  1. Well I think this could be a fun stage. How about meat loaf, beef stew, chicken&dupplins, chili, ground turkey with taco sasoning, mac&cheese. It's not going to look pretty but you can toss any of this in a blender, add a bit of water to get the consistancy you need and it's going to taste good.
  2. My new toy is a cusinart immersion (stick blender), I love it, it's heavy duty and an easy clean, it makes great protein drinks, purees and will get me through the mushy stage and takes up little to no room on my counter or drawers (2 pieces) I was looking at the magic bullet but I didn't want 17 pieces that is overkill for me. Good luck!!! Amazon cost was 39.95 but I have othet brands at a cheaper price.

Well here it goes.... I was banded on march 24th and even though it's been less then a week I feel like this is going to be an amazing adventure. I just decided that I was missing out on way to much life being obese and most importantly I want a long life with my husband. So stay tuned and I will give updates on my progress... Next update will be after my follow up appointment on April 9th.

  5. Hi, I was banded on March 24th and It is really hard for me to get in the protein shakes and the 2 oz of food between the shakes because I am not hungry, yet my stomach makes all kinds of noises throughout the day. I have heard others say this is normal..... actually I feel like I an hear and feel water sliding down like a funnel, strange:blush:
  6. kathy V have you dressed up your protein drinks to make them a bit tastier? I know they are all sweet options but you can add stuff like sugar free instant pudding mixes to play with the flavor and different crystal light powders as well. I was banded on the 24th and have a big selection in my phase 1 (days 2-14) that I can have but I am keeping it simple for this week, here is what I have been having. B- 2 oz cream of wheat, with a touch of brown sugar S-protein drink with vanilla protein powder, banana pudding powder, blended with ice L- 2 oz unsweetened applesauce S- another protein drink, this one with protein powder(vanilla) and the orange crystal light D- 2 oz cream of chicken soup I can have refried beans, cottage cheese and a softly scrambled egg, but I am going to wait until I am a week in to introduce those. Good luck and feel free to write anytime.
  7. I told everyone and their mother! I figured that if they are my true friends and care about me then they would rather see me finally make a step in the right direction then to continually see me in misery, and when your my size you can only fake it for so long. Also I can't do this alone, support is important. I have only been banded less then a week but everyone is on my side and people are coming out of the woodwork wanting information , so maybe in a sense I am helping others by being upfront with my decision.
  8. I too have a lot to lose but I'm in no hurry, my outlook is to just follow the post op food stages and become greatly aquainted with my new friend. Just relax, remember your in good hands and when you wake up it will all be done and then the rest is up to you. There's so much great information on this site so read, read, read.
  9. Hi, I just had my surgery on Tuesday and I only have a small bit of soreness left, I am not taking the pain meds anymore and already feel like a million bucks!!! Good Luck!
  10. great night, I was able to sleep on my non port side, and that is my normal sleep side!!!!!!!!
  11. Banded on Tuesday, I slept straight up in bed the first 2 nights, but for my nap today I layed on my back and it was fine. No gas pains at all just a sorness in the port location and a bit of sorness in the center of my chest. Good luck!
  12. I was banded 2 days ago. Surgery was at noon I was in recovery at 2 and home at 6. All I needed was my chapstick, I brought a very small bag just in case and left it in the car and all that was in it was my phone, lapband book and tetris! The clothes I wore in I wore out, minus the bra. Don't over think it.
  13. On my list of full liquids, days 2-14 it includes 2 oz at each meal of oatmeal, cream of wheat, cottage cheese, refried beans, jello, baby food meats and egg beaters. I was banded yesterday and I have only had 2 protein drinks fo far. I have no apetite and it's hard to get the recommended amounts in.
