  1. Awww....thanks, guys! I'm seriously tearing up right now...that's hard to do! I love it here! And yes, Suze...that's why I've been scarce lately, outside of the weather.

    Which is really happening! Wombat knows! We are still dealing with it all over town. There is a family about ten blocks from me that had an enormous oak tree fall diagonally across their home. This tree is HUGE...about 80 feet tall and probably measures ten feet around. Their home was absolutely destroyed, the worst I've seen so far, but there is mayhem all over. Thank goodness, I have not heard about a single injury, much less deaths. It's truly a miracle. Then last nights storms brought the wildest hailstorm I've ever seen...I thought it would break through the windows on my house! The entire ground what white with quarter to golf ball sized hail. Is the end of the world coming, or what?!?!? Then today was so gorgeous and sunny that I'm running around in shorts, tank top and sandals! Go figure!

    But I digress...the important thing here is that I really appreciate you guys. I hope that I can go unfilled with your help and support. This will be my true test, but I will have no shame about getting it refilled if I need it, trust me! I want twenty more pounds gone and I'm done. I'm at a point that I think my body will start dropping it from my legs....my worst enemy. Hereditary. UGH. At 145, my legs should be as lean as my arms. Right now they are Thunder Thighs! :cry_smile: LOL

  2. ZZ - LOL I haven't read the June thread yet, but I'm sure I will feel "virtually spanked"...again! I truly love you, girl!

    C - Not dumb at all. There are no dumb questions here. Yeah, I know...no one knew about it, really. As long as I didn't acknowledge it here, it wasn't really happening, right? Jeez, I can be dumb! LOL Anyhow...yes, I knew when it happened, but was powerless to stop it. When I was stuck Monday night, it got so bad that it wasn't just an attempt at a PB, it was all-out nausea-caused dry heaving. Sorry to be gross. To your band, this is vomiting whether it is productive or not. The stomach contractions caused the pouch to stretch up and over the band. Not very much, but enough to put the band at such an angle that it was like folding your garden hose in half to stop the flow of water...and nothing was going in or out without significant effort and discomfort. When they took all fill out and I drank that "lovely" barium, it was such a relief when it went right on through! Before they took all the fill out, I had drank some of it and under flouro, it was verified that even liquids weren't really going anywhere anytime soon. As soon as she pulled on the syringe and took out the fill, the barium went swishing through!

    All in all, I'm feeling pretty darn good tonight. I can eat, I'm fine with my regular small portions so far, and no misery with eating or drinking.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    On a happy note, thank you for the nice comments on my slide shows from my rides! This group is my absolute favorite! And since I had a complete unfill, I'm no longer worried about how I'm going to be able to eat and drink on my big (150-MILES!) ride in two weeks. I will make sure to take lots of pics on that one...it's gonna be a doozie!
  3. Okay...been dealing with rather large band issues for a while now, and got SOME finality around it today. So it's time to share, I guess.
    I've been having issues since my last fill, which you already know. I had a slight unfill, which you also already know. However, problems started back up. Trouble eating anything at different times, different days....no real pattern, and very annoying. I just dealt with it. Got VERY stuck late Monday night...lasted hours and hours. Dry heaving, trying to PB...nothing helped for many hours. Since then, nothing goes down well. Even Water gurgles and makes me burp for an hour. So today I get fed up and call at the last minute to talk to my NP. After giving her the scoop, she gets me in right away.
    Sure enough. My pouch has stretched. We believe it occured from Monday night, as my flouro pics from a few weeks ago showed my band/pouch were top notch. So I had to make a decision.
    I had them remove all Fluid from my band. I go back May 15th to check it under flouro again. If the pouch is healed, they can start putting fluid back in my band. They said it usually takes two fills to get all my original fill back. If its not healed, they will wait one more month. If at that point it isnt healed, I go back to my doc to discuss redoing the surgery from scratch.
    HOWEVER, this could be an ideal opportunity for me. With no fill, I will see how much of my loss has been band and how much willpower I really have. If I can swing it, and manage to lose even five pounds by May 15th, I will likely never bother with any of this. I will leave my band unfilled.
    Here's hoping....
  6. Okay...here are the pics from my last two rides. I should have taken tons more pics, but on Tour Dallas I was having so much fun that I kept forgetting to take pics, and on Lancaster I was having so much NOT fun from all the hills that I didn't care about pics! LOL
    Anyhow, here they are...I didn't do them justice.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    I'm still in the process of recreating y'alls plans. My laptop got fried in the storms last week and it's in the shop. I'm back to using my desktop and it is a pain in the butt. Sorry it's taking so long!

