  1. I had my lapband done February 24th. I pushed the envelope and ate a cheese stick on the fly. I took tiny half inch bites and maserated it to mush before swallowing. Well, it did no good. That cheese stick sat in my tummy like a gum wad for nearly two hours of misery. I wll not be doing any more cheese sticks anytime soon.

Wii are ready to work out!

Hey....I haven't got Wii Fit yet but I do have Dancing with the Stars and I love it. I use my legs and hips along with the wii mote and numchuk to really boost up my work out. WInning two trophys takes about 20 minutes and I love the music. I also have Dance Revolution Dance Party 2 with the mat that goes on the floor and your feet have to follow the screen. It is really hard and I can only do a few of the beginner songs. I am sweating and breathing hard doing only 10 minutes or so for all the jumps it requires. I really need to work up to that one. My next investment will be Wii Fit. It sounds like a blast.
  3. I did another 20 minutes of Dancing with the Stars on Wii. I get my hips and legs into it to really work everything best I can and sweat a little. I have bad knees too and am really hoping the extra weight loss will help. I have a friend whose chronic knee pain went away with her weight loss of over 100lbs post banding. That is what I am wishing for too!
  4. I use Daily Plate too! It really is a no brainer. You can see immediately if you are up/down in protein or calories. I get a good portion of my daily protein by adding 2 scoops of beneprotein to an Adkins Advantage drink. I blend it real good and try to get it as cold as possible. I agree that I have to really push it to get beyond 800 calories a day in. I have been tracking on Daily Plate only since Friday and I have slowly been going up on calories. I feel pretty good over all. I am not starving at all. I can really tell when I need to eat.

I am so tired of liquids

Mostly I blend chunky soups with veggies or meat. I can thin it with water or broth and get it pourable/drinkable. Its still thick enough that it gives me some substance to keep from getting hungry quickly. I also will blend Atkins shake with 2 scoops Beneprotein for a whopping 23gram protein drink. The liquid diet post op is a little different from the liquid diet pre-op. Our goal now is not to shrink our livers but to take it easy on our new tummys while healing.

I am so tired of liquids

I am so grateful for my Magic Bullet blender. I guess getting sucked into that infomercial wasn't so bad after all. I bought it two years ago and hardly used it but now I use it every day since being on liquids pre and post op. It's the perfect tool for this phase of diet.
  7. Whoo! I did it. Won two trophys in the amateur level. Anyway...I just got banded on the 24th of this month. I am still on liquids until Monday. How thin are all those items you mentioned and how much can you eat of them before feeling full?
  8. Ok, I read the plan to start exercising for us Fabulous February Bandsters....good God...I was putting this off. I walked in Walmart for nearly an hour today...does that count? I am still having gas pains in my left shoulder BUT with this challenge I AM going to get up right now and do at least 20 minutes of Dancing with the Stars on Wii. Wish me luck!

    I'm Gurgling...

I imagine you are right. I could not fathom having all the pressure build up if I couldn't burp to release it:crying:. I just hope your right about it being temporary and it will settle down over time.

    I'm Gurgling...

BTW - I use Gas X like crazy to no avail.

    I'm Gurgling...

I have a tremendous amount of gurgling but worse yet is the burping. I do it damn near non-stop. It does not matter if my stomach is empty, full of fluids or even with a spoonful of tuna or egg. I tried the softer food to see if it went away and nope I still burp big time. I hope to God this is not going to be the case for the rest of my life. I see the doc for my first post op visit on Monday.

I am so tired of liquids

FYI - fluffy eggs made with milk were on my liquid diet. Call and ask if you can add that. Just make sure they are not dry and hard after you cook them. They should "melt" in your mouth. Also I blended chunky soups up till I could drink them. At least it kept me from getting hungry in an hour.

    Any February 2009 Bansters?

I can't believe you are back to work already:eek:! Day two I was still on Percocet liquid. That's great:thumbup:. I worry about doing too much to fast but maybe I should be stepping it up a notch. When did everyone start exercising besides walking around the house?
  14. when you say you can eat anything do you mean food types or the volume that was once there. I thought the band even unfilled caused some restriction so you did not eat as much. I mean, can you down burger fries and a coke without any problem? That would be scarry for me too!

    food is stuck

If it goes away then it probably isn't food. Seems more likely its a trapped air bubble and you need to walk it off. When were you banded? I was banded on 2/24/09. I still have a lot of midsection tightness and I can burp where most people I see here are having trouble with that. Maybe chew on some gasX tabs to help.

