  1. Hello All!

    I'll be 42 next Friday and will be married 17 years as of the beginning of July. I have two wonderful kids ... a girl 15 (going on 25) and a boy 13 who still loves to give his mom hugs. I was raised in Toronto (Scarborough area and my parents still live in the same house) but moved out to Calgary by myself in 1985 where I met my husband a year later. We go back to Toronto every summer to experience the cottage country life that does not exist in Calgary (along with the hot, humid weather which I love!!).

    So far, I have adjusted to the band with no problems. Even though I'm now three weeks post op, I definitely have restriction and have experienced the 'golf ball' feeling twice when I've eaten too much. Not a good feeling as you don't know if it's coming up or going down .. so far down only for me ... phew!

  2. Thinking of all those who are still to be banded in the month of May. Take it easy for the first few days and then you will start loving life and the band.

    All the best to those are are getting done tomorrow ....

  3. Mandi -

    How did your first fill go? Was Dr. Cobourn training Dr. Mitchell?

    I should have questioned Rose when you told me your appointment was at Peter Lougheed and I said my meeting was at Foothills Hospital. Rose informed most of his patients but I was left out. After waiting over 1 hour at Foothills and making calls to Rose, Dr. C. finally called me to apologize about the mixup. Oh well, I ended up meeting him the day before my surgery in Toronto.

    Congrats on the 26+ lb weight loss so far!

    What a great guy he is!

  4. Cloe - Have been thinking about you all day. I thought of you at 8:00am this morning when the surgery should shortly be underway. Hope you are as happy with Dr. Cobourn and his staff as I was. Look forward to hearing from you.

    Oops ... just realized it is only Thursday. Well, I'll be thinking about you tomorrow!!

  5. Mvpo8961 - Thanks for putting the list together. It is nice to see who is getting done when and keeping them in our thoughts and prayers.

    CLOE - I am to meet Dr. C. right after he finishes surgery at the Foothills on Wednesday. When do you fly in? I have been on Optifast for 6 days. The stuff isn't really bad...Marie said a could add some strawberries to the vanilla (not many though). It sure makes a difference. I didn't get the chocolate flavoured one as I don't like chocolate other than a milk chocolate bar.

  6. More...

    1. I can't wait until I don't have to wear a jacket or sweater everytime to cover my butt and stomach ... even in the hot summer days!

    2. I can't wait to go on a holiday and not be embarrassed to wear a bathing suit.

    3. I can't wait until I can say "thanks, but no thanks, I'm full" and mean it.

  7. Argon;

    Your information is very helpful. I have put a call into Marie to see if I can also see Dr. Cobourn on May 10th...she did mention to me that he was coming but at that time she wasn't too sure of the dates. I'm on course in the afternoon so hopefully he has time in the morning. Are you flying in from Vancouver? Do you know if he comes often out West?

    Was it Dr. Cobourn who gave you the prescription of codiene?

    Thanks again. Any info is appreciated.

  8. Argon;

    How are you finding things now that you are almost 4 weeks post op? Did you stay at a hotel overnight by the clinic? I take it the first 24 hours you do nothing but after that, you can go for walks, etc.

    Can you tell me what it was like to sit up. I have to fly back to Calgary 3 days later ... should I have anything special with me on the plane to make the journey more comfortable.

  9. I'm in the May group too:clap2:

    I'm scheduled for May 17th in Mississauga, Ontario with Dr. Cobourn at 8:00am. My liquid diet will start two weeks prior and I'm already for it. My husband is excited for me too. He's the type of guy that eats and eats and doesn't gain a pound...how does he do it:confused: But he is encouraging me all the way:)

    Looking foward to hearing about everyone and their experiences.

    (PS - my ticker worked!!!):nervous

  10. Hi Cloe!

    I'm looking foward to my surgery on May 17th with Dr. Cobourn! He seems like such a nice guy from what I have read. I have only talked to him on the phone as I live in Calgary. Things I can get excited about ...

    1. I can't wait to be able to fit comfortably in an airplane seat.

    2. Being willing to see people and not be ashamed of how I look.

    3. I can't wait to be happy with ME!

    4. I can't wait to play volleyball and baseball again!

    More later!