    And storms again tonight?!?!? Tons of hail, storm sirens going off all over town....I hope we are not in for more of what we got last week!

  9. FairyFacade - PRICELESS! And so true!

    (EDIT: It was true for me, anyhow. Heck, what happens yesterday rolls off my back usually. Not always, but usually. Wheetsin is right, though...many people carry that stuff around like a big heavy bag of rocks. I've always wondered why they just don't put it down?)

    Nikkki - I know you are just venting here, and that's good. I must admit I have no clue what "Hey, blah, blah, blah" means either, though! LOL It's hard when you are so young, but you need to be strong and remember that this is for YOU and YOUR HEALTH.

    There are different schools of thought amongst bandsters regarding telling people about their surgery....some shout it from the mountain tops and tell complete strangers in the checkout line at Walmart, while others don't even tell their own mothers!

    Maybe, just maybe, it would be best not to discuss it with the masses when you are mostly dealing with folks your own age. They generally won't have the maturity to deal with it properly. I wouldn't hide it, either. If a question ever comes up, (such as weight loss questions after you are banded) answer it nonchalantly and move on as if its no big deal. Some people just refer to completely revamping their eating habits, which is accurate, even if it's not a complete explanation.

    I know you are being banded this summer. If it is early summer, you will have some time to get used to your new tool and have some weight loss behind you before school starts up again. I think as long as you don't lie or hide anything...the less information you give kids at school, the better.

  10. TRELL, Welcome!

    Yes, OH Juli is right (she is called J, and I am TX) about the craziness in here! It gets off topic regularly and is very chatty. It is nuts and everyone here is GENUINELY good people...that's hard to find. We'd love to have you stick around, contribute, and let us give back to you, as well.

    Congrats on your new friend, the band! Treat it well and it will do the same for you!

  11. Okay, so you two concur on the orange, strawberry and black cherry. Cherry is my favorite flavor, so I will get more of that. Thanks, chicas! (I gave y'all "reputation" for this info! I still can't believe I'm a TWO! LOL) I've never tried the bars, either...so maybe I'll pick up a couple to try if the labels check out.

    I'm outta here...I can't spend all day on the comp with so much to do today! Love y'all!

    JC, my man! Thanks for the comments earlier about my profile! I'm becoming such a photo whore...it's shameful! LOL

  12. BP, hey! I've done two rides the last two weeks...Tour Dallas and The Lancaster Country Ride. All I can say is that I loved them both and I will be doing both again next year! Especially since Lancaster and all the hills kicked my ass. That will NOT happen again. (I know, I'm repeating myself...but I'm still pissed about it!)

    I can't wait for the MS150! It is in less than three weeks! WOO-HOO! I'm going to my LBS today to pick up my Bicycles Inc. Team jersey...can't wait to see what they look like.

    I'm trying to find another ride to do between now and then...maybe two. There are so many to choose from! I'm hooked.

    P.S. What a great blog on the Austin MS150...now I REALLY can't wait!

