I am 5 ft. 1 inch and weigh 228. I do not have any health problems but PCOS so I am hoping it will be no problem. Can't wait!!!!!

Thank You! Has anyone else had any issues with Tricare?

For me it was:
1. realizing that I was fatter than I thought
2. Having to lift my belly to wash under it
3. Hating to shop for clothes when I always loved it before
4. My husband commenting that he sure would like to take me to Victoria Secret but what's the point?
I don't even need to go on.....there are so many reasons I am doing this! I am thankful I have insurance and I can make a change in my life!

I have PCOS (poly cystic ovarian syndrome) and was wondering if anyone out there has it and how it affected your weight loss with the band. Do you take Metformin to control it? If you do, how does it affect you? Can you still lose weight with the band if you have PCOS?
Thanks for all your help in advance.

My PCM and the nurse at Dr. Nye's office said Tricare is easy to get approved and that start to finish is about 6 weeks til surgery. Anyone had hsi happened or not happen? Thanks for all you help!

Hi All,
I am hoping to have my sugery sched. for late Jan. or early Feb. I was wondering if anyone here has used Dr. John Nye in Pensacola Fla. I have not met him yet but was referred by a friend who's husband used him to remove a gall bladder. I researched his credentials and he seems to be a premier surgeon in the weight loss field. If anyone has used him, please tell me what you think. I am in desperate need of encouragement here!
Thanks,
Karen

:wink_smile:Hi All,
I am in the process of applying for the band via Tricare. I had my PCM put in my referral yesterday. She said I was an "ideal" candidate. Call me crazy, but that made me smile. First time being heavy made me ideal for anything! I was so glad that she feels as though I can do this and Tricare will approve me. She said it she has 4 woman who have done it and they are doing wonderfully. No problems and swear it is saving there lives. I am so looking forward to the change. I am 225 pounds and only 5'1. I am a size 22-24 and I am only 33 yrs. old. I want a different life. My husband alternates between wanting me to lose and saying I am fine.
Now I am doing this FOR ME! I can't wait and I am already exercising and drinking tons of Water. I stopped sodas about 2 mos. ago and now I am thinking of see a behavioral therapist to get me on the right track. I am looking forward to getting to know people here.
