    Lapbander HERE!!!

The last post on this thread was 9 months ago. You might want to try a private message to get a hold of her. I'm not sure if she posts here anymore or not.

    Why? ? ?

Hmmmm. I thought the same exact thing, and I don't even have a sleeve. Why, bring a thread back to life that you don't like? As far as her join date versus how long she has been coming here....that is pretty easy answer...a lot of people come to a forum for awhile and then join. But, frankly the post was pretty much useless.....accomplished nothing, and makes for more strife that you are supposedly not liking?
  3. I have a band and my wife a sleeve. One day, I will revise to the sleeve. It is so much easier, so much less worry, and long term so much cheaper. This is a no brainer for anyone that can get the sleeve, they should get it. For people who have insurance that won't pay for the sleeve, but will pay for the band.....I would tell them, to figure out a way to self pay for the sleeve....it is that much better and worth that much more.

    Realize band removal

I don't see how that is going to make a difference? In reality it has a bunch of scar tissue that has to be cut away no matter which way it is attached. So yes, it will hurt afterward, I'm very certain of that, but it isn't going to be a big deal for the surgeon.
  5. We did that last meal in the hotel Italian place. I can't really remember what we got, but it was a lot.
  6. have you tried going back to some more basic foods....mushies at all? Sometimes you just need to give it a little rest. Are you taking your ppi 30 minutes before you eat? If not the acid production is goind to be too much.
  7. Your right, you are overthinking things. But, you are cracking me up!!!!! Relax, you will figure it all out, when you need to, until then, just relax.
  8. I also ate at the Italian place I believe you are talking about. Exit Emergency door to street turn right, at corner turn right and halfway down the street on your left is the Italian place. I wish I had know the mall was only four blocks, I would have walked to it. Safe? I always felt safe. Heck, there was hardly anyone around, and they didn't really pay much attention to me, other then to smile and waive?
  9. Make sure you are taking any ppi like nexium....at least 30 minutes before you eat or take anything else. I sounds like your stomach is producing a normal acid response, but since you now have a tiny stomach it is way too much. PPI's like nexium must first be absorbed and in the blood stream to stop over acid production.
  10. canned sweet potatoes....make sure it is the no sugar added kind.

    VSG at "low" BMI?

A little bit, but not enough to need plastic surgery or anything. It just takes a lot of time for your sking to tighten back up.

    Wasting Food!

We bought a bunch of tupperware just for making "meal kits". We make something and freeze it in portions that make a nice single meal. We used to buy Smart ones, that isn't necessary now with all of our leftovers. Just a tip...buy small tupperware that is clear so you can see what you are getting....unless you like lunch to be a surprise?
  13. You are asleep when they give it to you? I wouldn't have it done without it, unless Dr. Aceves wanted you to not have one for some reason.

    VSG at "low" BMI?

My wife was the same height and weight as you. She had lost about 40lbs on her own, then had the surgery with Dr. Aceves, as she decided not to go through another yo yo cycle again. She is now 145, and extremely happy. Life was a daily battle with food and not gaining weight. Now she just needs to make sure she gets in enough Protein each day, and not eat too fast. She is planning on losing another 10lbs and then just maintaining.

    Freaking out a bit!

Its all relative. This is the BEST surgery with the best stats. Thats just the way it is. I agree weight regain is ALWAYS a concern. But this one has the least regain. You may indeed regain some weight after losing a lot, but it will be relatively little and it will be extremely easy to take it right back off. Right now you probably only notice weight gains of 10-30lbs. After the surgery and weight loss, you will notice gains of 1-3lbs and you will have an extremelly effective tool at taking it right back off. Yes, you can eat around your weight loss surgery and sabotage yourself, so if that happens it is time to see a head doctor to help. Bypass, has really given WLS a bad perception, since so many had it and regained, but this surgery doesn't have nearly the same regain statistics as the old ones.
  16. Of course the first one is after day 1. It is abnormally small from swelling.
  17. Yep, all the more reason to do well with the sleeve. You have a lot of motivation to not sabotage yourself. Otherwise, you may have to add the DS to get where you want to be in the end.
  18. If you had a cut on your arm that healed up and left a scar, would you think it possible to start bleeding again, a year later? Its really the same thing. It just takes a little longer for the stomach to heal and you can't see it.
  19. You really have nothing to gain and everything to lose by telling people. By the way, did you notice the study was on 14 women. Not much of a study? But it is true, most will not tell people. Why would you want to? For the most part people will be judgemental, unsupportive, and down right mean.
  20. I think if you are able to follow a hi protein/low carb and sugar diet, then the sleeve will be perfect. Biut, if you tend to sabotage yourself with sugar then some malabsorption may be necessary. It really depends on if you mainly eat too much, or you eat the wrong things. If you had a lapband and you were constantly eating things that slide past to get around the band, then that could be a danger sign for you. My advice, just get a good tight sleeve and then if that isn't enough get a DS. Don't even bother with the GB. If you do a GB, you can still eat too much sugar if you don't mind dumping, and it can and will stretch out for most overeaters.

    Why? ? ?

I'm sorry that people are finding out that it works this way on websites, but frankly it doesn't matter which ones you go to, this is how it works. Take the good stuff and support, but when it comes to the money trail, you can't trust much on a forum. That means that, yes, bad posts about someone true or not, will be deleted and future people may not realize this simple fact. A website just doesn't serve the purpose of researching who to buy from, in any product. I'm sorry if this bothers people, it used to bother me, but now I realize that is just the way it is on all websites. Come to grip with it, and just get the good out of what you can. Thats my advice, or it could drive you insane. You want to talk crazy stuff....I had to pay to keep my old website for 3 years because of a stupid court order, but no one could actually read the site. I just had to maintain it for their stupid lawsuit.
  22. People want to believe that what they did was the best decision. It is just human nature. Don't do it!!!! Get the sleeve and be done.

    Why? ? ?

I have to say, that I did find one website that has found a novel way around this problem. www.cruisecritic.com It is a great informational site, with tons of information. But, you are not allowed to post anything positive or negative about travel agencies. It is just flat out band, as it faces the same problems as positive or negatives about doctors on this site. Basically, the site doesn't attempt to perform that kind of help and refuses to even let people do that and it really is probably the most honest way of running a site.
  24. Jaffa

    Why? ? ?

Forums are best at helping each other with information. The one exception is helping people with who to buy a service or product from, because the negatives in this regard are usually deleted. This IS a sad fact. Just in case your wondering, my website had nothing to do with weightloss. The guy who filed against me to this day gets money and never does deliver.
