  1. @angrybaby, Im a fast eater too honey, Im half asian, and my whole asian side eats FAST!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol And I do some of the tricks you do, and I take a bite then i get online or get up move around and do something right quick, then ill go back and take another bite so on and so forth. I also do what another person said on here and that is once you get stuck over and over u tend to learn to slow down, but honestly your trick that u do works better for me aswell. When i go out to dinner with my friends im like a snail, b/c im in the process of feeling the food out to see if its gonna be good to me while im in public..b/c believe it or not even with my friends who are naturally slow eaters im 10x's slower at eating a meal then they are, to the point that its get obvious to the waiter, or other people at the table who aren't aware of my band.....
  2. Dr. Fred Maese (pronounced mace-ee), he is a heart doctor that also does lap band fills, he is not a lap band surgeon, but an after care doctor along with his main practice of heart health. He has 2 offices, one in N. Dallas, off of Preston Rd. and Northwest Hwy ph# 214-234-0330 at this time he does fills @ that location on Mon and Thurs. The other location is in Farris, Tx which is going south on I-45, past city of Hutchins. That locations ph#972-842-3911 he only performs fills Tues and Friday's at the Farris Office. All of his fills are performed with fluro's completed either before or after the fill is done, but never while he is inserting the fill. I go to both locations depending on my schedule at the time I need a fill. I have Aetna ppo insurance and my copay is only 40.00 but that is my price based on my insurance, everyone's is different.
  3. hey deb, i wasnt really having symptoms...i mean i was able to sneak in more solid foods...at times...without it coming back up, but i always get my fills done under xray....so thats how it was really detected...they call it "early signs of a stretch"
  4. Yes im thankful i caught it early!! im on my 2nd day of liquids..and soo far soo good!
  5. THanks Betz!! QUOTE=BetsyB;1414214]I don't have experience with it, but wanted to say I'm sorry you're facing this. 30 days of liquids would be so hard to take!
  6. Ok, So I went in for a fill today, and was advised that i have EARLY stages of slippage, etc etc...the pouch is still within the parameters of the band, but i need to fix it now while its early...so they tell me to do a 30 day liquid diet!!! WTH??!! I still got a fill of .2 bringing me to 7cc, b/c believe it or not the 7cc ranges is where i get my sweet spot. I was once at 7.9, but was too tight, resulting in an unfill of what i thought was .3, but ended up being 1.4cc now i have to work my way back up..well anyways i am just wondering if anyone has experienced this and did the liquid diet for less than 30 days and had their problem fixed. Im just being realistic...i can do a 2 week liquid maybe 2 1/2, but 4 weeks???!!! im like in shock!!! lol I will post a picture of the stretched pouch in my album today, so yall can see and get an idea of what im working with... Any tips, ideas, and experiences of your own are very appreciated!! Thanks
  7. Alot of you all listed some great tips...but something that i loved to eat before banding is now hard to eat.....VEGETABLES....which ones are the least hard on the band...i love broccoli but cannot do it anymore....i need to up my veggie intake but i haven't had luck with them going down easy even when i do chew chew....can someone advise me which ones are easy on them....thanks!!
  8. i finally made this recipe and oh my it is delicious and it does help me with my sweet cravings. But with the exact ingredients that the thread starter put down.....i used those ingredients and one serving of this is already 440 calories yikes!! So im going to have to adjust some of the ingredients, whether its changing to skim milk, and or doing just one Tsp of the peanut butter..
  9. olive garden was my hot spot before banding..and til this day it is. but unfortunately i have been too scared to even try pasta there especially in public so i just stick to about 2 bowls of my favorite ZUPPA TOSCANA soup and maybe half of a breadstick....!!!
  10. 40 lbs...yea that isnt much to loose compare to the normal goal of many wls patients...how much did u need to loose before surgery?
