  1. Congratulations on making it this far!! 20 lbs since 3/9 I'm impressed, hope I can do as well....I was banded 3/26 @ Park Plaze by Dr MArvin (I love him!!) I'm gussing you are eating now or pretty close to it at least...I don't know about you, but the full liquid has got to be the hardest part for me. Keep in touch...love to hear about all your success!!
  2. Ait - have you looked at some of the recipes on here?? April Avengers has a pretty extensive recipe thread. My suggestion to you is that you need to tell yourself the things you ate before were part of your Pre-Band Life....now that you have moved into your New Banded Life those foods are off the menu....just because you can get it down doesn't mean that you should, and how guilty are you going to feel after you do?? I say save the indulgances for AFTER your band is giving your restricion and you can then enjoy a SMALL AMOUNT and be SATISFIED.... Yes I know this may be a while....but isn't that why you that why you started this journey to begin with? Good Luck, Stay Strong!!!
  3. Are you loading it as your avitar?? and for the life of me....I can't get this stupid ticker thing to work....how did u do it?
  4. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! That's fantastic....it sounds like the band is going to be a major life altering experience for you...for the better!!
  5. So it's day 6..... How is everyone feeling....as for me gas pain hit on day 4.....now I am sitting at my desk @ wrk hugging my heating pad....and I guess the best way to descirbe the hungery pains I feel is to compare them to being in labor, they are very intense cramps that last 20-30 secs (almost take my breath away) and come anywhere from 10 to 30 mins apart (most of the time). I know this is just part of Bandster Hell and that it will pass....all I can say is God I hope it passes soon!!
  6. Those are some pretty impressive number!! Just remember to keep doing what you are doing and follow the "Band Rules" as things slow down some ('cause if they don't slow down you are gonna waste away to nothing in no time at all)....lol Good luck and let us know how things go for you!!
  7. Congrats!!! Looks like you have already had great results since you started the process, keep it up and there is no doubt you will reach your goals (and probably pass them!!)
  8. ROFLMAO All I can say is....you are a BRAVE SOUL if you do. I don't know if I would chance that 11 days post op....if it is just the flavor you will be missing you could always chew and spit I guess. If you do decide to brave it be sure and let us know how it goes. My hubby is competeing in a Steak Cook-Off May 16th....I've givens some serious thought to chewing and spitting then....
  9. I was banded 3/25/09 and I'm experiencing the same gas pain issues you had. Has it gotten any better for you yet?? Mine actually didn't start until yesterday afternoon so day 4, but it hasn't let up since then. I'm hungry...did you hear me i said HUNGRY!!!! I can't wait till Friday when I can start on mushies....I just keep telling myself, I'm more then halfway there...just a little bit longer.
  10. My advice is that from a new bandster that hasn't even gotten to eat food yet..... but for what it's worth, if I've learned anything from all I've read the last few months here you should stop AS SOON AS YOU FEEL NOT HUNGRY.....don't keep eating until you feel FULL. This is supposed to be completely different then the way we have been feeding ourselves for all these yrs. (and yes I know that's not very good grammer, so I hope it makes sense to yall)
  11. I am feeling your pain Dogmama... liquid in = liquid out but I have to say I don'thave the stocmach cramps to go with it..... Not drinking as much juice today and I have noticed a difference.... Hope things get back to normal for you too soon!!
  12. If i'm being honest I would say it was 60/40 for me..... 60% vanity and wanting to look good, 40% health issues, I'm 32y/o and most days feel 62...I have arthritis in my hips, bad knees, ankles, fractures in both feet (no trama, Dr still shakes his head at that one), back pain, and high blood pressure. My husband is always telling me how hot I am be it at 265lbs or the current 235....sometimes I get ready to go out and thinkg damn I look good...then I catch a sidewas glance in the mirror or see a picture afterwords, take about busting my bubble!!! I want to be able to agree with my hubby when he says I'm hot, and not see a pic later that says we were both lying!!!
