I have no support and no-one to talk to: Surgery 18th June
Thanks. I may go in in 6 months and have a revison however. He left about 2" of fat on my upper abs he didn't get with the lippo so we'll see. He told me if he was too agressive it can actually kill the skin. The tummy tuck took like 3-4 hours. Because I had so much fat he had to carterize the blood vessels when he opened me up.

Would anyone know?? Birth Control pills !!!!
You can take anything the size of an M&M. Your birth control pills should be fine.

I have no support and no-one to talk to: Surgery 18th June
My pannus is completely gone. It was about 3 to 4 inches thick and hung down to where my pubic area was. It was totally worth it.

1 day after surgery
Congrats on your surgery. Gasx is your friend.

My Tummy Hurts! 2 days Post Op.
I would ask your doctor for a pain killer or take liquid tylenol. It is manageable.

2 days post op and more questions
Sorry you are having such a tough time of it. I would take some liquid Tylenol for the neck pain first of all if you don't have a pain killer from your doctor. If you are hungry you can have anything that fits through a straw including creamy soup. That was a life saver for me.

disappointed
I am sorry this happened to you. I know how you feel when you are excited then let down. The 26th will come soon. Congrats on your journey.

Got my 1st surgeon's visit
Good for you. Congrats on getting banded.

Is "stuck" immediate? or creeps up on you?
I typically PB within a minute or 2 of getting stuck. I get stuck pretty fast.

Tim Russert died
I am saddened by this. He was just wonderful.

Up top weight loss (ladies)
I went from a C cup to a B after losing 105 lbs.

When did you know that you could eat that or you could not????
But I have read that some people just can't tolerate some foods? What do you know you can and what you can't?? I PB if it doesnt settle with me. I am from Louisiana and we eat boiled seafood often, is that allowed? Has anyone been able to tolerate that? Yes, seafood goes down nicely since it is so soft. It is good for you. What about resturant eating? How do you know you will be able to tolerate foods that you have eaten before you band? I don't want to be in the resturant and not be able to tolerate the food I ordered? Like burrito (misspelled) torts? chips and salsa? pizza? chicken and angel hair Pasta? I just eat slowly to see if it will go down. With good restriction I just can't eat much.

Popcorn - Does it go down for you?
Yes. My doctor said it is just like sand.

Seeking referrals -California
Mexico is definitely less expensive but you have aftercare to think about as well. Dr. Robert McKeen at South Bay Bariatrics in San Jose is exceptional. I think he is roughly $15k.

New Person
Hi Deeds, I have been banded 2 years and am 17 lbs from goal. Do you have any questions? Are you getting banded soon?
-
Just starting my research.........
It can take several fills to get to the right level of restriction.
-
Haven't told my hubby :-(
Heidi, I would recommend you take your husband to an inforemational seminar. They cover everything there. Your surgeon should have one.
-
Myths about Lap-Band
That it only takes a few fills to get restriction. I have a fickle band and I have had 20 fills and unfills in 2 years. Yikes!

Looking for input on stomach problem
Gwenn, that is really good news. Hope it works out for you.

Lap Band or Bypass?
The stats are 60% weight loss with lapband the first year and 85% weight loss with bypass. At year 3 they are the same at around 65-70%. Bypass patients typically gain weight back. Good luck with your decision.

Long Time Bandsters Experiencing Problems?
Starrgirl, I wish you the best and I hope your band is saved. It wasn't all in your head.
-
Well...another... Is this normal???
Typically its the opposite and you can't eat until later in the day. That being said, if you can stand the hunger I would just eat throughout the day only or drink liquid at night. If you get an unfill you will lose some of your restriction. It is up to you though.
-
Hungry Right After First Fill
The hunger will be there until you get the right restriction. It took me 5 fills.
-
5th Fill
It can take up to 2 weeks. If you can't hold down liquids then you are too tight. If you move to a mushie stage and don't PB you can stick to a softer diet. Ideally you want to be on solids but a softer diet is okay if you wish per my surgeon. Good luck to you.
