good morning ya'll!!! don't feel bad reeneea. i lost 2 lbs this week for a total of 11 lbs. i say that's pretty good in 2 weeks when the average is 1-2 lbs/wk. and you, you've lost 12 lbs!!:clap2: :clap2: you are doing good!! we are all doing good!! i know the pounds will start dropping when i start getting fills, so i'm not too worried right now. the gas crept up on me again, but i think it's due to my "aunt flo" visiting me. all in all, i feel like my old self. i hope everyone is feeling ok this rainy morning. be safe out there. cutiern:D

poodles, believe me, i know how you feel. it will get better especially when you can move on to soft foods. i was just like you earlier this week. i felt i was eating too much. in fact, i feel like i could still eat everything and anything in sight. my doctor has me on "soft foods" now like cooked fish, veggies and soft fruit incorporrated with the liquid phase. i just had to tell myself "you don't want to over do it and you still want to give yourself time to heal". so, i've been having a isopure shake or 1/2 c egg beaters for breakfast (if i'm hungry), 1/2 c of stewed squash or 1 small avacado with salsa for lunch and 4-6 oz of cooked fish for dinner. so, you are not a cow. you are normal just like me. cutiern:D

you're lucky to have had no gas pains poodles. gas-x does not work for me, but walking does. i had a protein shake this morning (2 scoops low-carb isopure dutch chocolate-6 oz skim milk-1 TBSP of peanut butter-1/2 c of ice) that had a total of 60 gm of protein. it tastes like a Reese's peanut butter cup.i feel alot better. i have more energy. cutiern:biggrin1:
  15. hey suchadiva! i would call dr spivak first thing monday morning. are you getting in alot of Protein? i was banded last monday and i just didn't feel like drinking or eating and i was so tired as a result of it. the first three days i was on chxn broth, Water, sf Jello. by the fourth day i started having cream Soups, sf pudding, mashed potatoes. 4-6 oz at a time mind you. i was able to drink more water too. don't let yourself get dehydrated. you should've started on soft foods saturday if you are going by dr spivaks instructions. sounds like you need more substance. cutiern:D

good morning fellow june bandsters!! just wanted to check in and see how everyone is doing. i have to say i feel so much better this morning. i can actually get out of bed without rolling out of it. i can lay on both of my sides without dying in pain. the incision where my port is the only one that really aches. my abdomen feels like i've just done a 1000 crunches! coughing doesn't hurt as bad, but i haven't sneezed yet (not looking forward to it!). my gas concentrates early in the morning...right between my shoulder blades, but it doesn't last long. how is everyone doing with their food intake or lack of:p ? i hope everyone is doing good!!! cutiern:biggrin1:

hi zexxah!, i had the same dr as barbara. i rec'd my surgery date on May 8th and this is when i was told to start a low-carb diet. i tried my best to stay on it, but it wasn't happening. my surgery was uneventful. i did gave gas pains which radiated to my left shoulder the day of, but since then i just feel it in my stomach...more so in the morning...but, it's bearable. i just work on thur-fri-sat, so i just took off this weekend. i'll be going back to work next thursday. my stomach muscles are sore, but i should be ok. cutiern:biggrin1:

sissi, i have the same doc as reeneea and we were told the first 24-48 hours is liquids. then for 4 weeks it's soft foods incorporated in with full liquids: POST-OP DIET INSTRUCTIONS The post-op diet is divided into 3 stages to allow a gradual adjustment. STAGE 1: Liquid diet for 24-48 hours STAGE 2: Soft diet for 4 weeks STAGE 3: Regular diet of 3 meals per day STAGE 1 (FIRST FEW DAYS POST-OP) Liquids from the list below. Remember small amounts (4-6 ounces) at a time. GO SLOW WHEN YOU FEEL FULL STOP NO CARBONATED DRINKS LIQUID DIET Coffee, tea, diluted fruit juice Broth Blenderized soup Skim milk or Lactaid milk Jell-O, Popsicle’s Yogurt Sugar Fee pudding Cottage Cheese Applesauce, oatmeal, grits, cream of wheat V-8 low sodium Protein drinks, carnation instant breakfast, pure pro powder (no slim fast) STAGE 2 (SOFT DIET FOR 4 WEEKS) Soft foods from the list below can now be added. You may drink fluid anytime before you eat. However, no liquids with or after meals (wait 30 mins for the pouch to empty before drinking). CHEW WELL! The food must be almost liquified before swallowing. SOFT DIET Soft fruit (banana, melon) Cooked vegetables and fish Eggs Anything with the consistency of baby food STAGE 3 (after the 4 weeks, REGULAR DIET OF 3 MEALS PER DAY) Gradually add regular foods and remember: Eat only at set meal times NO LIQUIDS with meals or for 30 mins afterwards Avoid cheap calories Fats High caloric liquid Sweets, ice cream, junk food, cookies, chips. Liquids, junk food and sweets do not relieve hunger. Only solid food, which fills the pouch and empties slowly will relieve hunger. i had my surgery on monday and i have to say i'm feeling alittle better. i'm burping alot too. i just finished eating 6 oz of mashed(more like smashed) potatoes thinned quite a bit with chxn broth. cutiern:biggrin1:

yeah it still hurts when i take in a deep breath. but the pain is not as intense. i'm expelling the gas which has helped me out alot (i know tmi:p )! i think my port is in the upper middle of my stomach. i have a huge bruise around this incision and not around the other ones. i need to change these steri-strips. i'm going to go by the hospital and pick some up. i am feeling better. all i've had today was 3 oz Isopure milkshake, 6 oz of creamy Soup and a sf/ff popsicle. i'm still burping! i think i might try some egg beaters in the morning. cutiern:biggrin1:

cindy and reeneea, i feel the same way when i drink something. i fixed a 6 oz isopure milkshake and i could only get down 3 oz. i got the heaviness in my chest and upper back and i start to burp. i think we are still pretty swollen. i'm going to try some creamy soup later on. i'm trying to get my water down, but i just don't feel like it. and, i used to be such a big water drinker...that's all i ever drink is water. cutiern:D
