  1. I will be laying in the OR at 7:30 tomorrow morning....all I can say is I hope and pray this is the right thing for me. I've been very confident in my desicion up until the last few days, now suddenly it seems like every post I read is someone complaining about their band. Please keep in touch I'd love to have some great folks to commiserate with!! Good Luck to us ALL!! ~Monica
  2. WoooHoooo!!!! Congrats Kellie!!! I really needed to see your post...I'm haveing my surgery tomorrow morning and it seems like for the past 4 days every single post I've read has been negative and ppl saying how they just are getting the results they expected. Thank you SOOOO much for sharing I really needed to hear this today!! ~Monica
  3. Cindy, I'm thrilled to hear you are feeling so well so quickly...I don't know what your secret is, but I would be much obliged if you would share it...LOL I hope things keep moving in a positive direction for you!! ~Monica
  4. GOOD LUCK GOOD LUCK GOOD LUCK!!!!! I'm two days behind you and I can relate to how excited you are. I wish you a fast recovery with the bare minimum of pain!! I hope you feel up to posting after surgery so I will know what I have to look forward to. Happy Thoughts ~Monica
  5. My girlfriend (who's banded) put it to me like this..... consider your band to be like a gym membership that comes and drags you off the couch and forces you to participate!! I am having a realize band on 3/26 (3 days away) I'm looking forward to my new life, can't get here soon enough for me!
  6. I have to second you on this one.... I have had a number of ppl tell me that I don't look like I "need" surgery or when I tell them I'm having a band they say "for what you look great." I take care of myself and try to make the best of what I have. I'm extremely fortunet that I have always carried my weight really well. I even have a friend who's seen me butt naked and told me she thought I was almost 50 lbs less then what I really am!! It's FAR LESS about how I LOOK...this is all about how I FEEL...and I'm sick and tired of being 34 y/o and feeling like a 64y/o, every joint from the waist down hurts constantly and it's time to do something about it...that's just the bottom line for me!! But I have to admit, it does amaze me how stupid and rude some ppl can be. I once had an obgyn tell me "you would be really pretty if you lost some weight" needless to say he didn't remain my obgyn!!! Hold your head up high, you don't have to explain nor defend yourself to anyone.
  7. Welcome to LBT and congrats for making it this far!! I will be thinking about you and msmary115 when I'm sitting in the bed Thurs morning. I have no doubt we will all do great. Keep us posted on how things go after all misery loves company (lets just hope the misery part is very short lived!!!) ~Monica
  8. I think if we just remember to take things SLOW and EASY then it won't be as bad as yall are thinking it might.... 4 more days!!!!! I can hardly wait!! I have to say....I'm more excited then nervous, I know this is something I can do. I've spent over 18 months trying to get to this point. I'm very lucky that not only do I have the great support here at LBT, but I have a very good friend who is 5yrs out with a band, I think that my be one reason why I'm so relaxed about my decision. The worst thing for me is that my husband has family coming from out of town next wkend so we are supposed to do the whole family get togeather thing....oh and grill steak woohoooo!! None of his family knows I'm having the band....and I expect them to be more judgemental then supportive. I guess I'll be facing a huge challenge right off the bat wooohoooo
  9. My hubby wasn't all gong-ho in the begining either..... To be blunt I told him it wasn't his body, and it wasn't his decession to make....he has no idea what it is like to live in my body and this is a choice I'm making for me, it's not about him. Once the shock wore off I asked him to come with me to a siminar so that he could hear first hand and ask any questions or concerns that he had. My thoughts are this.....this is a very hard journey to make with alot of pitfalls along the way, it will be even more difficult with a spouse that is not supportive. To bad the Dr's don't have a fat suit that can strap onto our loved ones so they can experience first hand what life in our body is like! Good luck!! ~M
  10. Congrats!! Sounds like you two already have a great built in support system working Hopefully I will feel up to posting in the afternoon when I get home from the hospital so I'll try and let ya know how it went for me....I'm expecting things to go very smoothly....had my gallbladder out (lap) 2 days before Christmas and lap hysterectomy the previous Nov so i'm hoping this goes as smoothly for me as those two surguries did . Good luck to you next Friday (can you believe it is just a week away!!) I hope you and your hubby have wonderful results!! ~Monica
  11. I'm going to be banded with a Rialize band 3/26... When my Dr asked me if I had a preference of bands I told him I wanted him to choose the band HE felt like would be the best option for ME. His reply was "It's like choosing Pepsi or Coke" he said that his patients tend to be hitting there sweet spot sooner with the Realize band and so far there seem to be fewer port issues.... so there you go Success is going to be more about what you put in your mouth and how much you move your butt verses which brand of band you have. Good luck!!!
