  2. Hey lady,

I just wanted to stop by and say hello. I got a chance to read some of your blog and it was sooooo encouraging. I started this journey at about 280 pounds. I'm now down to 254 and am scheduled to have my surgery on March 30th. I noticed in your blog you referenced having the band as if you were "going on tour". I'm a musician, too and we just came off tour for the month of February, so I loved your tour reference!

Wishing you much success in your journey, girl.

    Be well,

    Wishin you much success, lady.

    Why huge plateaus after banding??

I also wanted to say, don't forget that muscle weighs more than fat. I would ask, how are your clothes feeling? Are you still getting smaller in size? Generally when you are working out like you should you are also building muscle and toning up, so you might be having more muscle mass, which would make it true, you aren't losing pounds, but you are probably still slimming down. I hope this helps and that you feel better. You still made the incredible decision to have this surgery and to take 50+ pounds off of your body. Congratulations! -music

    2/22/09 Scale Whore

Wow, I am so glad to read these posts, lol. When I first starting working on getting my surgery done, I refused to get on the scale. I think I even threw mine away cause I can't find it now and will have to buy another one. I thought that by not getting on the scale, I could hold myself accountable by keeping my eating in check and weighing in at the Bariatric center. My surgery date is March 30th, but I've been slipping recently and haven't been keeping to my diet program. So, I've decided to buy a scale and get back on track monitoring my progress. I definitely do not want to get to my surgery date and not be able to get my band .

I have failed my band - SUPPORT GROUP

Hey Ibbanded, Wow, I could completely relate to your psot and also to your renewed commitment to getting back on track. I haven't been banded yet, I go in on March 30th, but I have noticed myself slipping back into some old patterns recently. I wish you the best of luck and hope that by talking to us you feel more encouraged and strengthened (as I do from reading all of the posts). -music
  6. So, I was thinking today, about the conversations I've had with people about my decision to get the Lap Band surgery. And I'm really surprised at the responses I've gotten, even from some of my overweight friends. Several of them have said "oh no, don't get the surgery, let's go walking together". Which is what they all say but never stick to. I can't tell you how many times I have flat out begged my friends for help with motivation, admitting that I'm to the point where I can't do this alone. And several have agreed that they're in the same boat. But when I call to go walk, they don't answer, or when I stop by their desk and say "hey let's go" there's always a reason. Now don't get me wrong. I am well aware that the ONLY reason I am overweight is because I ate this far to get here. The only reason why I am at the weight I am is because somewhere along the line, I gave up believing in myself. I know this. And frankly, admitting that gives me the first measure of hope I've had in a long time. However, I also know that I have become addicted to food. Like a drug. Eating has taken over my body and my life. And it's hard to admit that, but even harder to hear my friends stiff objection to this surgery. How many other options are out there to help people face their addictions? There's the patch to quite smoking, the methadone clinic, and several hundred different alcoholic cessation programs. But when I feel like I've finally found some help, then people are all of a sudden "concerned". As if me being almost 300 pounds doesn't cause concern enough!! At any rate, if you're reading this, thanks for putting up with my rant. I have my first visit with the nurse scheduled on January 12th, 2008! I am really excited and relieved. Finally, I'm starting to DO something, instead of feeling trapped!

My thoughts on family and friends' lack of support

Hey Sonipez, I had an appointment with Dr. Schneider, he was so nice and patient with me that I decided to choose him. I'm really glad I did. I know that people like Dr. Jones, but since I hadn't met Dr. Schneider yet, I wanted to wait and see what he was like. My surgery is on March 30th, I can't wait. How are you doin?

  9. What's goin on Miss GG Band Star? I loved that last video, no restriction DOES suck! Especially for me, who hasn't been banded yet. I just had a horrific two weeks where my diet went down the tubes. I don't know, it's like the minute the doctor told me I'd lost 18 pounds, I just started eating everything in sight. UGH.....

Anyhoo, girl keep up the good work. And thanks for the entertaining videos :). I don't know where you live, but all the way in Boston, you keep encouraging me. Best of luck to you!

  10. Oh wow, girl I could just copy your introduction and put it right into mine, I am right there with you. I just turned 30, am a musician and college student. I've done plus sized modeling, but stopped because I am tired of not being able to fit the clothes I want to wear. And forget about Runway, I'm way too self-conscious now. I want to jog, swim (i'd be happy with a fly tankini, but a two-piece would put me over the moon, lol). And wasn't I just planning a pole-dancin' party for a girlfriend of mine not a month ago? lol. We are determined to learn and I'm hoping that we can pull the party off at my place (for private purposes of course). Oh! And I'll be getting SisterLocks next week, I love your hair lol.

Girl, all I can say is best of luck to you! It was encouraging reading your post/intro today. Be well.