    Belching

No, no. I'm sorry my post regarding a band fill was for Itzgigi. Yes...I know you and are are February 24th bandsters. I think my more than usual belching is from either my small hernia left unrepaired or I am just a natural air swallower. Who knows. My doctor is not too concerned so I have to live with it.
  17. So glad our 2/24 folks are doing better. I did develop some gas pain in the left should yesterday. Seems weird since I am over a week post op. Luckily some GasX tabs and a heating pad took care of it. I am still tight around the mid section or feel pulling when I bend over. Guess this sounds all pretty normal though. Hang in there you guys.

    My experiance, so far

Great positive reinforcement story. I found a great site from someone here to "do the math" Lance Armstrong's LiveStrong.com has a section "My Daily Plate" Check it out and so easy to use.

    Belching

It sound like we have two extreme situations here. I have yet to get a fill but it sounds like you are too tight if you have pain as food goes down. You are certain you are chewing enough? I have read on here that when things like that happen you should switch to liquids for 24 hours to let things settle down after a fill. Are you absolutely sure you don't have or deveoloped a hernia? Good luck. I on the other hand will be using Excuse Me as my middle name for quite a while. I hope my belching settles down with my first fill.

    Belching

I am having damn near pathological belching. It really is ridiculous. I belch if I am full or not. I used to belch a lot anytway due to a small hernia. The doctor says he did not fix this when I got my band because it was so small. However, I think my banding just is aggravating the belching part. I am so sick of it. I burp loud and often. Sometimes so hard its like a hiccup burp. It was causing me some pain earlier in the week but now its just plain annoying:cursing:. I got some gas building up in my shoulder now too....nearly 7 days post op....whats up with that:scared2:?
  21. This seems to be my only real problem besides feeling like I have a vice wrapped around my midsection. Once I burp the pain subsides. I burp with any liquid I take. DOes that sound pretty normal? I have not had to take my prilosec. I have had NO heartburn. Maybe thats gone for good!

Why is my band so picky?

What is a slider food? If you mean it slides through easy wouldn't the rice and beans be a slider food? I am still on post op liquids so I have not heard of this before.
  23. Here is something I found online. But as always follow your own doctor's orders. Ellen Sweeney Cordes, RD, Registered Dietitian at the Abramson Cancer Center of the University of Pennsylvania, responds: A full liquid diet consists of foods and fluids that are liquid or liquefy at room temperature or body temperature. Foods allowed on this diet include milk, plain ice cream, strained cream soups, fruit and vegetable juices, hot cereals, plain puddings, pasteurized eggs, and all items on the clear liquid diet (i.e. clear juices, clear soda, broth, jell-o). The full liquid diet is used most often post-operatively as a progression between the clear liquid diet and solid food. It can also be provided to patients who are severely ill or who have difficulty swallowing and/or chewing solid foods. The diet consists of many milk or dairy products but can be modified to include lactose-free products for a lactose-intolerant person. A Full Liquid diet food list is below which may give you more ideas for foods to feed your father. Foods Allowed Milk : milk, milk shkes, eggnog, instant breakfast, yogurt meats and other Protein sources : cooked eggs, custards, egg substitutes, puddings, ice cream Breads, cereals, grains : refined cooked cereals such as farina and cream of wheat Vegetable and Fruits : Strained fruit juice or vegetable juice (no pulp), fruit nectars, pureed fruits (similar to baby food), mashed white potato diluted in cream soups Fats : Butter, cream, margarine Desserts : cornstarch puddings, custard, Gelatin, plain ice cream, sherbet, fruit ice, plain frozen yogurt, popsicles Miscellaneous : carbonated beverages, cocoa, coffee, instant breakfast, Ensure, Boost, bouillon, broth, strained vegetable soup, strained cream soups with pureed meats, sugar, honey, syrup, hard candy.
  24. Banded 6 days ago. I am very satisfied with protien drinks, instant carnation breakfast with beneprotein and creamed soups. Hungeries are not my problem. I am still burping like crazy. It happens with every sip I take. I hope going to softer foods will stop this. I, too, feel like I have not lost any weight since surgery despite taking in less than 800 calories a day. I think I need to bump this up because my body is in starvation mode.

    Band & Panic attacks anyone?

When I saw this thread, I thought...OMG others are feeling it too. Now I wonder if its really the same thing. I have NEVER had panic attacks up until 1 week before surgery I had what I felt was a panic attack that woke me up at 4am. I was alone and felt like I could not breathe although I was breathing just fine. I felt like if I fell asleep I would stop breathing. I was terrified. I got through it and had another one day one post op. I think some of it was medication and pain. I paced and fretted. I cryed but I did not know why. I could not sit, stand or walk it off until finally I took a sleeping pill and went to sleep. My emotions are all over the board. I cry at the drop of a hat. I have never had emotional instability before and its scaring me. I am miserable today with gas pain in both shoulders. I have not had it up till now 6 days post op. I am going to ask my doctor for some Ativan or Xanax to have on hand should another panic attack ever take me over. That was awful.
