    Not feeling full

remember to always measure your food....over eating can cause your pouch to stretch.....if you are feeling full. you ate too much....just measure your meals eat it slowly and stop....remember it takes your brain about 20 mins after you eat to realize your full....good luck.
  3. Good luck on your journey....it will change your life for the better....

1 Month and 40 lbs after surgery

Hang in there.. Try drinking some extra protein shakes. Once you start eating solid foods energy levels will increase. I was the same way, extremely tired. My band had no fluid in it, so it was all swelling. You most likely have a large stoma and are still swollen pretty good. We were actually the lucky ones. I lost about 40 lbs my first month. That will go away in time and you will start eating more. Make sure your getting your vitamins and plenty of water. After six weeks I started working out slowing and within another month my energy was through the roof. Hang in there things will improve, your doing great! P.S. speaking of energy levels, I ran 5 miles on a treadmil at 6 mph yesterday...and it felt great!:cool2:

    Please help!

Those people having issues are either too tight or not following the rules of the tool or both. If you follow the rules and listen to your band you will not have any issues. Make sure you use a good surgeon with a good track record. You need to have good follow up care as well. I have BP'd only once and that was my fault as I ate too fast. <always measure your food> Getting the band was the best decision I have ever made for myself. Good luck and remember people have a tendency to write about negative things rather than positive.
  9. My daughter was eight when I got my band. I showed her diagrams about what the band is. She understands what it does and I explained to her that because of the band I can only eat a little bit at a time. Seemed to not be a problem. Good luck

I don't know what to eat!

This is an example of what I typically eat on an average day when not working out. small glass of soymilk oatmeal (instant) or egg beaters yogurt (lowfat) piece of lowfat cheese chicken/steamed veggies (lunch) low fat rice cakes cottage cheese beef Jerky fish with Beans or veggies 1 orange whole grain cracker (about 15 of them) piece of cheese I eat about every 2-3 hours. about 4-5 oz This list is in order. of course I change things up if I am working out which I will eat more for energy needs. I eat often and drink about 80 oz of Water. I am never hungry. good luck.

Not banded yet - what will replace popcorn?

I eat popcorn all the time and never have any issues. Just make sure you snack in moderation. Good luck
  12. I had the last meal syndrom for about a month before my surgery thinking I wouldn't be able to eat those things again. First off that is not true it turnes out I can eat pretty much the same things except the amount is a lot smaller. I however choose to not eat junk as my body is so use to really healthy food items if I eat junk food now my body thinks it poison and I feel aweful. but thats just me. Remember after getting your band you and your body will be in for a shock. I suggest getting mentally prepared and taper off the junk food that way it will be easier to start your new life. Just fyi I go out to eat all the time, but I choose healthy items. It pretty cool because an entree it actually 3 meal for me. I just think that is so cool,,,saves me money. Good luck:thumbup:

    protein 60-90 grams

I used whey protein bullets to get the extra protein. Try the 42 gram ones. Blue Raspberry tasted the best in my opinion. Protein helped with the hunger. You officially in lapband hell. Things will get better I promise. Keep at it. Your doing great.:smile2:
  14. could me numerous things but I doubt it's something serious. If you are concerned call your doc. Relax and just take one day at a time.:smile2:

    Help deciding on lapband procedure

Having the band put in was the best thing I have ever done for myself. I have the Lapband not the realize. My doc showed me both and the size of the realize scared me. (really small) My doc said for men he prefers the Lapband because we seem to have bigger stoma's. I have lost weight, gained weight so many times I can't remember. So I decided I wanted to stay healthy for the long run and not go back. I can tell you that if I didn't have a band I would have gained some weight back. Sometimes in my mind I forget I even have a band and try to go back to my old eating habits. The band however always reminds me that 'i'm still here'! No matter what I do I can't eat the volumes like I use to. Good luck on making your decision.
  17. Your doc should have given you that info. This is what I have done....I take a chewable mulitvitamin....natures pride, its comparable to bariatric advantage but a lot cheaper. I take at least 1000ui of vitamin D. I also take a calcium citrate chewable (twin labs). I get these from the Vitamin Shoppe. Protein you need to be at least getting 50-60g per day but try to shoot for more. Isopure Pure Protein is a great protein powder. I like the creamy vanilla. Drink a lot of water. Shoot for a hundred oz a day. to help flush out your system. For hair loss I admit I have lost some but that is normal with losing a lot of weight. I heard Biotin helps prevent hair loss. Its in all multivitamins. Good luck and take your vitamins every day.

    Food Obsession

I was the same way. My brain's mentality has totally changed. I look at food as fuel for my body. I can pass up ice cream, cake etc without batting an eye. Now I am eating to live not living to eat. Good luck you have just learned the most important aspect of your journey. I am sure you will make it to your destination.

    Exercise Obsession

I am offically addicted to exercise. I feel that if I miss my workout I just dont feel right. First off try not to punish your body because you ate something you shouldn't have. Since your action is to exercise in responce to eating too much, this means your body is acting totally normal wanting extra food. The more you exercise the more calories your body needs. Just make sure your eating healthy all the time and you wont need to exercise yourself to death. Just be mindful of exercising too much, because if your not getting enough calories your body will start burning muscle. My issue is I am not letting my body recover enough. I am eating more trying to keep up with my calorie burn. I just had a fill recently and my calories have reduced which makes my workouts a lot harder. My body will get use to it. I just have to be sure I consume enough prior and after now. This always helps me. Make sure you drink a recovery protein shake after a tough workout. That way you get the calories and protein you need after a workout to build lean muscle tissue and you wont eat everything you see in the cupboards. Good luck and stay strong..

    Hello

I would say your one of the lucky ones. I too have had no issues thus far. (knock on wood) About the only thing was the lack of energy for the first 6 weeks. But my body got use to it and I started exercising which made me feel like a million bucks. Weight loss has been steady and fast. I am getting a fill tomorrow to help get the last lbs off. (my goal weight is my doctors goal weight, which I think is really low and wont happen since I am gaining muscle) Still losing but slower at this point. Before surgery I never exercised and now I can run 5 miles on a treadmill non-stop at 6mph. So yes I am feeling great and loving life. Good luck, eat healthy and often, and exercise:biggrin:.
  21. I had the exact same thing just after I was banded. Your stomach as a lot of air in it. Based on what your consuming that would make since. What I remember is when my stomach growled it hurt. That eventually went away and now it rarely happens. (since I always eat every three hours). Good luck

Before a fill, do you fast?

I always ate normal in the morning since my fills have always been around 2pm. I stopped eating about 2 hours prior to fills. After my fill I would drink some water and if all was good I would slowly eat a protein bar. I did this to make sure I am not too tight since where I get my fills is over an hour from where I live. I would then eat soft foods for the rest of the day moving to regular foods the next day.

    Left rib pain after surgery.

First off check with your surgeon. Sounds like to me it is some gas trapped and when you take a deep breath the pressure causes the pain. I had a lot a pain on my left side because my port is located there. Your body was put throught the ringer. So being bruised is normal.. Good luck and walk, walk, walk. Gas ex seemed to help with me.
  24. How often do you eat? Try eating small 4-6oz meals every 3 hours.. That will keep your metabolism running high. eat 80% protein, 20% complex carbs. Sounds like you metabolism slowed down abit. Give it some time and the weight will come off. I seem to lose weight in chunks. Slow weight loss followed by very fast. Everyone is different. Good luck:biggrin:
