Well, insurance gave me the go ahead and I am getting banded on Feb. 3rd. Scared, excited, all mixed with a thousand different emotions. I am on the two week pre op protein shake diet. While I can't say I am enjoying it, I am determined to succeed. I am mostly concerned with the recovery diet, when I can advanced to full liquids, etc. How do you get all your nutrients in taking 2-3 oz. ? I need suggestions. I did buy some vanilla whey powder, yet I am not sure what I will do with it. Any help is appreciated. Peg

  3. jaffa steve, i too could benefit from a bypass, being 130 overweight. i am waiting for my late jan banding date. my surgeon also thinks i would do well with the gb but as an endoscopy nurse, i have seen all the train wrecks and i cannot erase that fear from my head. my brother also had a gb, did well for a while, and now is gaining it back. i know we can undo anything a surgeon can do to help us, but I want the lb to work so much. i am so sorry about your brother and your loss. peggy
  4. hi lisa,my name is peggy and i get my preop teaching on jan 12 and begin my preop liquid diet. i am scared...not of the surgery, but that i am making the wrong decision by not getting a bypass. i have a lot to lose but am relatively healthy. i hope we both are successful and enjoy a healthy, happy future. good luck!
  5. i am happy to see there is someone who has a lot to lose also. my doctor thinks i would benefit from a bypass yet i am too scared to do that.i pray we achieve our goals, not to be skinny but to be healthy, happy and well in spirit.
  6. thanks for the tip. i am pre banding (mid january) and need all the info i can get. good luck!
  7. I am anticipating getting a lap band in January, after my insurance changes to cover it. I am scared, excited,a little embarrassed to admit I need surgical help. But I will just have to get over it and dedicate my emotions to healing and getting healthy. I know my relationships with friends ,family and food will change. Let's face it,everything we do together is based around celebrating with food, dinners ,parties, etc. I am scared but ready. My brother had a gastric bypass about three years ago and he did great but he now is gaining it back. He never addressed his emotional connection to food and this scares me to death. I hope I can find friends and support through all of you.