  13. Lingling....just breath Sounds like you are ready to go girl! Best of luck I will be thinking about you!!
  14. Way to go Teachergirl!!! sounds like you are doing something right!! Keep up the good work!!
  15. I like you don't do confrontation, my suggestion is if the manager is already aware of the situation then I would request a meeting between the three of you. Let the manager let her know that this is a private health matter and if you wanted it to be public knowldege then you would be the one to share it. As managment I think it is your managers responsibility to nip this in the butt before it gets outta hand. While in your meeting with the co-worker let her know that this is a very personal decision and you would appreciate her respecting your right to keep in private. Regardless of how things turn out you need to remember this. This is something that you are doing for YOURSELF, what other people thing is of no importance. There will always be people who are going to find any reason they can to make you feel bad about yourself becasue it makes them feel better about themselves. Good luck to you!!!
  16. Congrats & Welcome to LBT!!! I was also banded 3/26/09 in Houston. Today is day 6...and while i don't feel so great I know this was the best thing I could do for myself, Friday I get to move to mushies and I'm soo excited!! I hope that things go great for you....keep in touch and let us see your progress!!
  17. OK...so it's day 6 and I fell like CRAP!!! I don't know if I ate too much (ate ha ha, that would be drank), too fast, or shoulda walked more last night but last night and today I'm feeling the gas pain.....it's like having a gallbladder attach minus the stabbing pain...gas-x doesn't seem to be doing much, right now my torso feels like a barrel, it hurst all the way to my back...ugh This too I know shall pass....oh yeah and I wanna EAT!!! I am supposed to be full liquids for 7 days then on to mushies, and my Dr isn't a fan of protien drinks....I am reading about ppl who are eating soft foods a few days outta surgery and I'm so jeleous, shame on me! Thank God I can move on to mushies Friday....Friday can't get here soon enough for me!!!! OK, no more whining for me, promise
  18. Congratulations on your success!! I think we all need to hear more stories like yours...to know that there is a light at the end of the tunnel! Good luck and much continued success!!
  19. I was banded 3/26/09 back to work today 3/30/09. But I'll tell you this....I have a desk job that is not the least bit strenuous *sp AND I'm also a quick healer it's 4:25 pm and I've been here since 7:15 am, I'm ready to go home, but all in all it wasn't tood bad (I even walked during my lunch about 15 mins) Good luck to ya....go at your own pace!!
  20. I'm sorry to hear about all your surgery delays. I understand how frusterating it can be to be left hanging. I hope that they get a space cleared for you ASAP, good luck and try to be patient (like that's what you really wanna hear right LOL)
  21. That's fantastic WorkingMom!!!! Keep this pace up and you will have to tie yourself down the next time it's windy outside...lol Really it soulds like you are becoming active and healthy, that's great!!
  22. NanaD....I hope that everything else is smooth sailing from here on out...and happy belated birthday, I think you gave yourself a wonderful gift...the gift of better health!! Megster27...is was right there with u @ 5:30 yesterday morning, too bad my hospital was sooo screwed up!! I was really pleased the my Dr had scheduled me as his 1st surgery of the day...well the OR changed the schedule...then tried to blame it on the Dr's office...talk about drama!!! man was my hubby fit to be tied!!! But....I'm banded now left the hopsital around 3pm...bladder works GREAT out walking with the fur babies, and really NO gas pain to complain of....I hope you are feeling as good as am!!! Stareeide4u...CONGRATS TO US!!!! I hope everything went smoothly for you, keep in touch so we can all share our progress. Here's to healthier lives (and hopefully hotter bodies to go with it LOL)
  23. Thank so sooo much Moondust....after a rocky start with the hospital everything went smoothly (just about 3 hrs behind schedule). So far, other then feeling like Mike Tyson's sparing partner and not being able to find anything to help with the dry throat I'm feeling A-OK. Thanks again for the good thoughts and prayers, I know I'm gonna need all of them I can get!!
  24. I'm happy to hear that you and your band are begining to make like friends...lol I hope things get a little better for you everyday and this will help you get where you want to go.... just think maybe one day you will look back and go "Oh My God....how could I have EVER hated my band!!" :tt1: (or is that just wishful thinkin) Good Luck ~Monica
  25. Ditto for me!!! sorry to hear your insurance has been so unwilling to help you get healthy, I completely agree with your take on it. They take your money for yrs, but when it comes time for you to move forward to be a healthier person they want to stand in your way. Good luck tomorrow!! ~Monica