  12. msmary....we will have to keep in touch and help each other thru this (although you might hate me, my Dr dosen't perscribe to the pre-op liquid diet). I don't know about you, but I'm counting the days down.... I had my pre-op visit on the 13th and found out that I am the 1st surgery scheduled for the day...I'm very excited to know that I won't have to sit and wait for who knows how long...the only thing I'm really concerned about is my surgeon took his family skiing this week for spring break, before he left the room I told him have fun and PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE BE CAREFULL!!!! god knows I don't want to reschedule or have to find another surgeon at this stage of the game!!! fatgirlinNY.....it's gonna be your job to let us know what to expect LOL....good luck to you on the 25th....I have no doubt everything will go smoothly!! Keep in touch I have a feeling we are all gonna need a sympathetic ear that actually KNOWS what we are going thru to help pull us thru!! XOXO~Monica
  13. Beset of luck to you Ben.... it sounds like you will be a great role model for your son, and that is something he will definetly need!! It's sad to say, but some people are better apart then togeather, this is a hard journey to make, but I think it would be even harder with an unsupportive spouse. Now you have time to focus on becoming healthy and being the best dad you can be!
  14. Good for you Suzanne.... Most people don't realize how much courage it takes to take that first step. I hope you get all the help you need to find your way to a healthier YOU!! Good luck on you lap band journey ~M
  15. I lay in my bed at night and dream of going to Onerland.....I haven't been there in a VERY VERY looong time!!! Congrats to ya!!!! That's fabulous....between you and I, I think it's much better to go slow and steady then drop it all like a hot potato....I think it gives your body time to keep up with the changes.....atleast that's what I'm HOPING!!
  16. Sorry to hear you are feeling so bad today...I hope it passes for you soon!! Just try to focas on where you are going and not what it takes to get there.... easy for mne to say right.....I haven't walked in your shoes yet!! Good luck and hang tough, it'll be over soon! :mad2:
  17. I wanna be frosty in a greenhouse too!!!!!
  18. So I've been thinking about this alot....here are my major three.... 1. Be able to get outta the shower and wrap a regular towel around me instead of the bath sheet that is almost as tall as I am!!! 2. To shop in a store without a PLUS size section, and buy clothes without a "W" in the size!!! 3. To be able to sit down and not feel like I have to cover or hide my bulging stomach and not on the list...but what I think I look forward to the MOST......seeing my face in the mirror the way I remember it!!!
  19. If memory serves me correct is was acutally 567 questions.... But they are all one sentence yes or no answers.... After that I then got to read more senteces and fill in the missing word and prononce a list of 50 words for the pyschatirst...talk about make me feel dumb I think the whole appt took me maybe an hour and a half.... Then I was able to go home and tell my DH and close friends that I am "Offically" NOT CRAZY (they think i snowed the Dr) It will be fine....don't stress about it, good luck on your journey
  20. Congratulations Cari....I know exactly what you mean about the waiting....but it will be worth it in the end...sounds like you already have half the battle behind you if you are approved....everything should fly from here....Best of luck to you....
  21. ROFLMFAO....... Glad to kknow I'm not the only one :scared2:
  22. Hey all.... got the call from the Dr's office this morning....I'm on the books now...finally jumped thru all the insurance company's hoops and "good to go" now I say....LET'S GO!!!
  23. GOT A DATE!!!!!!! Dr's office called this morning and said they insurance co is happy that I jumped thru all of their hoops...wooohoooo Surgery on March 26th!!! It can't come soon enough!!
  24. I keep a couple of 32 oz plastic cups @ work....has to be more then one so I don't have the excuss of "my glass is dirty" I try to make sure I drink at least one in the morning....and another in the afternoon....sometimes i can manage three which helps since I don't usually drink anything once I get home. As for the artifical sweetners....all I have to say is this....I don't think it's really HEALTH to put anything artifical or loaded with chemicals in your mouth....not saying I haven't....don't....or never will again I use to drink Crystal Light by the boatloads....now I have given it up after putting two and two together are realizing that after drinking it i tended to get a Headache I've never been a fan of drinking Water either...but to each his own...if you need flavoring to drink your water then so be it....just think about what you are feeding yourself
