  1. never really thought about it... then again I'm thinking if I do a moderate amount of daily exercising and weight lifting that can help... correct me if I am wrong. Lolz although I wonder how one might get a prescription for that. What have you found out Andrew?

  2. my doc said about 6 weeks for both.

Wow 6 weeks... I'd go crazy but then again all in the name of health... much luck!

I'm pretty much back to my normal activities... not over doing it though.

Quick question... anyone consider hiring a personal trainer to tone up and build muscle? if anyone has you're input will be greatly appreciated!

  3. I was banded last week and I am still in the mushy foods stage! I am at work and didn't bring anything to eat because I was late... wondering what can I eat because the tummy is growling! lolz. Is chicken noodle souple alright (just the stock/broth)? I am tired of the greek yogurt and the chicken baby foods... I need some help! quick! The area I work in is in NYC, just a looooot of fancy restaurants and like one deli... hence the Soup option :bored:.

  4. I have noticed that my muscles aren't as hard anymore... I was being all vain and looking into the mirror and noticed that when I flexed my arms they seemed flabbier with less muscle since last week. Has anyone experienced this?? I was banded this past monday and am thinking about lifting 5 to 10 lbs of weight in the mean time because I do not want to lose the tone of my arms !

  5. Thank you all for your responses! I was actually driving perfectly today, lol I seem to be healing rather well... now I am about to transition back to the Protein Shakes and start on baby foods... as for sex... I can't pay attention to my body because it would already want it! lolz... but how badly would it be?

  6. Thank you TwlightLover83!! So I shall start up slow and take it form there gradually!

Wonderwoman, I was banded yesterday, I feel fine but I shall take off couple days from work. I am a technician and the doctor suggested to wait until monday, but I feel fine! You should hold on for couple days and depends on the nature of your job. Hope that helps!

  7. A personal question here! I was banded yesterday the 15th and I forgot to ask my doctor, but how soon can I resume having sex? Also what about driving? how soon can I resume driving?

In terms of fitness, anyone here who has lapband performed has managed to get their skin tight just on exercise alone? I've read some people have a Tummy Tuck and what not, but anyone here achieved it through exercise alone?

Thanks in advance for any responses!!

  8. Hey banders! My name is Jeremy and I was banded yesterday.

I know it is too soon to worry about exercising, I have to wait a month or so but I wanted to post something and interact with others and see how long you waited and what type of exercise you guys did?

Quite honestly I wanted to hire a personal trainer but kind of skeptical on it. I am committed to losing weight and have a positive attitude towards acheiving whatever I can! I set my expectations at a low bar so I don't get disappointed if I don't achieve what I initially desired!

  9. Hi there...

Good luck on your surgery. He really is a great guy. I'm going in for my first fill today and I'm really excited.

Best of luck and if you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask.

    Rosa

Thank You Rosa! how was your fill?? Everything went excellent and he is very nice, I have to see him on July 1st and am excited. I was unable to sleep last night but perhaps it is a side effect of the anethesia or maybe because I thought I had to sleep sitting up. How much weight have you lost?? Thanks again and good luck!

  10. Hi, You've decided to take a giant step in your life and all the information and support you can gather around you will be helpful. I am in an HMO organization and have had to go through almost a whole year of prep before being presented for LapBand surgery. In small groups we met 4 times with a nutritionist and have been given a whole binder of info about the effects of the surgery, the necessary diet, the necessary supplements, and more. I was irked at first that I would have to wait over a year for the surgery, but now I am so glad that I have learned all this stuff, I think it will be much more successful than if not. It was also necessary for us to see the psychologist, physical therapist, nutritionist, and physician regularly throughout this prep period. Remember the surgery is not a magic cure, it will take some hard work and adjustments on your part to make it successful... please educate yourself well about the procedure and the necessary diet adjustments you will have to go through. Also look at the differences between lapband and regular gastric bypass so you are sure you are getting what will work best for you. Best of luck to you. Linda P.

Thank You Linda! all good vibes I can get the better. My sister had the regular gastric done and I was a first hand witness of the difficulties of keeping up with the diet and with her help I am doing a lot of research and prepping before going to the next steps. Again thank you for your response and all others welcome.

  11. Howdy all!!!

I am in talks with my doctor to have LapBand procedure done. He said it would be wise to schedule and appointment with a psychologist and a nutritionist as of now so when I meet whatever surgeon I decide at the end, we have a case built up. I would like to speed the process up, so I do have a couple of questions and in advance I thank youuys for any input you have have.

I live in New York City, anyone who has HIP would recommend a nutritionist and psych? Also is it true that the psychologists don't take insurance when evaluating someone for surgery? Finally, if you do know of any, would you happen to know if they work evenings and/or weekends?

Again thanks guys! lol I'm so stoked at the prospect of losing weight and getting my surgery.

My sister had regular gastric surgery done and wow... she looks like a different person.

  12. Hello everyone!
