  1. My port is also in the front center.

Your after surgery diet seems to be like mine. You will find that as the swelling goes down around you band, you will feel more hungry. Your body is still heeling.

When you eat real food you will definitely know where your band is. You can feel your port from the outside, but the band itself...you'll feel over to the left under your ribcage on the inside.

    Good luck!

  2. Gosh...I'm so sorry that no one at the hospital told you guys about the gas pains residing in the shoulders! AFter my surgery they actually put me on the heart patient floor (the one they go to after ICU)! The nurses were all so sweet and said that because lapband is so high in the abdomen that we have the same sorts of side effects as heart patients. The CO2 is supposed to absorb into your blood stream....but works better if you move around, i.e. walk.

Also, my doc sent me home with an RX of acid reducer. It was a yummy liquid that really seemed to help. I have a little left over and when the pain in the shoulder even creeps in a little, I take a swig of that RX stuff!!!:)

  3. I'm pretty new at this....but my surgeon explained to me that I need to think of the band as a "tool" not the "solution"! It sounds like you've been through a lot and I too would be frustrated in your situation, but perhaps you should try to change your line of thinking! Try to think positively and remember, even though it's not the beginning for you....you can start a new beginning for yourself! I hope you have a support system at home too!

    Good luck!

  4. I'm a little shocked you can't have broth. I agree that you should ask just to make sure. You should also ask if you can have crystal light or something also.

The liquid diet before surgery was not too hard for me b/c my husband did it with me. Then when i wheeled back to surgery he went out to Taco Bell!! :) He's so silly!

I think you'll be fine...stay strong! Do you work? That helped me a lot....working during the day! You also need to invest in lots of sugar free gum....just don't swallow it.

Oh wait....I could also have 1 sugar free popsicle every day!

Well, all docs are different! Just know that his rules are for your best interest!:Banane20:

  5. Which part of Arkansas??

    Where is your doctor located?

I grew up in Fort Smith and my husband grew up in Pine Bluff (Watson Chapel). I've only banded a few weeks. I'd love to know how much you've lost and how you knew when to stop eating! I haven't mastered that yet and I get too full and it hurts pretty bad for about 30 minutes or so.

  6. Well, I am new to the site but very excited! I got my lab band placed last Wednesday and go see my surgeon today for my post op appt! I can't wait to see how he thinks I am doing. I figured rather than reading some of the past posts that I would start fresh, rather than getting nervous by reading some of what others have posted!

I'm a 3rd grade teacher in TX! My husband leaves for Iraq around January 10 or so...... It's his second time to go. He is in the Army. I have 3 children and never lost one ounce of baby weight it seemed! I've been a roller coaster on the scales since my freshman year of college!

Can't wait to meet some new people in my same "lap band world"!
