I have quite bad adhesions from past surgery and in the process of trying to unravel the adhesions they cut into my stomach so that had to be stiched and needs to heal before the next attempt. I was warned there could be problems and I have the most wonderful surgeon but feel a little down hearted at this stage. yes I think he will use the same holes but I am finding it hard on the preop diet for so long 600 calories is not much,

I went in for banding on 18th dec and after two hours of tryng to get through the adhesons they closd me up and a re going to triy agan on 13 Jan. I am tyng to stay on the preop diet which is beginning to make me rather bad tempered but dont want to undo all the good work I did pre op. I hav lost 15lbs a so far but have had some bad days of pain from the six wounds. I had a shocking day with wind yesterday as though I was going to have an attach of the upset tummy. I am wondering if anyone else has had a failed banding attempt and what the second attempt was like.

i found that really i didnt eat very much but I still couldnt lose weight, vertual starvation was the only thing that worked, as with the alcoholic it takes less and less to get them drunk

i know about being the clown and feeling protected by ones fat. i dont think there is enough emphasis on the reasons (besides what we put in our mouths) around the psycological and addictive nature of obesity. AA deals with these problems but because the disease is so visable the internal nature is not addressed

The great thing about the band is that we lose slowly enough for our heads to catch up to our weight loss.

what a sensible comment and such a help for those who have the fear of coping with thinness after years (45 in my case)

thank you and I will use the comment as my mantra when I feel nervous.

i am inpressed that you have almost reached your goal BMI and am intereted in the emotional impact of becoming thin. everyone says it is great but also after years of being over weight the change must take some adjustment!
