Mommyto4 got a reaction from Cazzy in 1000 Calories, Gym 5 Days A Week..no Weight Loss!
I am so thankful to each and every one of you who has taken time to give me advice. I will be adding strength training and increasing my calories a little bit. No I have not measured anything except my waist (which I hate) LOL, but I will. I just need to get this scale moving, before I lose my mind! I understand that muscle weighs more than fat...but I'm a fat girl who JUST WANTS TO SEE THAT SCALE GO DOWN! Yes I have a band, however this battle is not won with that. Its a mind change, there's no band for that! My band does not help me to feel fuller, when it was tighter I had reflux and got stuck often, even was on asthma meds for the wheezing when the whole time it was my overtightened band. Now I can eat anything I want, but its all in my decisions that will help me lose this weight. Kinda sad I had a surgery for nothing

Wow Kyla 1226, thanks so much for the encouragement! I too had lost 50 and regained it! We really do sound alike! I am definately on board now, and I need to do this! I did get in touch with my dietician yesterday and she is emailing me a specific diet, calories will have to be increased, and hopefully it will be exactly what I need to see some movement again. Its been a month of 1000 calories and 5 days a week excercising...only 5 pounds down!! That is super discouraging. I would love to see my scale fly down too! I guess late bloomers do exist! Thanks again

Wow, sounds like me exactly!!! I was banded in 2008 also. I lost about 50 lbs the first year then had to have my port replaced in 2009 due to a leak. I really did not get back to good restriction after that, lost my motivation and gained back every pound I had lost and ended up back at my preop weight over the course of 2 years. Then it's like a lightbulb went off and it all clicked last fall. I'm back on track and have lost 50 lbs since October. That said...I hit a plateau in January and the scale did not budge. I was doing cardio 4-5 times a week and eating around 1000 calories. Did a lot of research, and decided to up my calories to 1200-1300 and added in weight training. Almost instantly the scale started to fly down. Just that little change shocked my body, I guess. One thing I notice is that when the scale is stuck, the inches are coming off and vice versa. Stay on track, try some changes in your routine and you'll find what clicks. We went through this major surgery and we need to make it work for us! Like you said, we're just late bloomers!

I'm on a roll. After getting the Fit Bit that became a hot topic here this past week, I decided to treat myself to a good pr of sneakers. Someone here mentioned due to the fact of being overweight, alot of us are over pronated when walking. I am one of those people. Not sure if and how much will change as I lose the weight, however, I went to a running store yesterday that evaluates your feet, jogging, etc. They fit me with my personal insoles to assist in alleviating my problem, as well as getting the right fit of sneaker for the exercises I'm doing. and also suggested what sneaker would be best for me. After all, when your feet ache, the rest of your body does too. I ended up leaving with two prs of sneakers. Afterall, I've saved so much money in a month's time doing "drive bys' at fast food {not drive in windows} places and not buying junk food for home I could justify the second pair, and, they were on sale. Like I said, I can justify.....

You're so right, it's all in the mind. Your body doesn't NEED chocolate, sugary Snacks, soda, beer etc. It's your mind that driving you to it and controlling the way you think negatively about your weight loss what is such a great achievement so far.
Conquer the mind and the world is yours.

If you are not eating enough, your metabolism will go down! Get 1200 in a day, even more if you are exercising right! When I restrict my diet too much, I plateau, no matter how much exercise I do. When I eat enough to keep me fueled all day, then I lose. It's almost like your body knows it is going to eat every few hours so it doesn't hold on the the stored fat like it will never get fed again. Just make sure the calories are good ones like high Protein, no sliders. Good luck to us all!!
