Have you tried probiotics? They have capsules that you can open up and put in juice or water. You can find them in the same area as the stool softeners in the drugstore.

Hi there, I was just wondering how long you took to get back to training after the surgery. I've had the pleasure of training with the Gracie's in Torrance, CA (Rorion, Ryron, and Rener) but never was consistant because I was just too fat! Does it bother your port sight at all? Do you feel it? Thanks! AND Congratulations on your success so far!!

Craziest Things People Have Said Coming From Under General Anesthesia...
OneHotMama replied to kabeerah's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
When they woke me up on the table they all still had their face masks on so all I could see was their eyes. I was banded in Mexico and I had been talking to my husband about how all the Doctors and nurses looked like they belonged in a Novela (a mexican soap opera) all really good looking. Anyway, I kept going on and on about how perfect their eyebrows were! HAHAHA:tongue: -
anxiety about this weird thing in your body anyone?
OneHotMama replied to lizreeka's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I feel really good UNTIL I start reading about other peoples complications. Then the hipocondriac (sp?) Comes out in me, whatever I read I have. Which is bad vibe for healing (I'm only 2 1/2 weeks out). I try to stay away from those posts but I'll click on them in recent posts. Keep thinking positive!!!! -
Self-Fill are you doing this?
OneHotMama replied to TQUAD64's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
WOW! Now that's just sad!!! HAHAHAHAHAHA -
I was banded by Dr.Aceves in Mexicali on 12/27/08. I was extremely happy with my experience. Arrived the day before for pre-op, spent one night in a hotel, had surgery, then one night in the hospital. If you fly (I drove) they'll transport you to and from the airport and you stay 2 nights in the hospital. Total cost was $7,000. Must admit, initially there was no way I would go have surgery in Mexico but I had the luxury of driving down to check out the hospital and meet the Doctor ahead of time. Being a self-pay it just made more sense then the original plan of $17k in Los Angeles for 2 hours in a surgery center! Good Luck in your research!

A VERY strange (possibly offensive) question. ***read at your own risk...***

OMG!! This is so funny! I actually wondered the same thing. Afraid to try it. Thank you for having the "balls" to even post the thread!!! Hehe -

Just curious, what's the max fill on your band?

I have to share my surgery experience, it was more then I would have ever expected!! I was banded on Saturday the 27th by Dr. Alberto Aceves in Mexicali. The original thought of having surgery in Mexico scared the he11 out of me!! But the more I read about possible complications with the band AND me being a self pay, I decided a little more research may be needed. When I started to research Dr. Aceves, the worst thing I found was someone complaining about the smell of the cleaning solution! WHAT are you kidding me!!! The facility turned out to be extremley modern and very clean. I had the luxury of driving down to check out the facilities before deciding. I actually had a date set with a Doctor here in CA at more then twice the price and was only going to be in the facility a few hours after surgery. With Dr. Aceves the cost included transportation from and to the airport (if needed, I drove) pre-op testing, a hotel the night before surgery (not a dive either), surgery and two additional nights in the hospital. That first night after surgery I was so thankful to be there. To not have the anxiety of being kicked back home so soon. Since I drove myself I was given the option of going home after one night and I did. All of this wasn't even the best part. The customer service was AMAZING!!! My husband equated it to being on a cruise that happened to have a surgery room, hehe. All of the staff was amazing!! The morning of surgery I was freaking out because I'd never been under before. The anesthesioligist, surgical nurses, surgery assistants, internist, everybody came in to introduce themselves and were sooo friendly! It relieved most of my anxiety, even before the happy pill!! haha I was in and out before I knew it and back to my private room where my husband was waiting for me. Everytime someone came to talk to me it just left me and my husband amazed at how friendly and personal they all were. You never really associate customer service with medical procedures, I felt like I was a real person to them, not just another body to be thrown on the table. If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask. I just had to share!!!

Can I cheat from clear liquid to full post-op?
OneHotMama replied to SamieTeacher's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
ISOPURE protein drinks are considered a "clear" protein and OK during the clear phase. You can get it at GNC, just be sure to mix it with water only. Unjury is also OK during the clear phase but I think you can only get it online. Both of these were the 2 specific brands (all flavors by the way) aloud during my "clear" phase. Hope it helps. -
Why WLS? Your personal top 10 list
OneHotMama replied to mlafentres's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
1. Wear pretty underwear again. 2. Do cartwheels with my daughter. 3. Ride ALL the coasters at the amusement parks. 4. Not to have to dress like an old lady for work. 5. Comfortably wear high heels again. 6. Enjoy putting on make-up again. 7. Avoid any weight related health issues, I've been very lucky up until this point but do have family history. 8. Exercise without feeling like everybody is staring at me. 9. Be energized and not be so damn tired all the time! 10. BE A M.I.L.F., hehe -
Actually, I was told not to have any alcohol at dinner but I CHOSE to anyway. I know bad me, but I didn't think my f*cking story was going to be dissected by obnoxious downers with no life!!!! Who the he11 are you to question me and my actions? Like I said this was my experience and would I recommend Dr. Aceves to others? Absolutely!!! So my suggestion would be for you to get over yourselves and allow this to be a support board again.

