  1. I was always under the impression that a revision was going to result in more pain then the original band surgery. NOT at all true for me. This has been a lot easier and everything at 5 is going great.....I'm having such little trouble at this point, I'm beginning to worry that something terrible willl happen to me, just to punish me.

I'm on Clear liquids for another 10 days......this is the worst part. Dr. Aceves wanted me on on clears until day 15 after my surgery, due to a lot of scar tissue from the band.

I have my band and I'm planning my special tribute video farewell for it next week. I will post it on youtube. I'm thinking a small ceremony with a creamation at the end!!!!!!!!!! I'm sure the lapband people will be horrified.

  2. LOL. No he hasn't ever encouraged me to post. In fact, I haven't really talked to him since he did my wifes surgery. I guess, I wasn't looking for a long term relationship...LOL.

It is GOOD to be skeptical. There is nothing wrong with that at all, but I guess I'm one of the few who has been there and is going back....most people just don't have a reason to go down there twice, with me, it was once for my wife and once for me to have my revision.

Ok and I'll admit, my daughter is already planning on going to him, when she can afford it. Repeat business in this field isn't all that common, but my family is full of fatties.

  3. I took a 401k loan for something else, and it turned out to save me a ton of money. The market went way down after and I was buying back the stock at a lower price. Heck, I have taken a 401k loan before, just to limit my exposure to a volatile market. Oh, and god help us if we get a more volatile market then this one.

  4. I believe you could be totally right, but whats the point. He's not "ready". You are wasting your time, maybe God is the one telling you he isn't ready and you should move on.

The minute you believe you don't deserve the best, you will never get it. Believe in yourself and wait until someone comes along that is perfect. Well close to perfect, because no one is perfect. I waited until I was 32 to finally find my wife, who is the first and only wife I will ever have, because she is so perfect for me that no one else would do well in comparison.

  5. My lapband was going to be placed by an extremely experienced doctor. Then at the last minute they said he couldn't do it, and switched me to a doctor who hadn't ever done one on his own. In other words, I was his first!!!! I wasn't pleased, but he did a good job. Of course the damn thing leaks now, so maybe he didn't do such a good job? I doubt the leak was from the beginning.

Oh well, not making that mistake again...I will go to someone I trust this time...that just happens to be Dr. Aceves, and he just happens to be in Mexico. I'm not going to him to save money, which seems to be the assumption. I'm going to him, because I want him to do the revision.

  6. Thank you oregandaisy, and I am excited.

My stupid band, I just knew it had a leak....I think they knew also, a fill just never lasted anymore, and my restirction was all over the place.

The band worked for as long as I needed it to, now I'm on to a permanent solution!!!!

Well, its back to plan A.....the Stargate SG1 series from start to finish.

  7. I think those concerns are very very legit. There are some places I wouldn't let operate on my dog. Dr. Aceves and the Almater Hospital, I have no problem with at all. I have been there with my wife, when my wife had her sleeve done, and it was great. Also, I like to look at track records and stats.....so yes, they need to be FACS in order to check these things.

My brother had Gastric Bypass here in the US and died. So you can bet I know there are real risks. Having said that he died of liver failure, which should have precluded him from having the surgery in the first place, but somehow it got someone in the US to do it??

I think the regular package price for sleeve is around 10,000 and 12500 for revision from band to sleeve. Takes about a week to get paper work and such approved for normal people.

  8. Last year when we were at Dr. Aceves the internet was fairly slow. Has anyone who has gone lately noticed what the speed is like?

I would like to be able to watch movies from my netflix account, but I need about 2mbs to do that, anyone know from experience if it is fast enough now for streaming video?

Can someone who is going in the next week, do a speed test for me?

You just go on your wirless while your there, and go to speedtest.net and see what numbers it gives you.

My back up plan is to take a small dvd player and dvd's.