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    BG and J - Cock Blocks really DO taste good? What all flavors have you tried and are there any to stay away from? As I said, I'm going to my LBS today and I think I will pick some up and try them during training to see if they will be good for the HHH. Us bandsters need COMPACT endurance nutrition. Fueling is a real pain in the ass for me on endurance rides.
    Specialized Uracco Adaptalite Sunglasses: "Specialized's Uracco glasses sport a larger lens with an excellent field of vision for road riding. Plus, they feature Specialized's Adaptalite lenses, which automatically adapt to the conditions, getting darker as it's brighter and vice versa. They provide 100% UVA and UVB protection no matter what light you're in. And, the lenses are light, ultra strong and virtually unbreakable."
    I bought these last Fall when I got my bike. This year they were rated #1 in Bicycle Magazine. They are fantastic, and I find myself wearing them all the time!
  14. TX-I heart hills. But I'd die on that ride too. You are such a trooper! There's no shame in getting your ass kicked by a ride. It gives you a base line to work against so you conquer it next time. Rock on Chica!
    Thanx, J! You heart hills?!?!? I effing HATE hills! I should have known, though...that's the only ride that shows you a topographical map! It's okay...Lancaster is close enough to go train there a couple times a month. I will be ready next year like you said!
    YOU GUYS LOOK AMAZING!!!!!
    I dont know about you....but it really hurts when you fall off the bike....LOL
    I am happy to report that I have now had my first fall! After I sagged in, got back on my bike...I was about 50 yards from my truck when a car cut me off crossing a street. I slammed on my brakes hard, and couldn't unclip as fast as I braked, so over I went! I was already mad for having to sag in, then I fall...I was so pissed that I kicked my bike off of me and sent my beauty flying! TERRIBLE three-year-old temper tantrum! An old guy in his bike shorts and nothing else came running to my rescue, and after he knew I was okay said "you just took one look at handsome me and just fell over, didn't you?" We laughed, I thanked him for helping me off the ground, and I pedaled away with a few additional scrapes and bruises...but at least the bike gods were looking out for my bike while I was falling and kicking! Not a scratch on her!
    BTW, I'm NEVER oing to reach the 100 mark. Ugh!!
    Oh yes, you will! You will be there THIS WEEK! (I've got my "swamie" turban on...making predictions now! LOL)
  15. Hey, DADDY! Way to go on the run! Love the pic! You are rockin', as usual! You are my hero, Ferris Bueller!
    TEXGIRLY...I don't FEEL like a monster! I feel defeated! I DESPISE giving up! But thank you very much for the encouragement! And I started just like you, so keep at it! I remember just last summer that I was fighting my way through my first 7 mile ride. That's the great thing about cycling...improvement comes quickly. You're doing great!
    Everyone is doing so well this month! I love it! Keep it up, y'all! :huh2:
    Well I'm not going to try to catch up from before I lost power last week...suffice it to say that I'm keeping up my weekday workouts, one body part a day, hour and a half to two hours, went 35 miles on my bike damn near all uphill on Saturday, and went for a walk with my Lab on my regular biking trail for about 15 miles on Sunday. (My gym was at half power for days...that means half the lights worked, the rest flashed like in a disco (very annoying while working out), and NO AIR CONDITIONING! But at least I was able to get a hot shower at the gym...at home it was cold showers in the dark!) I promised my Pomeranian that he would get to go next time...I just can't handle a 65 pound mutt in one hand and a 5 pound mutt in the other all at once! LOL
    Since the Lancaster Country Ride kicked my ever-lovin' ass on Saturday, I decided to up the ante for my workouts in the gym. I'm back to pushing the heavy weight with the same reps and sets. Today we did legs for two hours and I darn near passed out during the kickbacks because it was so heavy. I also added two new exercises. No pain, no gain...right? I have GOT to get my legs in shape for hills on the bike. Lancaster is close enough for me to drive to a couple times a month to train on those same hills that beat me, too. That ride will not beat me again next year!
  16. Finally got power, but don't care!
    63 mile route
    Sagged in after 35 miles
    2 hours, 17 minutes riding
    1 hour, 2 minutes stopped
    Avg. speed this event 14.4
    Usual avg. speed about 19
    Reason avg. speed down this event?
    85% of the route was UPHILL
    No lie
    G'nite...me sleepy
    Tons to report for this week, but will have to be tomorrow. I'M EXHAUSTED.
    Love & miss y'all! Will catch up on reading and post tomorrow after I recover.
