  1. Am five years post banding and after three years, I reached my goal weight of 172 lbs. (can I have a round of applause, please? Go ahead, I'll wait!) while that may sound heavy still to some,it is the goal set by my physician and local WW leader. I lost over 170 pounds and am working hard to keep it off. My skin looks like the dog, Beethovan, with his head out a car window, but that is why I dress strategically . The surgery was the tool I needed to become healthier and more active. I no longer need blood pressure medication! I can water ski again, I love my kick boxing and spinning .,just being able to go into a room without looking for a safe place to sit is a blessing in itself! I thank you all for the support and help along the way. Peg
  2. thank you..one pound at a time. I joined weight watchers (again!) to have the accountability of a weekly weigh in. That really helped me have a specific, measure of my progress or lack of. Keep me posted. Peggy

Hate the attention from my weight loss

Tell them you only need to lose one pound...at a time. After a while, they get the idea. One at a time. The next five, ten, fifty do not matter until you get that one off!

Hate the attention from my weight loss

Having lost 170pounds, I have people that literally walk right by me that I haven't seen for years, yet once knew them pretty well. Let it go. Appreciate the compliments and look at their interest as if you will motivate others. I keep the idea in my head that I was only trapped in the bigger body and the person is the same. Be honest. I told people, if they asked, that if only need to lose one pound...at a time. After a while, they get the idea. Good luck.peg
  5. I have not been on this site for ages and thought I would visit some old friends. I am three years post lap band and am down 173#!!! I will add a new pic when my kids get home!!(incapable me). I feel and look like a different person. I am more confident, more physically active and strong! I do kickboxing, spinning, as well as the elliptical, etc. last summer I got up on water skiis, something I have not done in over 20 years.iI went zip lining twice, wave runners in the Bahamas, all the things I longed to do but was too embarrassed or too big to try. My best friend bought me a pass to the local amusement park in Cincinnati, knowing I am dying to fit on all those rides again. Hope the old lady's inner ear thing is not an issue. I really don't care. I am going! If nothing else, I hope I am a role model for my children, to NOT put the weight on and to take it off when they are 10 pounds over, not 180! UGH! Be persistent and keep trying to live a healthy lifestyle! Stay active, it feels great!Peggy

    Lap-Band AP - Large Band 14cc

I also have a 14 cc band, surgery feb 09. I think I have about 8cc in there and I am down 110 pounds. I am too brain damaged to move my chain( I will have to ask my teenager). My weight loss is slow but steady. Peg:smile:
  7. :cursing:I was banded on feb 3rd and feel great. while i read it is common to be hungry after one week, i have been diligent to eating mushies, high protein and getting about 80 oz fluid per day. i asked my dietician, who is new to this job,how many calories should i be consuming. she said i should not be able to take 1000 calories for six months. i am close to that now, but i think you need a certain amount to stimulate your metabolism. i thought she was wrong, but what the hell do i know? i can eat with absolutely no feeling of any restriction and i am honestly making good choices. the scale is up two pounds since surgery!!! shoot me now!peg:cursing:
  8. thank you for your reply. i have had a second fill since my original post and i have pretty good restriction. i still write down my calories, protein and fluid amounts in a daily journal. i am going to the gym about four times a week, cutting grass and walking on the off days. i am down 43.5 pounds at the three month mark, so I am doing fine,i hope.i even went to the beach with my best friend for my 50th and while gone nine glorious days, i even lost weight!! that is a first!:thumbup:keep in touch, peggy

    body shapers

I am so much bigger than you but I finally tried a spanx and it felt great. everything felt pulled in and firm for a change!! i bought the one that comes up to your bra but it was not uncomfortable at all. also the legs are loose like thin stockings so you did not see a bulging line. i think I looked better too. hope this helps. down 45 in three months, long way to go. peggy

    FEB 3rd!!!! WOOT WOOT!!!

Well, us Feb3rd banders are three months out and I was wondering how you all are doing? I had my second fill two weeks ago and have restriction now. Four of my best friends kidnapped me and took me to Florida for a week to celebrate my 50th, and for the first time in my life, I actually lost weight on vacation while still enjoying myself!!!(even a few margaritas). I am down 45 pounds and feel better already. (Need to figure out how to fix my ticker, among other things!) Keep in touch,Peggy

    Eating Too Much?

I just received my second fill this morning,I now have a total of 4.5 cc in a 14 cc band. I had no restriction, in fact, I could eat a six inch subway without a hitch. While I made a wise choice in food, I know the volume allowed was too dangerous for me. I hope I have more restriction with my new fill.

    Lap-Band AP - Large Band 14cc

i also had a 14 cc band two months ago/ i only have 3cc instilled but i get another fill tomorrow as i have no real restriction yet. i am down 35-40 pounds and have yet to learn to change my ticker. have a good one!
  13. I walk and stand half of my day and i took off three work days. No problems.
  14. I was never told to take an hour to eat. Just to chew it thoroughly and eat slowly. When it is gone, it's gone. I think if you spent an hour eating a small amount, that is an unrealistic approach and whatever it is would be cold or curdled!! Hahaha. Good luck.

    FEB 3rd!!!! WOOT WOOT!!!

Good morning to all the Feb 3rd banders! We will be 2 months out tomorrow and I was wondering how everyone was feeling? I had my first fill (3cc) three weeks ago and I do not feel much restriction, if any. However, I am down 34 pounds as of this morning and hope that I can keep doing it on my own. Now I have to get my teenager to show me how to update my ticker. I have to look at it as I am making progress and doing better than I was two months ago! Have a good one! Peggy:thumbup:
  16. I will be 2 months out tomorrow and am down 32 pounds so I guess I am pleased. I just have to figure out now how to move my ticker!

Just got first fill on Monday

I also just had my first fill, 3 cc in a 14 cc band. The doc told me to stick with pureed foods for a couple of days, but I ate some really soft fish and mashed potatoes for dinner today and felt no restriction. I hear it can take more than one fill, so I will just track my calories and protein and plod on.
