  1. Thank you for your kind words I am too surprised I did not gain I think cause of me being pregnant and with little appetite that is why I most likely maintained. I am hoping that will a little fill I will get back on track and with my work I can start losing again. What did you think helped you to be so successful? How many CC's do you have right now ? and how much exercise did you do or do now? And how long did it take you to get to goal. Woo! there goes all my questions..lol and last one where is Washington are you

    Hello Everybody~

Some of you may know or remember me but it's been a while since I've been on here so here it goes. Had Surgery April 2009 was doing what I would call as "fair", losing weight, eating correct portions, Protein first exercising 5days a week... and All.

Then in August go in for appt with surgeon for normal check up and I had been feeling nausea but I thought nothing big... well they always have you do pregnancy test if LMP was not within last 10 days since my fills are done with fluro come to find out I am Pregnant.. WOW !!! lets just say we were not expecting that what a shocker we are thinking so we decide to keep it then after 3 months found out it was an etopic pregnancy so I lost the baby... going through lots of emotions as some of you may imagine. Time heals everything so I have come to accept and move on..

I am ready to get back on track.. I have managed to lose and maintain 30 pounds loss and with me being 3 months of it pregnant I am okay with that...just feeling like I need some tips and rules anything with some inspiration that has helped any of you when you were on that feeling down bus.. just needing to know where to start I feel so out of touch...

I am hoping by my one year I can lose at least another 50pounds.. Help a sista out.. Thanks for letting me vent.

  6. Wow Congratulatons!!!!You are such an inspration and it is great to hear from long term bandsters. How much did you lose at 6months and when did you really start losing. I am 4months post op and I have only lost 20lbs.. very discouraged. But I do my VERY best everyday. Just wanting to know what helped you

  7. I was at a plateau for almost one month and didn't lose anything and I am now back on track with my last fill and feel better restriction so I hope I get to losing again soon!!!. I have had to modify my workout a little as well cause my doctor told me that could be a factor too when doing the same your body gets used to it and doesn't burn as much. You have done awesome with your weight loss what are your tips for newbies like me? How many time do you eat day and what is your calorie intake?

  8. I am just about 2 months out (surgery 4/30) and am not losing weight OR inches. I am gaining and losing the same couple of pounds since pre surgery. I had my first fill of 5cc (11 cc band) on 6/8 and am scheduled for my 2nd fill 7/8. I know that everyone differs as far as when restriction is reached, but I am getting very discouraged and as a result, turning to food! I am sure I am eating less than before surgery but I can still eat! During my first fill appt, I was disappointed to see the scale up from surgery but knew this was likely. The person weighing me told me "don't worry about it, you're not that big anyway"....so why did they do the surgery on me?! I did this for weight loss as well as getting rid of the other health issues!

When I recently emailed the office to ask about my next fill and again expressed frustration at not losing weight....I was told to "remain diligent with healthy eating and exercise"...if I could have done this to begin with, I would have skipped the major surgery! I don't want to count calories anymore!

Right after surgery I did well with my eating. I am now pretty much eating the same types of foods as presurgery.

Exercising maybe 2-3 times a week. I realize this takes some work on my part but I need to see some love from this band to get my motivation back! I'm stepping down from my soapbox..thanks for letting me vent

This is very common with weight gain during post op. Some lose and then gain after liquid phase so that does happen. My weight loss did slow down after the liquids phase. Stick with eating Protein first etc. Don't start eating all the wrong food cause in the end you will be very disappointed with yourself cause it is very easy gain weight.. losing it is the HARD part.. :cursing:I know it is not easy. But you are doing great with exercising and 9lbs is GREAT!! your body is still healing and your body is adjusting. I started keeping food journal this week and that has helped me cause writing everything down really make you realize how much you are eating. Hang in there and take care

  9. Sugga4Fun

I posted something along the same lines so do a forum search and you should find something along this subject that I posted. However I can add I am in the same boat I have lost over 10" total but my weight is steady at 15lbs. I might have lost some more this week... but I will check 2mor.

