '09 banders

Thinking of all the January banders! I have my surgery a week from today, and am so excited! It has been a long journey - nearly 18 months to get to this point! The preop diet is very motivation, and I am down 11 lbs since last Monday! Hoping everyone is doing well !

    January 12th bandsters

I haven't gotten my surgery time yet, but .... this time next week all of our January 12thers, will be either finished with surgery or just hours away from it! Can't wait! How is every one doing? I am having a hard time "finding" everyone on this board, as there are so many options to click on. Also, if anyone cares to tell me how to put a ticker on the signature line, I would really appreciate it. Thanks!

    Hi all from newyork

Welcome! I too am in NY, and I guess people would refer to me as a 'business woman'. I am having my surgery next week at NYU. Where do you plan on having your surgery, or have you had it already?

To tell or not to tell?!?

Quite honestly, I don't want my weight to be a topic of discussion at work, amongst my friends, etc. I want to do what I need to do and if for what ever reason it goes slower than I hope, well, I don't want to have to explain to everyone why it isn't just dropping off. I also know that so many people look for reasons to 'knock' one's achievements, and know that I'd hear " Well she didn't do it on her own, she had surgery". People are judgmental, and although I am very open about much of my life, my weight is very sensitive, and I don't care to share. I have told no one at work and will advise simply that I have to have a "procedure," which will keep me out of the office a week. For me, I am happy with my decision, and so far on the pre-op liquids, have been able to sail through without any questions. When my family has gone out to dinner with another family, I ordered a big salad, and pushed it around the bowl. At the end of the meal when someone asked if I liked the salad, I said, "You, know, I just wasn't very hungry, I guess I'll take it to go". My husband got my salad for lunch the next day!
  11. Today is day 4 for my preop diet... I am on 3 -4 shakes a day and can have 2 cups of steamed or raw vegtables - -- Last night though... I had a slice of turkey, a slice of ham, and...1 glass of champagne. I am mad at myself, yet, also sort of amazed that, that was my only slip up! I will tell my surgeon, but am hoping that since I still have over 10 days of the preop diet I will be ok for surgery. How did others do last night?

    Pre-Op Dietiers...last night?

Restless Monkey Thanks for your post! I appreciate it and have read previous posts from you on this subject! I intend to be 100% flawless for the remaining days of my preop diet - - (counted wrong this a.m.), as there are 12 more days not 10. I found today quite easy to follow the liquids to the 't' and am hopeful I can keep my eye on the goal until 1/12, as it would be a nightmare to be told that my liver was too fatty and they couldn't do surgery. Thanks again, and wishing you a Happy and Skinny New Year.

    January '09 banders

Hi - I am having my lap band surgery on 1/12 at NYU, by Dr. Ren. I am so excited for this surgery! I started my preop liquid diet yesterday and while it is pretty tough...I can see the end!

    January 12th bandsters

I am 45 - -soon to be 46. I have been married 11 years and have twin boys who just turned 6. I started the process over a year ago. I went to a seminar and learned that my insurance would require a 6 month medically supervised weight loss program. It took me 6 months to get my act together to see a Dr. who would supervise me. Finally after 6 months with him, and another month of gathering paperwork, I had my consult with Dr. Ren @ NYU. I had my preop testing on 12/22 and started my preop diet today, 12/29. I've been up and down during the 6 months -- started at 248 and am now at 240 today. I hope to lose 100 lbs. Love to keep in touch with the other 12thers - as I know as we get closer...13 days today, I will be getting very nervous!
  15. All I can think about is, 'How am I going to make it for 13 more days?" It has only been 4 hours since I woke up! I am off work this week, so I have more time on my hands than usual! :tongue2: I need to get moving and do something to get my mind off of this ! I know it is purely psychological, as there are many days that I don't have anything to eat until lunch time, and already today, I;ve had a shake, a cup of tea and some crystal light! I have a question - has anyone begun a mild workout program during the preop diet? I have a membership at a gym ( pay everymonth but never use) and am thinking it might be a good distraction to do some light cardio. Of course I am looking for an excuse, and am afraid it might make me hungry! Does anyone have any thoughts on this? I am SO excited for 1/12/09! NYU - Dr. Ren Also - can anyone point me in the right direction for putting a ticker on my signature?
  16. Betsygirl.... Thanks for your reply! Where are you having your surgery? I think it would be tough to work nights, as I would always think that if I felt tired, a cookie or something would help me stay up. Good luck tonight! We can do it!
  17. Good Luck! I am looking forward to hearing how it goes! You are in my thoughts ! I will be banded on 1/12

    Hi

Hi Wayne, The six months will feel like a long time at first, and then, like me, you will be starting your pre-op diet - - I start my preop tomorrow, after starting with a medically supervised weight loss program in April 08. I have surgery scheduled on 1/12, with Dr. Ren, at NYU. I see you are in NY - -where do you plan to have the procedure done? Good luck!