zi"TROL"eira, I don't know what the he11 crawled up your a$$ and made you so bitter!! I was passing on MY experience to others. Who are you to question MY experiences? Sounds like you have a personal pissing contest with Wasa. Who, by the way, never contacted me. I did my own research thank you very much. For you to claim that the patients don't make mistakes and don't make stupid choices. My God! Just read some of these posts!!! "My band let me eat 2 pieces of pizza", "I'm 2 days post-op and was able to drink soda and have a full meal". After reading this board I don't put the hamburger story past anybody!! Anyway, just had to respond because your little ranting on MY happy thread pissed me off!!

What the heck is goin on?
OneHotMama replied to rachel1969's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sorry to hear of your issue. I don't really have any advice for you, just didn't want you to feel neglected:wink2: Some people say gas-x helps with the gas pain, I don't think it did much for me. I have to change position and then I can actually feel the gas bubbles moving, WEIRD!!! If you start to hold stuff down you might want to try some liquid Tylenol if your Doc didn't send you home with pain meds. -
First Fill - OUCH! - Getting Stuck
OneHotMama replied to aferrenberg's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
If you're already getting stuck and having chest pain, I'm just curious why you think another fill will be helpful? :wink2: Be careful, remember over eating is the main cause of slippage and may stretch your esophogus. -
My family is pretty competitive too "who has the high score now?!" As for the running, my kids figured out all you have to do is shake the remote fast to keep you moving in the race, so they cheat on that one. What's really cool about it is my 7 year old can actually be competitive with my 9 and 11 year olds. Not like the normal stupid video games. I can hardly wait until my Mii isn't so ROUND, LOL

Had surgery today-Now I need some favors please.
OneHotMama replied to poodles.me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was just banded Saturday so I'm on clears for 5 days. My instructions were to aim for 64 oz of Fluid a day (seems to be hard for me) broth, tea (no caffeine), Water, jell-o, optional-diluted juice (apple, grape, or cranberry). Clear Protein drinks are OK and it specifically says Isopure and unjury, and protein water. My husband went to Rite aid and found some "designer whey" protein waters, 20g of protein in the 20 oz bottle. More then the Special K with 5g per serving. It also says if you have headaches, feel light-headed or shaky to drink some Propel. Days 6-10 I can add Natural Vegetable juices and Protein Drinks mixed with water. Of course like everyone says listen to the rules of your surgeon but I thought I'd share. Glad to hear you're doing well. I WISH I was burping more, it just feels like I have a lot of gas waiting to get out!!!:wink2: -
Also, you have to pay for your last hoorah meal the night before surgery. My husband and I ate at the hotel restaurant and it was excellent! Came to about $50 with tip for 2 full meals with 4 beers. (Boy am I gonna miss those, :crying:haha) As an added FYI, the Doc in CA was going to charge me $17,000 and only included one year of fills. After that they were $180, no mention of fills under x-ray either.
-
No question is silly! Actually, I have Kaiser and frankly just assume that they will not cover my fills. From what I've read on here most people who are banded in MX find a local Dr. that will take on those patients. I will be going down to Dr. Aceves for any fills. I live about 3 1/2 hours from him and the only cost is $75, the cost of the fluoroscope. They do all their fills under x-ray, seems safer to me. (IMO) Everybody spoke English, some more broken then others but definitely able to communicate. My insurance wouldn't even consider me as I had a BMI of 38 with no co-morbitities and I wasn't about to intentionally gain more wait to jump through more hoops. As for cost, it was $7000 and included everything I mentioned in the first post. You are responsible for airfare if needed but my husband and I just drove. Hope this helps! Anything else? Let me know!!! Good luck with your insurance.

Congratulations! It's beautiful!! Be careful, statistically yellow is the most ticketed color car!!! They're gonna be watchin ya! As for me, I was banded on the 27th so that was one heck of a Christmas gift!!!
-
Thanks for the message! Actually, my surgery was changed to the 27th. I can't believe how excited and scared I am at the same time! Thanks much for your support.

I'll be heading down to Mexico tomorrow to be banded on Saturday. I am SOOOOO nervous now,:tongue2: scared I guess. Just regular feelings for any surgery I assume. Not to concerned about not being able to eat, I think my head is ready for that. I don't post much but feel supported by reading everybody else's support! LOL, make sense? Basically, thanks for all the support you didn't even know you were giving!! Looking forward to all of us having a whole different outlook next year, what a great way to get it started!!!!