Muscle does weigh more the fat. So you are most likely building muscle. So hang in there the weight will come off. You look like you have done well with the weight loss so far so congrats.. Take care

  10. You are doing excellent. You are supposed to be loosing 1-2 lbs per week... that is what we signed up for, slow and steady so that it can be maintained and not gained back. And as far as the inches... some people wish they could hit a NSV (Non-Scale Victory) like that. Look at it all girl... you are doing wonderfully.

Thanks Girly you are absolutely right about what we signed up for. I am happy that is coming off slowly in a way cause it does give my skin and body time to adjust cause I am concerned with that excess skin. So I am hanging in there. Take Care Congrats on the weight loss

  11. You could leave all fruit out while you are early in the weight loss. It contains too much sugar. My dr's recommend not eating fruits other than berries the first year. In fact, one of the Dr's says to eat only Protein and vegetables that grow above the ground.........nothing else until we have reached our goal. He's very strict (not the one I request lol), but he does have the lap band and has lost over 100 pounds and maintained it for several years.

I have a pamphlet that I got when I had surgery and it does advise to eat only 1/2-1 piece of fruit two months after surgery but maybe I will stop eating so much fruit. I just figure if I want something sweet that it is better to eat that then junk food and also it is convenient with my schedule. My surgeons and Nutritionist do not like the Protein shake thing only 48hrs after fills they would prefer that get full from Protein first of course and solids.

    Take Care

    Thank you for replying

  12. Thanks Emjay and Bam Bam for your kind words and motivation. I am definitely going to stick with this and give it 100% I did not get WLS surgery to give up. This is an ongoing journey and I know that not all times will be easy and this is just one of those times.

I am trying to focus on eating the right thing and as far and fruit and veggies. Should I only have one piece of fruit and one veggie? I am having 2 fruits at least and 2 veggies if even more sometimes. So maybe that is a factor? I know I am not at my "sweet spot" but my doc said I could go again in 2weeks if needed. My last fill was a week ago and it feels like it just kicked in. Do any of you get headaches from not eating enough calories. I know that when I workout sometimes I will get headaches so if I eat a little more then it goes away. Again thank you all for your input and Jennifer 75 talk with your dietician but I know it is a struggle.. so hang in there

    Take Care

  13. mine too calories are low with a 6.5 in my band.. im eating between 700-900 if i have wine

    Hi Debbie,

Assuming you are but you never know are you exercising and how much? My Doc told me not to go below 1000 if I was just controlling my weight loss through diet but If I exercised to stick with at the least 1000-1200. Great job on your weight loss? Can you give my an example of your daily diet? Thank you

  14. Sounds like you are doing great with exercise - way to go! My only question would be the amount of calories - I know every single Dr. is different, but mine told me after I was filled that my diet would consist of only around 500 calories per day.

    Good Luck!

Thanks for everyone's comments and advice. As to the comment made about 500 calories that is absurd 500 calories is not enough at all for anyone maybe during your liquids stage but once you are on solids at least 800/calories. I would be cranky:mad:..lol. But I burn 800-900 calories doing elliptical for an hour and that is not including any weight training so I could not survive on that amount. If you consume to less of calories you sometime will not lose weight either cause your body is in starvation mode and it hanging on to any calories you eat. So I better stick to at least 1000cal. I am going to up my exercise to hopefully 5-6 days but right now my schedule only allows for 4-5 at the most. Thank again

    Take care

  15. Hi All

I am needing a little help here I am not losing weight only inches. I am two months post op and I have lost over 10" total and 14-15lbs. I am making sure I stick between 1200-1500 calories granted some weekend I have had some alcoholic beverages. I am exercising at least 4days/wk cardio for one hour and some weight training. This week I have started a food journal but I need some encouragement? how did you get past plateaus?. Also I have 4cc in my band got a second fill last week

    Thank you

  16. Thank you potatie for tips and everything. I am getting my Protein in first most of the time and I have joined a gym as well I try for a minumin of four days and more if I can get it in. I am really trying to focus on my diet and portions cause I was not eating the best the last week so that has stalled my weight loss. But I am back this week and hopefully that will help. I have only had one fill and I go for my second 6/17 I have 3cc's in there currently. What foes a typical day of your diet look like and how much weight did you loss by the second month.
