    Flipped Port

Did they mention how a port can get flipped?

    13lbs in 2 weeks!

Congratulations on the weight loss! I would say don't question WHY you're eating less, just go with it. I find it kind of odd with some other posts I've read that some seem to be more concerned with NEEDING a fill then enjoying the fact that they're eating less and losing weight. Just my observation. Keep up the good work!

Why do women have anal sex?

:Banane56:HAHAHA:bananadoggywow: Only tried it a few times when seriously drunk and always had regrets the next day.

    Things that you miss

:Banane34:BEER!!! Especially this Sunday! All you can eat, all you can drink superbowl party. Talk about HELL!!!:bored:
  6. I read on a previous post that "papaya enzyme" helps. They are chewable tablets that you can buy at GNC. As a matter of fact I just bought some today, not that I plan on getting stuck, but figure if I can be prepared with options...just in case.... Here's the link to GNC if anyone wants to check it out. Oh no! Bridal functions! Need advice ASAP

I'm a, well used to be, a big drinker myself. Big time Beer girl, my excuse this far has been that "no drinking" was my new year's resolution. I tell you, some poeple mourn the loss of food before banding; I was just trying to figure out what I could drink that wasn't carbonated, LOL, and I HATE hard liquor. However, my husband said that's when he realized I was serious about this when he found out I would forever have to give up beer. Sorry for rambling, I'm still in mourning:crying: Anyway, have you thought about wine? Easy to sip, not expected to guzzle. Or how about a bloody mary, not quite breakfast but another sippy drink, cranberry and vodka with extra ice and take you're time eating every ice cube after and be sure to drink a lot of water too. Easy way is buy the other girls lots of shots so they're so $hit faced they won't even notice you're not drinking!! :thumbup:HAHA

    Lap Band Cookbook Anyone?

I found the book "Eating Well After Weightloss Surgery" by Patt Levine (a bandster herself). I was in Borders wasting time and found it, it is the coolest thing ever!!! I came back excited to share with everybody only to search and find that I hadn't "discovered" it, LOL DARN!! It came out in 2004. What I think is so cool about it is that for every recipe it has serving guidelines for -Lap-Band (weeks 1-4(puree), 5-8, and 9+) it also has guidelines for bypass, and other WLS. I haven't tried any of the recipes yet, as I just bought it today, but they all look pretty easy. It has breakfast through desserts and all are high protein, low fat, and "good" carbs. Good intro too. Anyway, look forward to trying some stuff out.

    Fiber supplements?

Does anybody take fiber supplements? I used to take Trader Joe's psillium husk on occasion but figure if I try to do that now I would erupt like a volcano! Was thinking of the fiber chewables, do they not expand like traditional fiber supplements? Just curious. Thanks.

    Fiber supplements?

Thank you all for your suggestions! I was at Wal-Mart yesterday looking to buy some benifiber powder and ended up buying some liquid fiber "Ready Fiber" by health direct. Started taking it today so I have no idea how well it works. Plus, today was my first day on "real" food so I'm sure I'll find out soon!!

those who were banded in mexico

I went straight through with the Doctor's website (Dr. Alberto Aceves, Mexicali) He has girls in the office that could answer any question I had. Can't imagine what a coordinator might do, except be a middle man that takes a cut (IMHO).

    Tai Chi??

I would LOVE to take a Tai Chi class, problem is they are all so early in the morning!! LOL One, 1 am NOT a morning person to begin with but 2 I have to work anyway. I did buy a DVD and enjoyed it, but it was very difficult to do the moves fluidly while trying to look at the TV at the same time! It's great excercise for balance and stability, highly underestimated in my opinion. Good Luck! Keep it up!!

I hate it when people post just to post.....

Is this a random rant site to post? Ok, here's mine. The ticker things on the bottom of everybodys signature don't say whether it's lose from the surgery or added the pre-op. I'm all for being proud of ALL weight loss but it would be nice to know what the band has actually done for people. OK, I'm done. Thank you:biggrin:

    I'm concerned

Try not to gauge proper restriction on getting stuck or PBing. If those things happen it's because you're TOO restricted. The fact that you're feeling full quicker and for a longer period of time means you're moving in the right direction. Good luck, don't get discouraged.

    Surgery with a cold?

    CONGRATULATIONS!!!!
  19. I've been doing great so far. My surgery was on a Saturday and I could have gone back to work on Monday but being that it was New Year's week I just took the week off. Tomorrow will be 4 weeks post-surgery for me and I really feel good. I've been working out this week on my elliptical machine. The worst part I think is trying to keep my protein up, I'm just not hungry. The protein bullets are lifesavers, 42g of protein in 3 oz. Taste like melted jello and really sweet but it's over quick. My gas pain wasn't too bad, I would feel it rise into my chest and not have anywhere to go. The shoulder pain from the gas only hit me during the second week and tylenol helped me more with the pain the gas-x. I've been able to sleep on my side since about day 3. I guess I'm just overall truly happy with the experience so far. On Tuesday I will be able to try whole foods so I'm kind of scared about that, I've been married to my magic bullet for the past few weeks!:scared2: If I were to give advice I would have to say get moving, keep walking, even if it's sloooooow. You really will start to feel better faster. Good luck!! Keep me posted!!

    protein bullets

I think they kind of taste like melting jello and pretty sweet but they're so small its tolerable. I bought the 42g ones in a few different flavors online from Lindberg nutrition. Free shipping too!

    lap band and sports...

I was wondering the same thing. I play women's tackle football (yes, it exists and no I'm not a lesbian) but think I'm going to take this season off since I'm newly banded. My Doc said there shouldn't be a problem but the port site may hurt when it gets hit, like having a rock between you and what's hitting you. I'm hoping by next season at a much lighter weight I can go for Tight End instead of the Fat lineman (offensive tackle):tt2: hehe
  23. Have you thought of trying probiotics? They have capsules that you can open up and mix with water or juice or whatever. "Culturelle" is the brand I have, found in the laxitive/imodium section at the drug store. I did that my first week after surgery and haven't had any issues. I figured they couldn't hurt. The gas-x was doing NOTHING for me. Could be coincidence but it might be worth a try.
