  1. I took blood pressure medicine every single day of my 40s. Now, 7 days into my 50s, I've been totally off of hypertension medicine for more than a month. Tonight -120/70
  2. I'm partially bragging so I can get recognition like yours, thanks  And I hope it can help to motivate others. My wife's success was a definite motivation for me.
  3. Is what I meant to say.

    Couch to 5k.....come join me!!

I had this problem for years because, like many of us, I was on blood pressure medicine, specifically a diuretic, that also depletes your potassium and I was taking a potassium supplement, now that I am off that medicine, things are much better, I'll ask my doctor about stopping the potassium when I see him next.
  5. My first few days were very similar. I was fortunate to have a wife who went through the same thing and insisted on taking the first week and and spending it with me. So I got lots of rest, relaxation and with in 2 weeks I felt back to normal and feeling better than ever
  6. That probably covers it. I wondered the same thing and from casual observation here, it seems like about 75% of the time there is no fill at the time of surgery. My surgeon seems to go longer than most and won't do a fill for 8 weeks.
  7. These days, with the H1N1, your lucky they let you on. I had a similar experience on a cruise ship, our first cruise surgery for both my wife and I. You don't want to appear sick on a ship for fear they will quarantine you.

    NW Pa, anyone?

Do you have the date on that one? I would love to do that as well, if I'm not already signed up for a 5K here. I did run the last 2 times I was in Erie, compared to Columbus, I had forgotten about all those hills. Columbus, is flat. (pun intended) Never mind, I looked it up, they are doing a 5k 10k at the same time, its 2 weeks after the one i have scheduled here in Columbus, will have to give it some thought.

    Want to start running...need encouragement

Many times during running your so busy just trying to "make it" you can forget to breath or breath shallow. Every so often during your run, take as deep a breath as you can. It can be amazing how your energy returns.

I'm actually looking forward to getting up at 6:30am on a Saturday for 5K #4. My first one at 50 years old. Another good cause, a benefit for the families of fallen law enforcement officers.

    Question... muslces!

Relax a while, its too soon after surgery to worry about getting in shape, concentrate on the eating part now and then worry about getting back into shape. Let yourself heal. It will be even easier to get back in shape after dropping 40 or so. For the first time, my legs now look like they did when I was 18. Now, I just need to remodel the front porch.
  13. I promise to make this one, This past weekend turned out to be the weekend from Hell, despite the fact that it was my 50th birthday. I promise to try and make July, but hopefully it won't appear that I am making it to gloat about being in Onederland and making my goal (I hope) I did enjoy going to a support group at OSU where they did a clothing exchange. Us bandsters are a majority at those meetings typically.
  14. Impressive pre-surgery loss, I'll bet you do well.

    Want to start running...need encouragement

Started the first day of my 50's (Yes, that is a hint for recognition) with a 2.4 mile run through the hood. Running in the morning is great, no traffic to deal with and for the most part, no people. The only person I saw was my brother in law Jim out watering his flowers. Not happy about canceling the birthday party I have been looking forward to for years. My mom's sister died, so that would have taken a 3rd of the guest away.
  24. I hope to join you in the next week or two. Congrats.
  25. I promise to make the next one, had to head out of town suddenly due to death in the family.
