  1. wow oscar this was a great idea...i've always wondered about what i will do about eating mom's cooking once i get the band....im mixed with black and flip...mom is from manila but has been here in the states since 76...but anyways i would really like to know which or what type of our foods can we still consume while banded, b/c I'm already facing the fact that i can no longer eat white rice anymore....so to all my fellow filipinos fill me in on this matter!!! Salamat!!!
  2. i hear u...i just finished my 90 day prep required by aetna and im nervous as hell about being denied...i keep daydreaming to the future...so i will fell jus like u would if i was denied...crushed...!!! but i do know there are possibilities to appeal....my insurance case mgr should be submitting to my insurance on this tues coming up...so im hoping i know something atleast by 5/15...im hoping to have surgery early june....
  3. thats great!!! what insurance do u have?
  4. to be honest i care more about inches than pounds...hell if i could still be a height of 5'6 and weigh 250lbs but fit into a size 12 i would be happy as hell!!! but that aint reality...lol my goal weight is 170 at the least, i still want meat on my bones..jus porportioned.....so for u to have gone from a 22w to a 14 is awesome girl!!!! ur still loosing "fat" if ur going down on dress sizes.... so u shouldnt trip about the scale. the day i can fit a 14 i will probably drop to my knees and thank god...
  5. oh my goodness....i just replied to ur other thread...but i know see ur problem.....have u tried going to a major hospital in AZ and visiting their bariatrics division or something....im assuming if its a major hospital...they wont deny u of assistance regardless if they did ur surgery or not.......u definitely need to take action asap!! sounds like u been dealing with the pain for almost 5 mnths now.
  6. well im not in AZ so i couldnt help with doc referrals, but i see u said u are having alot of problems...is everything ok??? are u in pain?? I would be so upset, if i was having problems with my band and i was being refused it could bejust b/c they weren't the ones that got paid the big bucks for the procedure..... they seem to not be lookin at the big picture of their whole reason for being a doctor in this field...
  7. yes i have heard of it, and i have actually experienced eating it...i visited my aunt in miami and we went to a place that sold all natural things like hand made soap, jewelry...and of course fresh raw fruits and veggie dishes....i will admit it was a bit of a culture shock...lol but i stuck to veggies that i already liked.....i would definitely consider having raw foods apart of my diet...but not solely....oh and one good thing about raw foods is that it goes right through u so i would highly recommend to eat those things to promote regular bowel movements and i know with the band that could be an issue....
  8. unfortunately i dont have any advice yet b/c im not yet banded, but i do travel alot usually every 90 days..b/c my hubby is in ohio for a lil bit... just north east'sh of cincy..but anyways i was wondering about travel and things like amusement parks....u know when ur on a rollercoaster.....i wonder if i will be able to still enjoy those and that the seatbelt wont mess up my port or something....I would also like to meet banded people in ohio preferrably the cincy or columbus area that could tell me of band doc's just incase of an emergency occurs while im out there on visits.
  9. congrats girl.....bless ya and good luck with the surgery and recovery!
  10. im so glad i found this post i too have aetna pos II and i have actually gained weight since my initial visit..im on the 90 day thing, but since i started and in dec 08 but skipped jan im having to do my final appt tomorrow.....but when i went to the initial visit on 12/21/08 i was 244 a bmi of exactly 40.0 so yea i aint gonna lie i knew that if i followed that 90 day thing with eating right and exercise daily i would loose and fall below 40 so i got on a "i will never get to eat like this again" binge and i have gained about 6lbs...since 12/31 to the present, which puts me at a bmi of 41 so im praying they approve me even with a slight weight gain in 4 mnths...and for the fact that i missed a month....but made it up by extending to april. Also my case mgr told me that aetna didnt require psych eval...that was up to the surgeon...i read on the aetna website that only if an individual has a history of psychological mishaps is when they would require a psych eval. and so far the surgeons office told me dr. marsden doesnt require it also.....so my last visit is tomorrow....and hopefully i will know something by 5/10/09!!
