    Weight Goals

During my initial consult, I was given a questionaire about weight gain, eating habits and goals. I set my goal at 200lbs and the PA said my goal was very conservative. Their goal weight for me is 177lbs...so, I decrease my goal to 190lbs...still conservative, I guess but, I'd be darn happy with it. They do use a formula to come up with your goal weight.

    Surgery Stories

Just read your surgery story and it sounds like you had an awesome team...and home that afternoon ...lucky duck :huh2: Glad to read it all went perfectly. I'm still struggling to get 32oz of Water...let alone 64
  7. Your welcome and congrats on dropping 8lbs ...it's so nice to see the scale moving in the right direction :)

I'm great, worked out for 90 mins today and feel amazingly well.

  8. You're a bandster!!!

For the gas pains, I used gas X strips and a heating pad...I would like on my back with the heating pad across my upper chest/stomach and turn every ten mins...which helped me move the gas....and sippin warm broth helped as well...

I saw my surgeon on Friday the 10th and he advanced me to first phase of mushies...he said I could have hot cereal (thin oatmeal is ok) soft scramble egg and mash potato...he said to wait a week for soft meats..like tuna and chicken salad...beef should be tried last since it's hard for the body to breakdown. So, my first mushie meal was cream of wild rice soup...but, this time I didn't strain it...as I had been doing. Are you on full liquids yet? Have you weighed yourself yet?

  9. Isopure available at GNC stores...is a cyrstal lite like drink with 40 grams Protein in a 20oz bottle
  10. I'm no fan of the Protein powders either, but, I find that the soy Protein Powder taste isn't as overwhelming as the whey protein ... also, Isopure available at GNC is like a cyrstal lite drink..but, 40 grams of protein in a 20oz bottle is an awesome alternative to a shake. Hang in there...as everyone else said...it does get better...I was banded July 1st...and my funk was because I missed my routine and was bored out of my mind...not working...but, I made peace with it...totally spun the story in my head...that this is my time to totally focus on myself...I went for a pedicure...have a full body massage planned and I'm going on a day trip with a friend that I rarely get to see because she lives 4 hours away. Think of all the positives....that's what really helped me.

    July 1st Surgery Stories

Hey gang, Had my post op check up this afternoon. Down 6 lbs by their scale fully clothed but, I was down 7.9 naked on my scale at 7am. He advanced my diet to first stage of mushies starting tomorrow....God love him...he doesn't require pre op liquid diet and now, he's advancing a week earlier. My first fill is scheduled for Aug 21st.
  13. I'm sorry you are having such a tough time. I was banded on July 1st and thankfully, I've had no real pain but, when I do get that horrible gas pain after drinking...I use a gas x strip and use my heating pad and the combination somehow makes me feel better in a matters of mins, I'm belching and feel relief. And, please take something for the pain...don't suffer and if need be call your surgeon. Thinking of you, Regina

    July 1st Surgery Stories

Morning Mary, You are very welcome. I have read about the people who hated their band and went for the vertical sleeve...I say to each their own. For me, it's about appetite and portions ...the band will take care of the portions and from some of the research it looks like it affect appetite as well. I personally don't want to have my GI system re-route so, that I am in a malabsorptive state...I don't want to lose weight so rapidly that my skin appears to be melting off me. Which means even more, painful surgeries. Stay positive and take every thing you read with a grain of salt. We are all individuals with different motivations and struggles with the same problem. My motivation for the surgery was not to be thin....but, to prevent Diabetes and to get off my blood pressure medicine...now, the thin is just going to be a happy coincidence LOL I'm thinking of you, Regina

    July 1st Surgery Stories

OK, so I was climbing the walls and wanted out of the house. I talked around Target and of course bought totally random stuff...happens everytime I go to that store LOL Getting in and out of the MINI was fine, I actually raised the seat so I wouldn't be so low and that probably helped a great deal. It was an amazingly beautiful day here 82 degrees, bright sunshine and a warm breeze. Got out of the car and came up the stairs and into the apartment and was so nausea...nausea to the point that clear fluid/extra saliva was forming...I was little afraid...tried to stay calm...had a gas X strips and raised my arms over my head and took some deep breaths...it worked, I didn't vomit and the feeling past within 5 mins. I think all that movement, stirred up that remaining gas....I had no futher problems...an hour later I was sippin on another coffee flavored Protein shake. I was tired, the last few nights I'd only been sleeping 3 hours at a time... so, I took a vicodin and got a solid 6 hours of sleep...only problem...I slept 930p to 330a...so, I'm here writing about yesterday and sippin my first 4 oz Protein Drink of the day. It's gonna be a long day LOL
