Hello! I am looking for a fill doctor in the central Ohio area. I am going to Mexico to have my lap band surgery done b/c I am self-paying for the procedure.

My husband Dane had his surgery in Mexico, We drive to Michigan for his fill doc and it's about 4hr drive there and back about 8hrs round trip. I was told by Fill usa centers you have to be either a NP or a MD to do the training for fills. You have to be able to write prescriptions. I was looking it to it for someone else and that is what they told me for the required training they do. I hope this helps

I had my surgery with Dr. Ortiz and lined up my aftercare before my surgery. Dr. Ortiz was great at giving me some local docs that could help me out with aftercare, and the guy that was highly recommended (Ortiz proctored him) to me is unbelievable. Fantastic. He treats me as if he were my surgeon. The guy even came in on his day off to help me out when I was ridiculously tight, and didn't even charge me a office consult fee, just the regular fill fee. I know not everyone has that experience, but I did my homework before I went down to MX.

Going to Mexico is NOT a bad thing, but you MUST do your research beforehand. You must line up your aftercare ahead of time. You must know where you will go in an emergency (DH and I know the closest hospital that is a Bariatric Center of Excellence). You must also pick a surgeon who is going to give you your records, is going to do a good job, and is going to be there if you run into a problem and you need a second opinion. Ortiz was good for that. I have no complaints, but I can see where a lot of people have problems. Your post serves as a good reminder that if we are going to go international, we MUST practice EXTRA due diligence....

Is Dr Pleatmen in Michigan? Will he take people who live in Ohio as we can't find a fill dr here. Is he expensive? Let me know. The ones I found here charge way too much or now not accepting patients. I'd like his phone number and all. Please give me the run down as we would like to get a dr just incase and it's much closer than the OCC is for us. Leave me a message in my box.

Dr.Curry Stopped taking patients from out of country for fills. I have called his office and they are refusing to do fills on patients that are banded else where. They said due to volume of there patients also of there patients needs.

I like reboks shoes as I have a hrd time myself fitting into shoes too. I usually get reboks. They have a deeper fit and my feet stay in my shoes.

I'm in Ohio but going to fly back for the 1st fill in TJ Mexico. Then after that driving to a Fill Usa center in michigan which is close to us. You would have to call the OCC and ask them what there price is as the price is a confedenital privacy. I will tell you there pricing is very good and afforable or else we would not have gone that far at all.

Yes Mexico is very safe. We just had my husbands surgery there in Tijuana, Mexico on 12/30/2008 and It was very clean and safe. The hotel was very nice. We had a good time. We never had any problems since being home. We are going back to Tijuana, Mexico for his 1st fill in 7 wks. He can't wait to go back and neither can I. The Obeseity Control Center is OCC. We had Dr.Martinez do his surgery. Dr.Ortiz is the other surgeon that does them there too. For his 2nd and many more fills we are going to USA Fill center. I hope this can answer some questions. Productive burping- can make your band go out of place and try to advoid it if possible but it will happen time to time and it will be scary the 1st time it happens just be careful