  14. Just banded yesterday and today I start full liquids which is Protein drinks and 2 oz of the following for Breakfast, lunch and dinner cottage cheese, yogurt oatmeal, cream of wheat, strained Soup, Beans Jello and very soft scrambled egg. The beans must be pureed. Now like I said this is only day 2 for me so I really don't plan on advancing myself that quickly. Today I will probably have a Protein Drink, tea, crystal light and maybe the cream of wheat later in the day. I am feeling way better today than yesterday just some pain in the port area and a bit of pain when I breath deeply.
  15. I am being banded on tuesday and I am on clear liquids on day one. Days 2-14 full liquids- strained soups, yogurt, cream of wheat, softly scrambles egg beaters, applesauce, refried beans. My dietition said to puree the beans and add some broth to make them runny, looks gross but very filling. Days 15-28 mushies.... At this point there are many options. I bought a stick blender and look forward to using it. Anyway I just listed some of what's on my list, hope it helps and good luck.
  16. I am being banded on Tuesday and my reasons for deciding to do this is because the world is just not fat friendly. I go to a resturant and I can't fit in a booth and need a chair with no sides, I fly and need 2 seats, I haven't been on a theme park ride since a kid and all the cute clothes are not in my size so I am forced to go to a special store where they think just because you need a bigger size you have lost all sense of fashion, for example giant strawberries or teddy bears on a shirt. I don't currently have health issues but I know that I can't stay 350 forever.
  17. first off congrats on the amazing weight loss. I am scheduled to be banded next tuesday at a starting weight around 350. I too felt more comfortable with lapband then bypass. My surgeon prefers lapband over bypass because he believes that once lapbanders reach goal he can breath a sigh of relief that they will most likely not gain the weight back but with bypass he is happy that a patient has reached goal but still carries a concern as to their future since they do not have restriction if they backslide.
  18. Restless monkey I agree with you completely. I always enjoy reading your posts and I plan on taking the same approach! The way I see it is that I did not get to this weight overnight and so it will not come off overnight. I want to drop the word diet from my vocabulary and just focus on portion control and exercise. I just don't believe that there has to be foods that are off limit (unless my band says so) I will be banded in 9 days!
  19. I am scheduled on the 24th as well. We should keep in touch and be lapband buds!!!!! Julie
  20. Hi Snereb27 hope you are doing well. I am scheduled for my surgery on March 24th by Mandelbaum, he is also in the same practice with Dr Clark. I met Mendaulbaum during orientation and that was the only time. I had all my pre op testing done and went to the nutrition class yesterday (were you there)? and my case management is next Wednesday. I would guess that it is standard procedure for their office that unless you schedule an appointment with the surgeon that you will not see him until the actual day. My experience of the office has been good thus far, I was told that my surgeon will do my fills for the first 90 days that Eve Olson will be doing them because she is educated on weight loss and gain and the surgeons are just that (surgeons) Her office is in the same building. Bio Teacher, glad to here that the office is getting better, maybe it just took them a while to get use to the new office (although that's no excuse) Take care and keep in touch
  21. Oh, I can't believe I won..... I never win anything. Hope the prize is not food though, getting ready to start pre-op diet. Julie
  22. I buy a brand from walmart called body fortress. I enjoy the vanilla flovor because it's the most versatile and I add to it. I can add O.J to it and it's like a dreamcicle I add 2 tsp of sugar free pudding mix (very good) Or sugar free hawaiian punch singles to go, berry red So with vanilla there's always a way to kick it up. By the way, body fortress is a powder not a liquid. Good luck to all Julie (surgery date 3-24)
  23. I am 365 pounds and I am having lapband March 24. I decided that I did not gain all this overnight so slow and steady is fine for me. I also do not want to deal with the dumping syndrome that comes with bypass. I have read many sucess stories from those who have lost what I need to lose So I hope to join them. Good luck with your decision.
  24. I have united Health Care and they issued me a nurse advocate to help me gather all the requirements needed. I am full of emotions right now. Julie
  25. Who says Friday the 13 is a bad day, I was approved today and get a surgery date on Monday!
