  1. Hi Junebug, lapband is a wise decision. If you want to lose 30 lbs I would eat 60 grams of protein a day and eat no more than 1200 calories. Bandsters typically bring in 800-1k calories a day. If you are hungry at night, eat some more protein. Protein is the most important thing in ones diet. Good luck and hope you have success with your band.
  2. Isn't it wonderful eating like a bandster! Good job
  3. Hi Lisa, you may want to call to confirm. I think he is $15k self pay. Fills are $200 and he does take Mexico patients as well.
  4. Hi Georgia Girl, you can do this. Restriction is the first thing you should look at. Secondly, your protein and water intake. Lastly your exercise. The band will work for you. Recommit today. You will not be a failure if you follow the 800-1k calories a day which is recommended for bandsters. You can do this!
  5. Go get a fill and get your butt moving!
  6. Hi Lisa, I don't know that doctor but I have seen him here in the Bay Area. Do you know how many lapband patients he has seen? Are you self pay? How much is he and are fills included? Dr. Robert Mckeen at South Bay Bariatrics is wonderful. South Bay Bariatrics Home Page His fills are not included in his price. No regrets here. I love eating like a bird and I'm never hungry. I can only eat 1-2 oz at a time. Julie

  8. Shrimp is really good for you. Go for it!
  9. I can eat oatmeal without a problem The only thing that happens is I get hungry really fast because of the lack of protein in it.
  10. It is quite common during the fill and unfill cycle to experience what you are going through. It is common to be tight sometimes until 2 or 3 pm. What you need to do is to have a protein shake in the a.m. followed by a soft protein diet at lunch. Then you can have your solid protein at night. That is what I would do if I were you. Good luck.
  11. Steph, out of curiousity do you know if your doctor filled your band partial way during the surgery? If not, I would consider this swelling. You may want to consult with your doctor. Good luck.
  12. First off you should ask them what your post op diet should be. Most surgeons keep you on liquids a minimum of 1 week, 2 more likely. Then you can move to the full liquid stage like creamy soups., then a week or 2 later you need to move to mushies or soft fooods ie. chili, tuna salad, potatoe. Then it is onto solids. When you go to solids you need to eat 60 grams of protein. Chicken, fish, eggs, yoguart, milk, beef those types of foods. At this point you may see a slight weight gain becuase your calorie intake will be more. Try and stick to 800-1k calories a day. You most likely will experience more hunger and no restriction during this time. Once that starts along with slowed down weight loss it will be time for a fill. It may take several fills until you feel less hungry and satisfied. Good luck.
  13. I looked back on my food logs and it looks like I may be consume too many carbs and alcohol. They say you can drink 1 drink a day. I did use quite a few points on my 2point rum and crystal light drinks. I am going to bump up the protein and omitt the alcohol. I probabably will try core this coming week and make sure I eat a ton of protein. Also, I need to start exercising more and more water. My fill is really good from yesterday so I am not as hungry today. Before my fill it took me 1 package oatmeal 2 pts, 1 banana 2 pts, 1 egg 2 pts and 1 whole wheat toast with butter 3 points just to get through noon yesterday. Today I had a protein shake at 8:30 followed by a latte at 10am and so far the hunger is at bay. Wish me luck. I did WW quite a few years ago and did really well on it. Truthfully I would be happy with my 1-2 lbs a week again. That was my average with the band when I was losing. Thanks for the support! Julie
  14. Fabulous. Keep with the program. It works!
  15. My fills have been a bloody nightmare. I thought I hit my sweet spot at 6 months and 5 fills but I was wrong. I have had between 12-15 fills and unfills trying to find that right place the past 18 months. I have pretty much maintained my weight for a few months now. I just had another fill of .3 up from 2.5 yesterday. It seems I can get in the 2-3 oz again which I am happy about. Needless to say, my insurance does not cover fills so its been pretty costly. Julie
  16. Hi girls, I don't have too many carbs in my diet. I think I am going to try core this week. My protein shake only counts as 2 points a day that way since skim milk is free. I know I need to continue to take alcohol out of my diet. I did drink quite a few points on NY eve.
  17. Try the zantax first. if that doesn't work you are too tight.
  18. I went back to 2.8 today and it is just perfect. I ate like a bird at lunch and have no hunger! I am thrilled!
  19. I use the GNC soy based product. I think it has between 25 and 30 grams of protein with 1 cup of skim milk.
  20. If they go through the stoma you are okay to take them whole otherwise you should cut in 1/2.
  21. My sweet spot is when I can only eat a few bites and be full. Also, it is when I don't have hunger.
  22. Congrats on starting your preop diet. Hope your surgery goes smooth.
  23. My band holds 4ccs. It took me 5 fills and about 2.5 to get to my sweet spot. That being said, I have had 12 fills and unfills over the course of the last 18 months. It has been a true roller coaster and very expensive. Its really hard to find that spot. Especially when you lose weight. you have to find it over and over again. Good luck.
  24. That is fabulous. I too remember what it was like to hit 18 from a 24. It feels great! Keep up the good work.
  25. The only pain I experienced was from the tube. I had a terrible sore throat and they had to spray my throat with a numbing agent so I could swallow.
