  1. Hmm, Not heard of them. Not wanting to rain on your parade, but everytime I've had an insurance switch - PREEXISTING CONDITIONS are NOT covered for at least a 1 year period. And these were group covered insurance programs. They get you coming and going - I believe they really don't want to pay and they don't care if they help you or not. Terry
  2. OH GOOD GRIEF! They will find anything to keep from having to pay! Watch out! - it might be hangnails next! Terry
  3. Unless you do a LOT of heavy lifting, I would think a week max would be about all you need off. Terry
  4. Hip Hip Hooray! Your on your way!!! Best to you. - Keep us informed! Terry
  5. Charlif - I didn't mean to offend you with my comment about your hubby. I apologize. MLT45 - Wow, there is still a lot of ignorance in this country. Now that man is an @$$ !!!!!!! Terry
  6. I know it's not cheap. My insurance would not cover it and so I am self pay. DH and I are not exec's! This is a MAJOR fianacial loan for us to payback. I figure I'm looking at very few NEW clothes for several years. Just have to go back DOWN through my sizes in the closet. (hope the moths have not had a hey-day! lol) Probably no big vacations for awhile either. (O.K. hubby feels the need to elk hunt each fall with his brothers-I think it's one of those male bonding things!) I am soooooo thankful for DH that he didn't bat an eyelash when I wanted this surgery AND he knew we would have to finance it. What I'm trying to say is, your health and life outlook is so worth it! Yes, look for a good deal-with an excellent surgeon. I've heard the Mexico doc's are excellent. I don't know if travel cost from Canada would eat up the difference, but don't think SO MUCH about the cost now as what you save in your life and future health. I hope you are successful in your band journey! Terry:)
  7. O.K. Here's a BIG TEXAS YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWWW hope that helps Terry
  8. Isn't this place remarkable?!!! Welcome! from someone on the other side of the globe. Wishing you the best in your journey. Terry
  9. Big hugs to your daughter! (((hug))) I too wish this surgery would have been around when I was her age. I think my life may have been different in some areas. Best wishes to you too - I hope you are able to get your band soon. Keep in touch. Terry
  10. Never had a program fee. I was self-pay, it was $15,000.00 for the whole shebang and that included a visit with the Nutritionist, Counselor and a year of fills. There is also a support group. Terry
  11. Zoe, don't we just love the support our hubbies give us!!! Sounds exactly like something my DH would do. Terry:)
  12. Wow! ITs great to have you here! I'm a newbie and it is wonderful to have a PIONEER of sorts to talk to. I hope you hang around and continue to let us ask you questions about your journey. Terry
  13. I hear ya Paul, I also have BC/BS and had to be self pay. ANYTHING dealing with obesity in my plan was excluded! Terry
  14. People will always speak out more on the negative. I've also been told to remember that there are many successful bandsters that do not post because they are happily living their normal weight lives. Go ahead with your appointment. Terry

Herbalife has been around for a long time. I remember it back in the 80's - I was living in the Rocky Mountain area.Yeah its one of those pyramid marketing things. Like has already been said, you might lose weight, but it's also cause your eating good, exercise, etc. IMHO it would be like using slimfast, etc and Vitamins. I'm not saying it's bad, just I don't think it's anything really special. It's another marketing scheme. Terry:)
  17. Again, Congratulations!!!! I'm only starting my band journey. You are an inspiratation to us all!!! Terry
  18. I just had to do a high protein, low carb diet for 2 weeks before surgery. Terry
  19. SOme doc's give you at fill at surgery and some, like mine, make you wait several weeks before any fills start. I don't know that there's a right or a wrong to this - it's just how they do it. I also was not hungry for about 10 days after surgery. Then when the initial swelling goes down, my appetite came back. I don't eat like I use to - but I can eat a more "normal" size portion with no problem. I am so looking forward to my first fill!!! So, IMHO your perfectly normal Terry
  20. Welcome, I'm a new bandster too. Yes, there are lots of supportive people here. You have come to the right place! Terry:)
  21. Wow, so many of these things are true for me too. I avoid pictures. I've even cut up and thrown some away of me. There is no full length mirror in the house. I avoid SO MANY social situations. I stopped riding my horses. I don't even want people over to my house. I don't speak up in conversations - dont want people thinking who's the fat lady with the big mouth! I've hidden myself too. Just too hard to get out there in public. No swimming or sun bathing. Avoiding the doctors office Avoiding the dentist office - those skinny little dentist chairs - my arms hang out and it's so uncomfortable. It's a wonder hubby even wants to be around me, but he has been so supportive of my decision to have this done. Terry
  22. Charlif - sorry your hubby is such an @$$. Sounds very self absorbed to me. I agree alot with what Monk said. Do your research and do this for yourself. My hubby is on board with this 'cause he loves me and wants what is best for me. He was nervous about it, but understood that as far as surgeries go, this one is relatively safe. You have lots of support here (((hugs))) Terry
  23. Hedwig it varies and is a very good question to ask your band doc. A year of fills was included in my price. I can't get one though closer than 4 weeks apart. My package also included a 6 month and 1 year check-up with labs. Find out what you paid for! Terry
  24. Josette, Ouch, sorry for all the rude people in your life. I'm with your dad and brother. Also, I believe that God helps those who help themselves. Terry
