  1. I tried to add myself to the chart, but it wouldn't save.:grouphug: Nevermind- it saved:thumbup:
  2. I wouldn't, but I would understand why people who have really long drives would...
  3. HeatherO, Just out of curiosity, was wanting to have a baby a motivation for you to get the band, or was is a coincidental blessing. I would like to have another baby, but at this weight, it would kill me. I made this choice for many reasons, but having a baby was up way up there. Plus- ya know- living long enough for the family I have...
  4. DeniseF, I am a newbe myself with questions. But you must admit, some of the posts are down right rediculous. If you paid for you daughter to have surgery, and she ate a big burger 2 days later, would you feel the same? Doubtful. I love good questions about what to eat and when and stuff, when it is before they do it. But to just go out and do that kind of stuff- then ask for forgiveness? They knew it was wrong before, during, and after. I know we all make mistakes, and to err is human. I make mistakes too. All I was saying is that it frustrates me. Ironically you seem to be the one telling me I shouldn't feel that way. If you don't feel my frustraion, why did YOU post? I was really just looking for others who feel bad about being frustrated, like me.
  5. It is true I don't have to respond, but when I read a new post like "I ate a big burger, should I have been able to" it kills me. I just need to stop taking them seriously, because, come on, do you really not know the answer to your own question? I am far from perfect. For example, I was put on full liquid diet for weeks 2-3 post op. On Monday, I get to start purees. So what did I do on my way home from work? I stopped at Red Lobster and got my family some food to take home. I got myself some Soup and shrimp scampi. When I got home, I put the soup and shrimp in my blender and added a little milk. It was still pretty thick, but had the consistancy of chewed up cottage cheese (which is on my current menu). It had so much flavor and tasted so great. When I went to take the the 10th very small bite, my chest started to hurt a little and I hicupped. I put the rest away for tomorrow, thinking - wow, less than a half of cup made me full- right on! Now I know better than to ask if this was ok to do. In my head, I made the choice and I don't regret it. And I understand when people ask these sort of questions, because I read all the time people making little cheats, and I DO think- hey- if it is ok for them, it is ok for me. But when I see the explosion of posts in reply to really stupid mistakes (like eating a burger two days post op) I know NEVER to do something that stupid. I know what I should do, and I believe that if you should make a mistake, don't tell the others on this site "hey I did this, do you think it was wrong?" Ask real questions- don't look for forgiveness or validity for what you are doing.

    Truvia sweetener

    Thanks! That is very helpful.
  8. Anyone try the new Truvia sweetener?
  9. Typically you must stay on liquids (even food liquids) for at least 2 weeks after surgery. By eating solids, you may have put your band at risk of ripping (the stitches and stomach holding your band in place). Tell your doc what you have done and have them check it. Please try to do what you are told. Didn't they tell you about the diet before you went under the knife?
  10. Ok, so a funny thing popped into my head just a minute ago. If I posted and said "I beat the crap out of my significant other last night. I know I shouldn't have, but it was so tempting. What should I do about it?" I guarentee the replys would not be, "Awe, I so sorry to hear that. Lots of people do it. I will be ok." So if abuse to others is not tolerated, why do we accept self-abuse, which is very clear in this case. I understand we could approach it a little better, but if I messed up that bad, I would go straight to a doc for help. I certainly wouldn't post it here.

    Help!!

Try eating your food a lot slower. That way you will feel the fullness before it is too late:thumbup:
  12. Breakfast- yogurt Lunch- 1c cottage cheese Dinner- 1c old fashioned veggie soup snack-EAS protein drink
  13. You need a substitute behavior. Next time you get stressed and want to eat, get yourself in a private area and "have some special alone time" or get with your honey and do it.
  14. We could tell you everything, but hey- if I had to shovel a ton of shit to be healthy, I would do it. Is what we tell you really going to deter you if you really need the surgery?

I've got to ask this ...

For me, I have always enjoyed eating, and I eat way too much. I like high Protein diets, but I always fell off the wagon by increasing the amount I was eating. I would be so hungry on my way home from work I couldn't wait- so I would stop for fast food. That being said, if I can only eat a certain amount, and I want to keep my protein high and carbs, fat, and cals low, I will not waste it on junk food. Also, surgery is pretty intense. When someone goes through that much trouble to lose weight, they might have a tendency to try harder. I know I will work much harder. I hate surgery, I hate pain, and I am hoping that will add to my motivation and willpower. Plus, I am truely ready. I hope this was somewhat helpful. Good luck on your journey!!!

    post op food choices?

Sorry if I sounded cynical (sp?}. This is what happens when you are tired and hungry. My dietician made me start eating more and I stopped loosing weight. And I am more hungry than before:sad_smile:. I am going to endulge in a special K Protein Water, because they really do help. Dispite everything you might read or hear during the rough times, I have yet to hear anyone say it wasn't worth it. Good luck!

    post op food choices?

I hate to tell you this, but there is not a lot of variety for the first 2-3 weeks post op. And the hunger will continue until you get restriction, which could take months (for sum not till the 4th fill! I am starving. My op was 12/22. I did clear liquids week 1, full liquids week 2-3, which was cottage cheese, yogurt, creamed Soup, and oatmeal. I am in week three, and they added bean Soups and 4-6 crackers. I am looking forward to next week when I can have pureed foods like liverworst and egg salad. Unfortunately, since you will be starving, as the foods get more solid, so goes you will power, and often weight starts to come back on until restriction is good. Sorry to be the voice of reason. There are others who don't experience this. I wish I would have known before I would have months of hunger and food boredom, along with weight fluctuation.
  19. I am curious to see how many people get the plastic surgery.
  20. Can I ask a foolish question? I see a lot of people use pb. What is pb?
  21. I just ordered the book Eating Well After Weight Loss Surgery: Over 140 Delicious Low-Fat High-Protein recipes to Enjoy in the Weeks, Months and Years After Surgery I heard it was an excellent book. I will let you know what I think of it when it arrives.

    Tastes different?

Ironically enough, not having many carbs and lots of protein, I still crave protein. I would LOVE some braunshweiger and cheese!! Next week when I can have it my friend is taking me to Frankenmuth to have some liver pate' (sp?). I am also craving fish. The only sweets I am really craving are the sugar cookies left over in the kitchen that aren't getting eaten fast enough. I am ready to through them away to get them out of sight!
  23. I have to eat less than 1000 cals to lose or not gain. Although I had 800 yesterday and gained 1 lb back. I think that might be "Aunt Flo" weight (I hope).
  24. Great job! Keep of the good work, and don't get discouraged as you eat more solid foods, your weight loss may stop or reverse- just be ready... Great to read such a positve post!!!

    chicken~

I was told that if you really like to each chicken, which I do, you must eat it with something juicy or slimey. I was recommended marinades, gravey, or other sauce.
