  1. Hello Ohio!! I recently moved from Kansas City. I'm working from home so have not had much social interaction. My boyfriend is great, but he's not enough!! :) Some of my best friends are friends that I met in Kansas City after being banded (January 2009), so I thought I'd come in here and see who I can find. LOL Let's talk! I'd love to make some new friends!

  2. I hate it that happened to you. There is a person at my surgeon's office who is like that so I make my appointments for fills with the other person. Most of us have issues from our past similar to this that were a part of gaining weight. (Mine was my step-dad humiliating me in front of anyone who would listen. All that did was fuel me to eat more and gain more.) Very sad.

If this woman is the only person you can use for fills, you need to tell her how this interaction made you feel. She may sincerely have no idea and needs to realize that everyone is different. If she's effective, she'll use a different approach with different patients.

  3. This should not keep you from being able to have surgery. I also have a history of blood clots. I have Factor V and am now on lifetime maintenance coumadin. I was given a shot of Lovenox before surgery and compression "boots" for several hours after. No problems at all. Remember to get up and walk as often as possible once you get home.

  4. I got my band on 1/13, and I'm down from 261 to 219. Feeling GREAT about that! I've had only one fill (and two appointments since where we decided I didn't need any more yet). I walk on the treadmill 3 or 4 times a week for 30 minutes. Haven't had much trouble with head hunger yet. I'm still just so excited about it all that I'm in the groove. I think the head hunger will haunt me when the weight loss slows down.

  5. I'm one of the lucky ones - so far. I have not had trouble with any food I have eaten, and I have not yet PB'd. But I've only had one fill. Everything could change in the coming months. I have had a couple of "stuck" moments two or three bites in to a meal. So I've just stopped and waited for a moment before continuing and then been fine. I think I'm just eating too fast when I get started and have to be reminded to slow down.

  6. Speaking only for myself - congratulations on losing 35 pounds in a year!! That's wonderful. Sure, we've all done that in past years without a band - but those 35 pounds came back again. With your band and proper restriction, those 35 pounds won't come back and you'll lose more next year. I say hang in there, talk to your doctor and see what the second year brings!

  7. Has anyone read any good books about lap band that they would recommend? I'm already banded so I don't want to read something that's just about making the decision of whether the procedure is right for me. I want a book that's more/mostly about the after care and stuff. It seems there are several books available but I'm not sure which one to pick. Any suggestions?

  9. Yes, I had this too - not as bad as you are describing though. Exactly on my fourth week, I had a severe tenderness at my port area - something I had not even felt before that day/week. It hurt worst when bending. I called my surgeon's office and was told that it sounds like I pulled one of my internal stitches and give it a few days. They were right, the tenderness faded but is still not completely gone away.
