  1. Wow Kyla 1226, thanks so much for the encouragement! I too had lost 50 and regained it! We really do sound alike! I am definately on board now, and I need to do this! I did get in touch with my dietician yesterday and she is emailing me a specific diet, calories will have to be increased, and hopefully it will be exactly what I need to see some movement again. Its been a month of 1000 calories and 5 days a week excercising...only 5 pounds down!! That is super discouraging. I would love to see my scale fly down too! I guess late bloomers do exist! Thanks again rolleyes.gif

  2. Get it all out girl!!! You have to sometimes...Now use it to make you mad and be "a girl on a mission"! I am very happily married for 12 years and my husband adores me, just like I am, however I DON'T! I got a lapband for me, and to help myself out of this weight battle. No one but my Mom and my very best friend knows, not even my children! It is a private battle for me, and its not everyone's business why you decided to do this! I live in Louisiana, and for the record, I'd love to attend a Mardi Gras Parade where Lap Bands are thrown like beads :) Keep your head up and use all of these emotions to your benefit, to make you be focused...and then when you are exactly where you feel "skinny"...Buy some new clothes and flaunt it sista! Haha, good luck to us all! Keep your head up.

  3. I am so thankful to each and every one of you who has taken time to give me advice. I will be adding strength training and increasing my calories a little bit. No I have not measured anything except my waist (which I hate) LOL, but I will. I just need to get this scale moving, before I lose my mind! I understand that muscle weighs more than fat...but I'm a fat girl who JUST WANTS TO SEE THAT SCALE GO DOWN! Yes I have a band, however this battle is not won with that. Its a mind change, there's no band for that! My band does not help me to feel fuller, when it was tighter I had reflux and got stuck often, even was on asthma meds for the wheezing when the whole time it was my overtightened band. Now I can eat anything I want, but its all in my decisions that will help me lose this weight. Kinda sad I had a surgery for nothing :(

  4. I sure could use some advice from you old pro's. I was banded in 2008, never did well on the diet or lost much weight. Since January of this year (late bloomer I guess) have decided to finally kick myself into gear. I went to the doctor and now have 4 cc in my band after removing 2 cc due to overfilled complications. I have been logging all of my food on MFP, eating 1000 calories a day (per my doc's order) and have been at the gym for an hour 5-6 days a week. (Mostly eliptical and couch to 5K on the treadmill) ABSOLUTELY NO WEIGHT LOSS. I have yo-yo'd 4-5 pounds up and down but I cannot explain why it keeps coming back! I am not changing a thing to make it go and come back..I would appreciate any advice you can give. I am despirate to meet my goal of losing 80 pounds this year. Thanks

  5. I appreciate both opinions and I am gonna try to keep the mindset that I have right now. I am finally excercising and enjoying it (Turbo Jam DVD's) and I am going to take it one meal at a time and my plan is to shoot for 900-1000 calories a day concentrating on more protien than anything else. For me its truely a mind game! Good luck to everyone..including myself...I'll keep you posted!:smile2:

  6. Wow Heidi you sound exactly like me! I was banded in Dec 08 and only lost 40ish pounds then got off the bandwagon. Now since January of this year I am "back on" and I am trying to figure out how to make this weight come off! Ive been excercising for the first time in my life and counting calories every day since January 2nd and I have only lost like 9 pounds. Frustrated I went to my surgeon today for a fill and she declined because she said I was "loosing some weight" so my band was fine. Now she is pushing no carb and lots of Protein diet or Meal Replacement shakes...what are you doing to keep it going??? I am more serious today than I was when I put my band in and I need some friendly advice from somone in my shoes. Any advice will be appreicated.

    Thanks,

    Danielle

  7. Well, I have only lost a couple of pounds this month so far but I guess we will have these kinds of days. I was hoping for much more, but at least no gain. Please post my sad little results on the spreadsheet. However, I did buy some new jeans and they were 2 sizes smaller, and for the first time in years I bought a shirt that was an XL in the regular women's clothes!!!! Yaaaay, that was such a great feeling, so I guess 28#'s is pretty sweet for now! Thanks for all the encouragement from the december bandsters its great to have people in the same boat!!

    Danielle

  8. I'm not sure how I got left in the dust, but the spreadsheet is not updated for me, as of last sunday i was 235. I'm really proud of those 26#'s gone! Now for February I want to try for 10. So add me in and forgive me for not checking in weekly, don't forget I am a Mom of 4 little ones and computer time is not always an option! Thanks, you guys really do inspire me, and keep me motivated, I do promise to update my ticker at least weekly! Congrats everyone we are doing soooo good, keep it up!

    Danielle

  9. Good for you! I was banded on December 4th and I am still

on full liquids for another week:thumbdown:. It does feel like the best decision of my life too, but I still want the weight to "fall off"! I have'nt worked out any yet, b/c my port site is too sore for now, but I will soon. Congrats on the weight loss, and welcome to the site! May we loose many pounds together!

    Danielle

  10. Well I did it!! I am offficially a bandster! I had surgery on the 4th and I am just a little sore around the port, but doing well! I just want to encourage anyone who is scared, and anxious as I was, it was not terrible. I also had my gallbladder removed at the same time, so I got a double whammy! (still I am doing well) I am on the full liquid diet for 14 days and then on to mushies, so far this morning I tried to eat one packet of grits and was full half-way through...awesome this band does work!!!! Okay lets see how it goes for now, good luck to us all!

  11. Hey everyone, my name is Danielle, I'm a 30 year old LPN who is a happily married, mother to 4 beautiful children. My weight before the pre-op fun was 261, now one week before surgery I am 254, my goal is 160. I will be banded on December 4th also, in Lafayette, LA with Dr. Stevens. I am scared, excited, freaking out, and most of all anxious to see the new me in time!

    Good luck to us all!!

  12. Well one week from today and I will be banded! My date is December 4th and I am on full liquids, (what a thanksgiving day that was), and I could use some comforting words! This is hard to do, the best part is that in one week I have already lost 7 lbs, and that means only 94 left to go!!!! Nice to meet you.

I look forward to shrinkin with ya'll!

    Danielle:thumbup:

  13. Well, I am in full swing with the full liquids, and I must say, its not as bad as I imagined. I have lost 3 pounds and that makes me really excited. I also had an EGD today and that was fast, and painless for those of you who are dreading it! Now I am a little jealous of MR MIKE cause I'm 3 days on the diet and I havent lost as much as him!!LOL Okay December bandsters, it's on now.....

  14. Okay all, it's official, I will be banded on December 3rd!! Oh my gosh, there are sooooo many emotions that overwhelm me, most of all I just want it done! So much for a great Thanksgiving dinner, how does full liquid diet sound! Lol, well, I get to start that lovely jouney of liquids tomorrow!!! Okay now this is it, its time to start undoing the damage that I have done to myself! But I can't wait to see a "new me"!

  15. Hi Kathy,

I too am going to be banded in December, not sure which day, but I'll know by next week for sure. I too am a Mom of 4, but I only have one boy! I'm excited to be able to interact with others that are in the same boat as myself. My husband is now becoming very supportive also, because he knows how much this means to me. Good luck to us both!

    Danielle

  16. Kelly,

Thanks for the encouragement, I am waiting on a date as of now. I am already anxious and hoping to see improvements in myself like you write about. I am proud of you already and want to thank you for encouraging people like me who are scared but excited all at the same time. My patient advocate thinks my date will be in early December, I'll keep you posted! Keep up the good work!
