  1. Hi Everyone! I have read on many threads some great sounding Protein shakes, and I was wondering what brands they were and where you get them at. I buy the EAS ones, but they don't sound nearly as good as some of the flavors you all have mentioned. I am looking for something new- can you help me out? My other question is, my packet says once I am on full solids I should not be drinking any Protein Shakes. Yet everyone seems to be drinking them. What's the what?
  2. I don't know what I did. I am 3 weeks out and did some more bending than usual today. But for some reason when I let out my breath I get a pain in my chest/sternum area. What could this be? It is not from food, because I wasn't able to each like I usually do, and the pain started early today, when I had only eaten a yogurt- the pain started a few hours later. suggestions PLEASE!!!
  3. What the heck? Although how they fit has changed, I am still wearing pants I wore before surgery. I am down 50 and should be in a smaller size. My question to you gals, this is kind of personal, but I am 5'4 and 245 wearing size 20. For those with similar dementions, about what weight were you when you got into an 18, 16, 14, and 12? My curves are everywhere by the way, hourglass shape.
  4. I admit, I am not really exercising. I have been sick lately, but I do plan on starting to walk now that the weather is nicer. But still, where does 50 lbs go? I am loosing on top more than anything. I plan on getting a wii fit soon, and I heard yoga is quite a workout. I will try that soon. I tried on some big 18's the other day, and got them buttoned- BARELY. I am so frustraded.
  5. I had a bad week. 0 lbs lost. At least I reached my monthly goal. My goal for next month is 10 lbs.

    Pain

I had pain, but it was hunger pain ironically enough. LOL.
  7. I have talked to a lot of people who have had weight loss surgery who warn me about a replacement addiction. I was just curious what most bandsters have taken on sice their banding (new behavior, not old).

    pain in my back

I am three months out, and get severe back pain when I overeat. It lasts a couple hours and really sucks. Might not be the same thing, but I thought I would throw it out threre...
  9. Seems Cali and I are keeping up with each other!!! I am down to 245, 50 down, 100 more to go. HEY, 1/3 of the weight gone. What a relief!
  10. I called yesterday, and they said they think it is a virus, not the band, but I have to go in Monday if the problem is still going on. Last night was the worst- I thought I would die. I actually finally had "the runs" and was up most of the night. Still cramping this am though...
  11. Hi, I have not been feeling well all week, and for the past 4 days have had severe stomach and intestinal cramps (like when you have diarrhea) without the diarrhea though. I will be teaching my class or talking to someone, then double over in pain anywhere from 5 to 20 seconds. Sometimes it is only twice an hour, sometimes twice a minute. What do you think?
  12. I am down 2 lbs this week. It was getting close to the end of the week, and I did have some birthday cake for my little girls b-day. I never thought I would loose any this week. I am also enjoying being under 250. I lost weight before I got pregnant almost 5 years ago, and got down to 245. I can't WAIT to get under that mark. It is hard to believe it has been 5 years...
  13. I am on a daily antacid- but sometimes I forget. I have had bad heartburn all day. How bad is it for my band to get heartburn?
  14. Hey all, So I don't know if this happens to everyone, but I need a better deoderant. Armpit odor has changes, but Mitchem (sp) cause breakouts, so I can't use that. Any suggestions for a GOOD womans underarm deoderant?
  15. Thanks for the input- I will try the clinical strength. Before it made me break out, but I will try it again. Maybe it will be different this time.
  16. It is not about the fact you switched to mushies, it is about your body rebelling due to lack of calories. I know it is hard to get in more, try some extra protein drinks, more cottage cheese, try to get in at LEAST 1000 cals. I had the same problem and had to bump up to 1200 to loose weight. When I go for more than 5 days with less than 1000, I stop loosing again. If I eat more than 1500 I don't loose. I have to stay in between.

    Would you do it again?

If I had to go back, the only difference would be I would get the surgery that shapes your stomach like a banana, more invasive then the band, less invastive then bypass. But I would get surgery of ANY type- and would have done it sooner!!!
  18. Shrimp was on my recommended to eat lists, as was most seafood. I only couldn't have gum for the first 6 weeks (during healing stage). Why no gum for others?
  19. Yes, this has been since surgery. I noticed I only last about 1/2 a day before I start smelling like a man. The smell has changed (not for the better) and is much stronger than ever before. I hate it. I currently use degree for woman, and have tried the secret platnum. They are about the same- 1/2 a day protection
  20. Well, I am down 4 lbs this week, which is awesome. I have to credit my fill (and the 24 hr liquid diet that followed) for at least 2 of those lbs. Keep up the good work everyone!!!
  21. It really depends on the person. I can do breads, but in the afternoon. Pineapple is the only thing that has come back up, and it was in the am. I still have to eat mushies in the am. I like that though. But by night- I COULD eat anything. I don't though. I avoid stuff that is bad for me.
  22. The fewer cals I eat, the slower my loss. I have to force myself to get in 1200 cals a day, and I am not exercising. Escpecially because you are working out, you should stay between 1200-1500 calories a day- and then you should start loosing again. You will probably plateua again, the body has this natural reaction. When this happens, go down to 1000-1200 calories, etc. Keep your body guessing by changing things up. I know more cals sound counter productive, but as long as they are proteins and veggies- the more fuel, the more burn. Do NOT go below 1000 cals or the body goes in to starvation mode...

who's needs to rant and rave

I was at a plateua for a while then increased my calories to 1200-1300 cals and started loosing again. The only way I could get in that many calories, was to eat 4 meals a day, and lots of protein. I started eating 1 cup of low fat cottage cheese for breakfast instead of 1/2 cup, and added fruit to my diet. My only worry now is that I am allowed veggies (cold/raw), and am back on salads. I love salads, but am struggling to eat the chicken or other protein before I eat the veggies, and my calories dropped again. Thank goodness for full calorie dressing. There are benefits eating less but needed more calories:).
  24. I hate to think of it this way, but it tooks years of endulgance to get me to 295, it will take years of "suffering" to get back down to 150. It is hard for me because when I was in high school I went from 205 to 145 in 6 months, with a dietrician, my mother cooking, and my vollyball coach running my ass off. I guess I expected that I am so fat now that the weight will just melt off. And it did at first. I went from 295 at the start of my two week liquid pre-op diet to 265 one month post op. I thought it would stay like that. Ha! It has slowed way down- and I am trying to adjust. It is hard. I didn't even loose a whole pound this week. It gets slower and slower...It is scary.
