  1. That is great news. Good luck getting back your restriction.
  2. Dave, that is fantastic. Keep up the good work!
  3. I've been smoke free for about 3 weeks now with the exception of trying a smoke once or twice with no success. The Chantix is a miracle drug!
  4. I am really happy that I had lapband surgery. I was banded at 282 and I'm currently 220. I am a slow loser. I have 35 more to go. I don't regret it at all. I love not being as hungry and I eat far more healthy now. A lot more protein. Good luck.
  5. What you are experiencing is normal. I once gained 7 lbs in between fills. You will be okay after you get some restriction in a few weeks. Typically 6 weeks after surgery you can get a fill. Good luck.
  6. When you don't have as much to lose the weight typically comes off really slow. 1-2 lbs a week average is quite normal. You asked how people can still consume a lot? That is because the bands are not filled to the right restriction level first. It takes about 6 weeks to begin to get fills. Yes, I too didn't think the band would work. I lost about 40 lbs on my own before being banded. My doctor says that I am a success because I lost 65% of my excess weight. 60% is the norm. So don't get discouraged if it takes some time. Good luck.
  7. Yeah, I know my weight loss hasn't been as much as I would have liked for over 18 months but it is because of all those empty calories. Sometimes I have 2 drinks and other times when I have tequila I'll have a few shots and a couple drinks too. I really do try and only drink 2 drinks but it is difficult to stop. Not sure exactly what I am going to do.
  8. I was sober 16 months and had a relapse about 2 years ago. I really try and control my consumption but it is difficult.
  9. Yes as long as it doesn't bug your stomach. I drink it daily.
  10. the band itself will not restrict the amount of food you eat. you have a port that allows the doctor to put saline in the tube so it tightens and gives you restriction.
  11. I am an addict and it got worse after being banded. I drink at least 2 drinks a day and more on the weekends. I am glad we have this thread now.
  12. mermaidpuppy, I got my prescription from my surgeon. I was having problems with solids so he took me down .5 and gave me phentermine for my appetite. Nothing works better than the band. I went back in 1 week later for an adjustment. I was starving on the phentermine literally until I was adjusted. I would just ask your doctor. My doctor wouldn't give me more than 6-8 weeks prescription. Good luck.
  13. Hi Mindy, thanks for the tips. I have been using a protein shake in the a.m. so I can get my protein in. The problem that I have is within an hour to an hour and a half I am starving. Can you give me some examples as to what you eat in the a.m. that is high in protein. I can't do scrambled eggs but I can do easy over. Julie
  14. Sorry to hear this happened to you. Will your insurance cover a new band?
  15. Yes, there are a lot of hurdles. What do you have to do next? It sounds like you are very very close.
  16. That is fantastic. Way to go!
  17. Fantastic news. Keep you the good work!
  18. Sorry this happened to you and you get the care you need today.
  19. Georgia girl, what you are experiencing is normal with weight loss. That being said, if the surgeon pulls out less they can fill you with a thicker solution. That happend to me and it stopped the leak. Ask your surgeon.
  20. Jack, I hear ya . I have had at least 12 fills and unfills the last 18 months. I thought my sweet spot was 3.0 then I couldn't do much solids so I went down to 2.5 then I was starving. Yesterday was my first day at 2.8 and I did pretty well. There has to be a place where we can get set but who actually knows where that is for goodness sakes! This is costly!
  21. If you want a potatoe eat one. Stop when you are full. That is the benefit of the band.
  22. Do you have an aftercare doctor who is closer than Mexico?
