    Lap band + plication

I'm so sorry to hear about that! I know my fried had a similar situation happen to her while she was pregnant but hers had to be removed. My doctor told me that the way he places the band with the plication it would be 'nearly' impossible for it to slip but not impossible! I was self pay to begin with and decided to do it to prevent further complications and help with my weight loss.
  3. Don't be nervous! It's normal but I was too, and I couldn't be happier now! I tried for over a year to loose weight barely losing 5 lbs and have lost 27 in 6 weeks!

Typical menu 4 wks post op

At 4 weeks post op I was introducing sold foods, I was doing a lot of yogurt, shredded deli meat, shredded salads, and some cereal. I don't know if your suppose to have cereal but I didn't have any troubles with it. I'm down 27lbs in 6 weeks.
  5. I wanted to post about my amazing experience with Lindstrom Advocacy. After being denied over the summer my surgery coordinator sent me to Lindstrom Advocacy to go further into the appeal process. The denial was upheld through the first 3 stages, which they said was to be expected. During that time, I chose to do self pay in Denver, Colorado, due to a lack of personal confidence in my case. I didn't think there was any reason to continue with the appeals process but Kelley assured me of her confidence in my case going to external review. I am since down 26 pounds in 7 weeks and just found out on Tuesday that My denial was overturned and they are retroactively paying for my surgery! If it wasn't for Lindstrom and their hard work, I would have unrightfully paid for a surgery that was deemed medically necessary. The best part of all, their services are completely, 100% free! I didn't pay a dime and could not be more grateful for what they have given me. If you have been denied, don't give up hope! Contact Lindstrom Advocacy! feel free to message me if you have any questions about it!

    Lap band + plication

I had Lapband with plication on November 12th 2012 and am down about 30lbs. Personally, I think it's another great tool and why not do even more to make this journey easier on you! Also, my doctor told me that with the plication he sees no reason as to why your band would slip for any reason!
  7. Hi all, I was banded with plication on November 12th and am in my last few days of mushy foods. I lost 13 pounds the first week and have lost 4 pounds since then. I know your not suppose to focus on the number and my clothes are fitting much better but did you notice the weight coming off more so once you had a fill. Any feedback would be great! -Mandy

    Surgery Yesterday

I just had surgery Monday and Popsicles were a life saver!!
  9. Very nervous but also very excited to start this journey. Please feel free to leave any advice that u think might help me through my first few days!
  10. Hi all, I recently posted on here to get some additional information about lapband with plication (plication is when you have your stomach folded and stitched and then have your lapband placed overtop of that). The only question I have now is if there is any information out there about the long-term affects of doing the plication of the stomach. I know the results are much better but if anything were to happen, and I have it undone, can the stitches be taken out & will my stomach go back to normal? I know its similar to the sleeve, but I also know its a pretty new surgery and Im just curious if there is any addition information out there. My doctor said he can't tell me where I will be in 5-10 years but just that the results are much better. Any information would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! Mandy
  11. Hi all! I just had my consultation and got my surgery date for a regular lapband! (Novemmber 12th!!) The doctor also reccommend adding plication and I was curious about anyone who had done so already and their feelings about it. He said it will help with slippage and make for a greater weight loss and less fills. As a young- self pay patient, slippage is a big concern. Any feedback would be great! Thanks again! Mandy

    21 New To Lapband

Im 20 years old and am getting banded November 12th. My doctor said that the younger you are the more likely your skin is to go right back but it also depends on how much weight you loose. One of the things I read on here is if you put on the skin underneath your arm and it bounces right back then its likely it will retract Good luck on your journey!
  14. Hi all, I posted this is another thread but only got a few responses. I am considering getting Plication with my Lapband after having it recommended by my surgeon. I am a young patient (20) and was told it will help with future slippage, I won't need as many fills and I may have better weight loss. Any feedback would be great! Thanks Mandy
  15. Thank you all so much! I think after all my research I'm gonna go ahead with the plication. It seems like the best option for avoiding future problems. starting to count down the days! 20 & counting!
  16. Hi all, My name is Mandy and I am 20 years old and am getting Lapband in the next month (surgery date TBD). I am really looking forward to starting this new journey and becoming and ever better me! I would love to find someone to talk to about all the different aspects of this journey since I don't know many people who can relate! I have facebook, twitter and am thinking of starting a blog! I look forward to hearing from you all

    Plication With Lapband Question!

It's like a sleeve but is reversible. They don't cut away the stomach, just section it off and band the other part. I'm only 20 years old and don't like the idea of cutting my away my stomach & being self pay its a lot more expensive to get a sleeve.
  18. Thanks you all so much for the great feedback. I was a little nervous when the doctor brought up adding Plication but knowing its a commonly done operation makes me feel better. The nurse at my office said the pain and recovery is no different than the regular Lapband surgery and takes only 10 more mins. My biggest concern from the beginning was slippage of the band (since 25% of bands slip) so if this could help that, I would feel a lot better. I am set to banded November 12th!! Very excited but the nerves are starting to set in. Thank you all again.

    Plication With Lapband Question!

@Carolinagirl thank you so much for your comments! I didn't know much about it when my doctor brought it up, but from what I hear it sounds like a good idea. Have you had to have any fills yet?? & what did you mean by you have to help both procedures? Thanks again
  20. Hi all, I was denied by Aetna in August and am in the appeal process with Lindstrom Advocacy. If that doesn't gain me approval I am thinking of doing self-pay. I was curious what happens if you self pay and have complications down the road. Do you have to pay to get the band removes/fixed? I'm only 20 and know that complications can occur with pregnancy, time, etc and I wouldn't want to pay the money for the surgery to have to pay again to fix it in a few years. Do any insurances that don't cover the initial surgery but do cover complications?? Please let me know, any feedback would be great!! Thanks Mandy

19 And Trying To Figure It All Out

Hi there, I see it says you had surgery with Dr. Weaver. How was your experience? I am doing self pay with him next month and was wondering how it went! Any feedback would be great! Congrats & good luck on your journey!

    Self Pay And Future Complications

@Brandyrn73 They denied me for not showing a high enough weight for 2 years. I used Jenny Craig records and because I had lost weight (even though I gained it back) they denied me. I am appealing the decision through Lindstrom Advocacy! Direct Message me if you have any questions about it. Its a free law agency that defends on your behalf. Good Luck!
  23. Hi, I as well have Aetna but sadly got denied in August. I used documentation from when I did Jenny Craig in 2010 but since I had lost weight my BMI at that time was too low for approval even though I gained it all back and then some. From what it looks like you have, you have a much better chance of approval than I did. I am in the appeal process and hope the get my denial overturned in the next few months. You should be hearing something any day now! It took a little less than 2 weeks for me. Good luck on your journey.

    Denied By Aetna!! Wth?!

@Cunnar! Thanks so much for sharing! That gives me hope. My question for you is when you worked with Lindstrom Advocacy what was the time frame from calling them to approval?? They told me 90 days from when they send your first appeal but I have heard getting to the independent review takes time. Any info would be greatly appreciated!