  11. who did ur surgery? im in texas also so im curious also did u advise the doc office about what's going on... bc after five fills I would think u would have lost more than 32lbs.... I hope u get this resolved and surgery doesn't have to occur again for u
  12. ok so do u live in the philippines or are u in the states???? I tried checkin.. out ur profile to see where u resided but it was blank but if u live back home then I really understand why u would want other flips to respond because ur concerned with the cost of it over in the philippines.....i didn't even know they did that procedures over there
  13. Congrats and good luck texsue...just wishing u the best from a fellow dfw prospective bander!!!
  14. hi there im black and filipino and I haven't had the surgery yet but I will be submitting for insurance approval in about less than a week.... everyone here on this site is pretty helpful...any particular reason why u jus want filipinos to reply???? to be honest there isn't many on her....iso I would definitely get all the advice from ANYONE who is willing to give it to ya... good luck
  15. im not banded yet yall, but im concerned that when my dh is "working it" it will tamper with my band......lol b/c when we do it...WE DO IT! has anyone experienced the port being tampered with during sex...or is it hard to do all the different or certain positions....im soo worried....b/c loosing our great sex spunk is the last thing i want to loose!
  16. good job girl....ur looking good.....if u dont mind me asking what does ur daily diet consist of......do u cook ur meals..do u just do the quick prepackaged meals or what...im not banded yet...but i will admit i hate cooking....so im just trying to see what other successful banders are doing
  17. I know for a fact uhc choice plus doesnt require any 6 mnth nor a 3mnth diet before surgery, infact i used to have the plan, but at that time lapband wasnt on my mind i was trying to do it by myself, then when my company merged with jmpc...i coincidently decided to get the band..well jpmorgan deals with aetna here in dfw,tx so when i found out that i had to do a 3 mnth supervised diet when i could of gotten approved instantly with uhc i literally beat myself up!!! and i would of only had to pay 100 bucks for the whole thing....now im mostly gonna have to pay my 2k out of pocket maxium with aetna.....!!!
  18. OMG carbgrl...i wish u the best of luck during and after the surgery..like u i have never had surgery...so please let me know how it goes for u..and how u felt, etc!!!
  19. hey yall im with true results/lap band solutions also but im doing dr marsden he does the dallas and hurst location, but i go to the hurst office..i was just wondering...do u know about how much they charge for the procedure if insurance pays...b/c i have aetna pos II 100 and it covers 90% so i know im gonna have to pay a little something towards this surgery im just wondering what price range should i expect..1k 2k or 3k, and if they want the money up front..so i can start saving up...i still havent go approved but that time is only less than 30 days away....
  20. thanks amy good luck to u too girl!! hopefully around the time of ur surgery ill be getting approved for it...
  21. amy who is the company ur working with??? im with lapband solutions/true results..they offices in hurst and n. dallas....i was just wondering if we were dealing with the same people so i can be prepared for these same issues!!
  22. yes guys im guilty of gaining weight during these past 3 mnths of my pcp doc visits..usually its been a gain the 5-7 lbs of my original weigh in at my 1st consultation which was 243 and now im at 250...my bmi is right at 40 at 243...and im scared to loose weight so i have been trying to get in some pounds to get to like 41...but now im wondering if they would deny me for gaining....1 point on my bmi.....if so....ill try to do a lil fast/speed diet to help me loose these 5lbs before my final doc visit on 4/30...just wanted to know if anyone was denied or approved with a weight gain showing on file. thanks!!! i also skipped a month on this 90 day thing...so i ended up having to prolong this stuff to 4/30 to make up for the month i missed in jan, which will be my 4th visit required...did anyone skip a month but make it up and still got approved...?
  23. THANK YOU parrotheadcathy for this great info....i will definitely take this advice!!
  24. hey amy!! im in arlington....i was wondering who u were doing ur lapband with?? im with trueresults/lapband solutions..im required to do the 90 day thing by aetna...so i still have one more doc appt and 1 more nutritional to do for the month of april...so im guessing my case manager wont submit my stuff until the first of may.......did u have to do any of those requirements before they were able to submit ur request for the band??? i hear some people saying that their coordinator submit the request even before they finished all of the appts.....im just soo worried that im paying all this money for the doc/nutritional visits...and then aetna turns around and deny's me....i wil be so crushed!!!
  25. hi kgloverii, i was wondering if u were able to tell me what maybe causes that..b/c im not yet banded yet, but i do travel every 30-90 days.....so now im a little concerned...