  11. 2911, im right there with u....i was banded 6/19, with no fill...and i just started feeling hard core restriction after this last fill of .7 on 9/24 which brought me to 7cc's in my 10cc lap band ap band. i thought i was the only one who didnt really fell restriction half way through the band size...but i see ur experiencing it too...im 3 months out and have lost a total of of like 27-31 lbs since surgery....and believe me i was expecting to loose that in a month or two not 3 months...but im having to really tell myself that it takes time and that im not the same as everyone else....i was just barely at 90lbs overweight when i had surgery so i sometimes wonder if its taking its time b/c i wasnt like 150lbs or more overweight...heck i dont know... i have been working out atleast 4x's a week....and i have noticed my jeans are looser on me...in the waist area...but my damn thighs are what i want to shrink as well...im currently at 223 as of this morning...so my goals are gonna just be 10 at a time...its seems easier that way then lookin at it as needing to drop another 60... As far as my foods i still pretty much eat what i like...before surgery i pretty much ate alot or Protein and veggies, but i over did the portion sizes and i wasnt active at all. i do love sweets....so that has been a struggle trying to juggle...if i do eat a sweet i have to eat it early in the day...i have no problem with shrimp but i do with white meat (chicken) and ham, whether its deli style or thanksgiving style...those things get stuck it hurts soo bad. I was also a fast eater before banding....i blame it on being half asian lol...even though most asians are small..they scarf down their food....i mean they eat at the speed of light....and i have had to really slow down and take the time to chew or else i will get stuck like chuck..and i just don't want to feel those pains anymore....before this last fill i was really starting to regret getting the band b/c i wasnt feeling restriction..but this last fill almost has me at that spot....i even now feel that whole morning tightness that everyone talks about since this last fill...so we just gotta be patient and give it time.....we're not even 6 months out yet...so i think we should give it 6-8 months after banding and if we still haven't lost a sufficient amt...then thats when we can really began to fuss..... :seeya:
  12. Thank you for your encouragement and words of wisdom from your experience....i go for a fill this thursday and hopefully i can get a 1 cc...b/c i start thinkin bout food like after 2-3 hours on most days...
  13. Ok well im pushin 3 months out..and i have had 4 fills.....and generous ones at that...im extremely upset b/c im already at 6.3cc's in my 10cc band and im still eating more than i should and as often as i shouldn't.....im wondering if my reason for not being restricted yet is due to the fact that i surprisingly didn't have much fat around my stoma as most obese individuals do...I feel that restriction is near in about the next 1cc or so, but i just can't believe im halfway through the band and not feeling that fullness after a half cup of food....now, i have experienced things getting stuck with dry chicken breast, baked ham (thanksgiving style) and even deli ham...but i have not yet experienced pb'ing or acid reflux, etc. and don't plan on it. But sometimes i feel like those negative symptoms are the only signs that will assure me i am tight. I feel like a straight up pig, b/c this tool is supposed to keep me from wanting to eat, but hell im still hungry and im still thinkin about food at 6.3cc's. the weight loss has been very slow so that doesn't help the situation. Please if there is anyone who has experienced having to be filled at 75% or more until feeling true restriction, i would really appreciate your input and advice. thanks
  14. Yes mam, it is possible for you to get a fill every two weeks, but its only if you surgeon allows you to. I myself do get fills every two weeks b/c my surgeon allows it. I'm actually going for my 4th fill this thurs...hopefully i can get a 1cc's im currently at 5.95cc's in my 10cc band, and i feel restriction b/c i have had a few stuck episodes, but i still get hungry and i can still eat a full size meal like 8-9oz of food which is the typical size of a lean cuisine meal. I am too frustrated like u....ive lost about 26lbs since surgery date, but i dont really feel i have lost inches.....i know its due to me not exercise on a consistent basis, but geez why is it that some don't have to lift a finger and can loose 15lbs in a month and some inches...but me....im pushin at around 8-10lbs a month since i had the surgery but dont really see it....
  15. congrats to you...now that you got that weight off your shoulder now you can focus on gettin the REAL WEIGHT off...!!! im only a month and half out from being banded and its a tough road but no big regrets about doing it soo far...i too have aetna pos II and i remember the days worrying that i would be denied....now im taking advantage of my insurance b/c i have met my out of pocket max for the year so until the last day of this year all my medical expenses that in aetna network are free, so you better believe im getting xray fills every month and and doing other medical maintainences....lol!!
  16. hmmm i never heard of gowear fit.....i guess i will start doing research on it...is it pretty pricey like the body bugg??
  17. thank you soooo much special k......u really broke it down for me in a way that makes sense!!!!
  18. yes it does make sense.....thank you for ur advice....
