  1. I know it sounds crazy, who'd have thought-cabbage? My friend is skinny so she tells me a lot of her low cal tips now that I feel like listening!
  2. I don't like the word restriction either, just like I don't like tool. I don't know what else to call it .....how bout "prevention" I have prevention from gorging today. LOL
  3. That's hilarious.
  4. You know.......if you drink a teaspoon of vinegar it is supposed to restore the proper acid balance to your stomach and cure heartburn......Think of it like a shot of tequila....and follow it with a sip of tomato juice to kill the taste in your mouth!!! Also, my doctor has said to watch heartburn as it could be a sign of being filled too much, but since you had it before the band I would personally try the vinegar first
  5. Melody, I agree and think the carb thing is true for all of us, but most just don't realize. Perhaps this is why our doctors tell us Protein shakes, eat protein first, because they know it will take the protein to kill the cravings
  6. I think the lapband is COMPLETELY misrepresented, starting with the commercial. I most certainly did not learn the real facts about it from the doctors! Not even close! If my band never does more for me than it is currently, I also would say it's "NOT WORKING", because it's definitely not doing what $20k TOOL is advertised to do. I am doing the work and I have absolute and complete control over my results. I would also like to point out something that recently came to the forefront of my mind, about why we have to do a lot of the work, because this is misunderstood, myself included at first-- People lose weight differently. My husband, for example, can drop carbs and lose 20# in a month. Me, I have to rev up my metabolism and eat 5-6 small meals a day to lose ....and maybe Judy has to exercise more or Jane has to "eat right for her body type", etc, to get the fat burning process started. True, the lapband alone probably will cause us to lose some weight, but for many of us that isn't enough to lose a ton. I think if we realize that the goal is to firestart fat burning, we might then see the band for what it really is.
  7. I'm betting you will have no problem finding a surgeon to do the surgery for cash, even with a 35.x BMI
  8. Well.....for me I think during TOM I was not tight at all!! Then the day after....marked difference in tightness, much more tight. Very weird.
  9. I like Pure Protein Cookies N Creme. Get them at Target. I don't care for Muscle Milk or most others actually
  10. That's so strange.....but kinda cool too!
  11. BCBS stated I must have a psyche eval, dietician eval and medical eval as requirements to authorize lapband surgery. So I did as instructed, and a month later what do I get in the mail? BCBS DENIES the psyche eval as "no authorization obtained!" Then they wouldn't give me the auth because it would be retroactive! Wow, that's serious BS! Also, the EOB said "I'm not repsonsible because the preferred doctor did not get auth and should have known" so I called BCBS and while on the phone the rep apparently changed her mind and decided that "It is my responsibility" . I've had BCBS Fed for 9 years and never a problem, but now I'm ticked! I'm gonna pay the doctor anyway, just because it's just not right. A$$holes.
  12. I sometimes feel weird about having a foreign object in me so I kinda get that feeling of just wanting it out! I feel bad that it didn't work out for you because I'm sure this is not what you hoped for back in 2007 when you had it done
  13. What in the world? Got my first fill early Feb, felt restricted for a a couple weeks, then it was gone, POOF! Felt like I could eat anything and everything. Now, since yesterday I am suddenly restricted again. How weird is that? I feel like this band is like my back door, it swells up and gets stuck in humid weather, but contracts when it's cold.!!! LOL
  14. That is awesome advice. A great Southern Belle knows just how to tell someone to kiss her a$$ without them even knowing it!
  15. You're 2 months and 20 pounds ahead of me. I will be THRILLED if I've lost another 20 lbs by the time I'm 5 months out. I am only losing a few pounds a month, I wish it was faster but considering I have a hard time drinking my water and don't exercise much, it's okay. I think you've done GREAT. Tell the BF to clamp it. That's what I tell my husband if he even STARTS to look or open his mouth about what I'm going to eat. LOL
  16. Thanks it sounds great! I have a head of cabbage in the fridge that needs a recipe
  17. As I sit here eating a piece of chicken, I am laughing that you somehow misconstrued this post to mean I am on a cabbage diet. Whatever!
  18. Yeah I gotta agree, Nutri system is not very good! I purchased it on auto ship/pay and after spending about $800 bucks I realized OMG, This is so nasty so I sold it to someone for $100--she probably didn't eat it either! I get Michelina's Lean Gourmets....or Green Giant boxes of veges....much much cheaper , easier and tastes better! A great lunch that's portion controlled....but Nutri System....Never again!!!
  19. What?!?!?!?! You don't want to get me started..........LOL
  20. Question on getting stuck: Does this or can this occur if you are not fully restricted or at sweet spot yet? Because this happens to me occasionally but I don't feel that I'm near optimal fill level yet. Thanks guys
  21. Tell them all to go you know where!!.......and when you HAVE lost the weight--which you will--they will be singing a different tune. Guaranteed.
  22. Reverie is right, stats are skewed all the time.......I know they say to expect to lose 40-50% of excess weight only, but everyone I know who's had this has lost ALL their excess weight, including my friend who started at over 300 lbs,. Now keeping it off--another matter, 3 of 4 are still slim 2-3 years out..and the 4th has gained some back, but she also has not kept up with fills beyond year 1.
  23. I know butter has a lot of calories, but I refuse to buy margarine. It's like spreading plastic onto your bread. LOL
  24. I'm not sure why you're attacking Dave. I wouldn't consider it "hanging onto" a memory by simply responding to a post who's subject was specifically about internet trolls who use posts to say mean and angry things directly to and about other posters. hmmmmm........
