thanks for keeping up a list. I'm (paxie) on the 14th. Thank you! It's nice to see who is where in the process.
  4. appt after the surgery? Is that a check up and then the next one is a fill - or is it a fill? Is it different with each doctor?
  5. Thanks Luna! Good to know!

    Gas pain- help!

i am so sorry she had to go through all that but am totally releived to hear she finally got relief!! WHEW!!
  8. Ok, strange but that was on one of my list of things to eat for week 2!!! insurance sent me to one nutritionist and the docs sent me to another - and both lists are different from each other. A bit irritating to me, but I agree - go with what your doctor says.

    straight to pureed foods?

I went to two different nutritionist who both said two different things. One said liquids for 1-2 weeks the other said puree can be started on day 4-7 I think. I'm sticking to liquids (both clear and full - meaning the soups) for a bit just to be safe. I guess everyone's stomache reactions are different, so I would say go with what you feel is comfortable.

    Banded on Tuesday :)

I tell myself that in a month's time i can try regular food and all will be well. It's not like we can never had regular food...this is my montra...lol I also remember that our tummys have to be feed like a baby...first liquids...then purree...then soft...then regular... it seems to help me out mentally thinking of it that way.

    Banded on Tuesday :)

Best wishes on all our recoveries and welcome to the world of lb! I also got banded on Tuesday the 14th. I was sent to two different nutritionists. One for the doctor and one for insurance. The guidelines on what to eat when are different. One says clear to full liquids for a week to two weeks - another says for the first 3-4 days then we can start puree foods. Personally, I dont think I'm quite ready for puree foods so I am holding off and staying on clear liquids and blended cream soups for now. I just started the Soup last night and one today. So far so good, but I'm not anxious to rush anything. my Water is tasting different to me though - but it could be the tap source and not me. lol... I need to get bottle water and give that a try. Again, congrats and best wishes!!
  13. sounds like you are doing good!! Best wishes on a smooth and speedy recovery!
  14. lol, too funny gonefishing. I called - waiting to hear back. I love this doctor but the staff isnt great about returning messages.
  15. I had my surgery Tuesday and I wore the hospital CPAP. It went well but now I'm at hope and I'm afraid of air being pumped into my stomache from it. I know it goes into your lungs but... I use to end up with too much gas/air pressure from it before I got the machine changed out. Is this a normal fear? How has everyone else faired out with their CPAP or BIPAP since their surgery?

    Surgery Day

There wasnt much time to get nervous - I had to show up at 530 am. WOW, I'm never up that early. I didn't get much sleep that night before, I knew that I would get it there at the hospital and to be honest I was just way too excited. The staff at Seton were incredible!! I don't think they could of done a better job or have been nicer. Surgery went off with out a hitch. I answered all their questions before and explained I was anxious about having a tube down my throat. Hubby had woke up with one - so I knew that can happen. They gave me some anti-anxity meds before and I was knocked out!! Next thing I knew I was waking up in the recovery room. There was a male nurse watching me. He was great too - I felt like they were incredibly attentive. After a while I got moved to my room and had to wait to get tested to see if the fluids could move down smoothly. Becuase of the pain (I think it was mainly the gas pain but I didnt realize it at the time) I was on pain meds and anti-nausea meds. I felt like I was asking for it often!! Really I was given small doseages until the liquid testing. After that I was allowed bigger doseages and drink water/crystal light and broth. The warth of the broth really was nice. Who knew! Once it dawned on me that it was gas pains - I got up and walked around. I was suprised at the ease of it. I walked slowly, but I was suprised I could at all. The nurses were so encouraging and supportive. They applauded me. Wow. Who could of asked for anything better. Other than walking or if someone was in the room - I was out like a light. I'm glad. I really needed the rest and it helped not feel alone or bored. Due to sleep apnea I had to spend the night. I didn't want to be honest but I am so glad I did. With the pain meds, the attention to detail from the staff and how much sleep I needed - it was a good call to stay. The next morning I saw my doctor who said everything went well. My liver had a slight ting of yellow but it could be due to fatty dietary changes. Hopefully they will know more at the end of the week from the biopsy. Other than that she was discharging me and told me to keep up with the walking. The staff had told her how well I was doing with it and she said she was proud of me. Homeward bound.......

    Banded Tuesday the 14th

You're going back to work tomorrow? bless your heart! I hope it all goes super smoothly. Let me know how it goes!!! I thought that I'd be bouncing back more by now - like you able to go back to work (Im actually a sham, so I thought I could run errands)..but I don't feel that comfortable just yet. I've been walking three times a day still and enjoying that. But not quite ready to get back into the swing of things. Oh the laundry and house work is piling up..lol.. I feel guilty a bit but I dont want to push it too much. I think I might be drinking not slow enough just yet...but I'm working on it. Did you get the information to log on to your own realize band info? I got a little card but not the key code. I finally got a hold of someone at the doctors who had to look it up via the hosptial's network and I do have the realize band as well. I'm anxious to get logged in, but it seems like it will have to wait to my first appt. Do you have your follow up appt scheduled? Wishing you a great day at work!!! Keep me posted.