  19. I wonder this because im getting a little frustrated with myself as to if the band is working atleast a little bit....i will admit i do feel a tad bit of pressure in my chest here and there but usually because i eat too fast or drink too fast...I dont have restriction but every time i think im doing wrong whether i eat to fast or too much i dont really get pain....ill try to take deep breaths as a test to see if i feel pain, but i haven't yet.... I'm still early in the band stage, but i can still eat more than 4oz of food. Im wondering if i would be able to feel things if they were to A. get stuck or B. not go through the band and just sit in the pouch. To get a better idea of what i can eat, I can still take a lean cuisine (8oz) sized meal (which after that i can still consume more on most days). And I have not yet had the urge to vomit, or pb/slime...so im guessing everything IS going through the band right??? Or could food be sitting in my pouch for days??? Im just confused on what im supposed to be feeling...and what exactly are symptoms of bad reactions with the band and good reactions with the band.... Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  20. well i wish i had a good story like all of yall but i have been banded since 6/19 and was hungry 2 days after...ive only lost 7lbs since surgery and have been bouncing between 246-244...im totally pissed b/c it will be a month tomorrow and i havent lost nothing...im soo angry...i started exercising today..i got my first fill on 7/15 they put 3cc's b/c i had absolutely nothing in my band....my surgeon told me the reason why i was soo hungry so fast because i didnt have much fat around my stomach so the band was very loose......he sd he regrets not filling me the day of surgery...but oh well let by gones be by gones....hell im gonna admit i dont know what the hell full feels likes...and i usually eat about 8oz of food at a time..b/c i just dont get full after 4oz of food.....my tummy looks like it has swelled up since i had the sugery...my port pain disappeared after 2 wks post op but after my first fill im having continuous discomfort at my port site....i feel it more when i bend over......i just cant believe i had weight loss surgery and have only lost 7lbs in a month....hell when i did a weight loss regimen on my own....or weight watchers i lost atleat a full 10 the first month!!!! AAAARGGGHHHH ok i guess i got the venting out the way!!!!
  21. thank you guys for clearing that up for "ALFUSO" as that was an ignorant comment, for your info im almost 5'6 so thats when my 175lbs is a 12...thanks again everyone for putting ur upmost logical inputs in!!
  22. O thank goodness u replied to this thread miss b....bc the way u felt when u first got banded is the way i feel.....no restriction and i have cheated with a couple things portion wise....but i see u have lost 78lbs since surgery so i see there is hope....as the original person said, i tool feel like i have stretched my pouch over one overeating session..which was half of a deli lettuce wrap with cheese and ham....no bread included....but i kinda ate i fast and i immediately felt sickish..so i stopped...but now i still feel miserable as that was like 6 hours ago..so im glad that im still full but other than that meal i still am soo hungry..and im kinda fighting with myself on whether its head hunger of if im really hungry...
  23. Hey mia...i know how u feel...i was banded on 6/19 and was hungry pretty much the next day...i basically fought it b/c of the fact that i was in soo much pain, and that is what encouraged me to no cheat. I did have a slice of turkey 4 days post op....unfortunately u will have to fight it...i mean u can try some real good broths but i dont know what u like...i actually had nothing but Jello, sugar free fudgesicles and some homemade asian style beef broth that i loved even before the band...but once day 5 came i started eating things like turkey slices but it would be one small slice every 4 hours or something and i had a few grapes here and there ....i was sooo hungry the only pain i still had by day five was port pain from the heals of the port being stitched on my abdominal walls..but i didnt have any dizzy or nausea feelings after day 4....now im pretty much back on semi solid foods.....and i have no restriction so im having to battle with self discipline right now...and it sucks. My doc's orders do allow me to proceed with semi solids and mushies after 7 days so im just trying to stick with good choices.....lots of veggies like spinach...i had shrimp, shredded beef with veggies and half of a bunless sandwhich with lettuce in place of the bread more like a lettuce wrap...those are the few things i have been eating since i have been back to regular foods.. I hope things get better for u and u get the feeling that ur aiming for aswell as im wishing for myself too.....
  24. hey jamie, thanks for ur support..but yes the same thing u just described about the red around the incisions is whats happening to me..and they're puffy, i put on some prescription rash ointment tht my doc prescribed me for my mile eczema so hopefully that will work...my incisions are doing good for the most part, they seem to be sealed up pretty tightly...i appreciate ur input again......thank u!:tongue2:
