I would love to attend, but sadly it costs so much-at least for my budget. I wish I had known about this sooner and been able to plan for it

@@mrs.papa923 how are you doing? I had surgery 12/23/14 only spent a night in the hospital, but was back in 2 days later with severe c-diff. I am now on my 2nd round of antibiotics as well. I take Flagyl and Vancomycin which still have not rid me of symptoms. I was back in the hospital a few days ago due to dehydration because the Flagyl makes me so sick. I'm now also taking zofran. While I feel slightly better I'm still dealing with abdominal pain and diarrhea. I have follow up appts this week with specialist.
Hoping that you came out of it alright...I need see some hope to look towards.

@@laurenella82 You're blowing my phone up with these multiple posts if you're not sure we can see your post...we can. If you're not creating the multiple replies contact adminFirst, my brother expressed his concern for my weight and wanting me to be there for his daughter (this was before I had my son) who is now 4 and I am her only auntie.
Second, my son who is now three, needs me. I am his only parent and I would hate to leave him alone over something I could have prevented.
Third, I went on a day trip to Florida (from DC) to get my niece and I had to take 4 different planes. The first and I had no problems with the seatbelt. But the other three I needed extenders and it was extremely embarrassing to have to reach over the people next to me (I always fly the window seat) to ask for it then to get it.
I've been researching WLS for about 7 years and started the process 5 years ago but decided not to go through with it. I didn't know about VSG then. I'm so glad I waited and I can't wait to finally have my surgery!!! ( the fact that I'll probably like shopping for myself again is a HUGE plus too!!)

Way to go! That's impressive!Congrats on your surgery date. I know how excited and nervous you are. I had my surgery February 24th I have lost 114 lbs have another 20 to go to my goal. I would do it again in a heartbeat. My advice is to follow all the rules and don't push yourself to eat too early. Best of luck.
I'm actually not finding myself nervous at all. I'm very excited. In the past when I've looked at doing it I was nervous about all the what ifs but now I'm beyond that. Im more nervous that it's so far out that something might happen that'll prevent me from having it done. For me there is nothing to be nervous about. I'm done living like this. Will it be a complete lifestyle change, you bet...but if it means not "living" like this then I'm ready. The risks of surgery at this point are more than worth it...if there's major complications then so be it, at least I tried.
I'm ready and hopeful and most of all excited ????

Insurance approval today!!!!! Surgery date: December 23, 2014!!!!!! It just got real!!!!
-
I keep seeing your name everywhere! Pretty excited to find someone my age going through the same process at roughly the same time! ????
-
I call tomorrow for my official surgery date but I will be getting mine done on/around December 19...I'm just under 2 months away! After 10+years of aiming to get this surgery (and failing every diet to kingdom come during that time) it feels surreal! I can't believe this is finally happening!

Everything has been sent off for insurance approval!

Thanks for checking in on me! I got a little down as I had planned on this month originally (actually this week!) but i needed more time to financially plan for it and also be able to take more time off from work than 1 week. I'm now planning on around 12/19. I have one more procedure tomorrow and after that I will be scheduled and have an actual surgery date!Hey Spring Dixie, how is everything going I noticed your last post was over a month ago. I just got my surgery date of 12/9, after waiting about 8 years also so I totally know how you feel. I was a week away from having surgery last time and was told my medicaid was no longer active. That was a big blow! I lost my job this year and instead of getting down about it I figured it was time for me to have surgery this time! So are you having surgery this month? I'm 28, 4"11 and started at 218lbs this go around. I'm going to try to add you as a friend. Also I am making a secret Facebook group if you would like to be a part of it!
I would love to join your Facebook group, send me a message! ????

I actually just changed mine I decided that it would be better to have it done in December where I have 2.5 weeks off (love working for the school district) and I'll be less stretched financially as well to get all of the co-pays in. But I'll be going under general anesthesia for an endoscopy that day instead now (I don't sedate well so they're going to do full anesthesia)Mine is also October 13! I'm only planning on taking a week off. I'm an accountant though, so I don't do too much physically =)
Best of luck to you though!

Another step closer last night I had my dietician and psychology seminar tomorrow I have my pap and after that I just have to get my endoscopy and psych 1:1 and then I'll be ready for surgery!
I'm getting less and less nervous and more and more mentally prepared. I feel so much better after the seminars as well. They really answered a lot of questions, have me the tools I need for post-op and really made me feel like I'll have a great support system afterwards

I looked at the percentage of probable weight loss. I thought this was a great tool for that: https://www.realize.com/do-i-qualify/potential-results
Talking with my doctor he said I could start out by doing the sleeve and then revise to RNY if I wanted more results. I however only plan on having 1 surgery and making it work. I kind of think of it as choosing the best most efficient tool for myself and going in knowing you're going to give it all you've got to use it and get the best possible result you can
I'm also not a fan of completely removing something from my body. For me it is scarier to completely remove 80% of my stomach then reroute my intestines.
ETA: I just also wanted to state that I do not take any meds consistently so that had no baring on my choice. Also it depends on how much you have to loose. While most that I have read gives RNY a slightly higher percentage of loss, if you don't need to loose as much the amount of pounds difference between the two is going to be negligible, however, if your looking to loose 2-300+ pounds the difference in potential percentage loss will be greater (ie what was a 10lb difference for someone smaller is a 30+lb difference for someone larger).
