The Biblical Case for Pro-Choice & Stem Cell Research
anonemouse replied to Tired_Old_Man's topic in Rants & Raves
I admit I don't know of any. But that is probably more due to me not researching it than there not actually being any. But I do have to say one thing: Creation science and intelligent design are not serious scientific disciplines. Serious scientific disciplines actively seek to disprove their hypotheses and theories. Creationists and IDists, on the other hand, don't. If something can not be taught as "science" then it is not science. The following is a quote from www.talkorigins.com, in response to the idea that evolutionists have blinded themselves to seeing design as a result of their preconceptions and bias for materialism. ETA: I found this, so I know there are at least some former creationists turned evolutionists out there. -
Thanks! I am hoping that everything will start going faster, now that my surgeon's office has re-faxed all the paperwork.

Many of them, yes. Others, I believe, just happened to die in the right location or at the right time to be fossilized. You really do, IMO, have to remember that fossilization of any organism isn't likely. If it was, we would literally be up to our necks in fossils, when you consider how many living organisms there are and extrapolate that to past populations. In most cases, dead organisms are eaten or decay naturally, leaving little evidence behind. The theory of evolution doesn't state that a species must evolve. Evolution is just an obvious endpoint to natural selection. If a species isn't facing any pressure to adapt, there is no pressure to evolve. As the saying goes, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". -

Now you are getting the point. Fossilization is fairly rare because the conditions have to be right for it. Otherwise, everytime we dig a hole, we'd find a fossil. As long as an individual dies in a way that can prevent something tearing apart its body, you can find intact fossils. And like I posted in my last post: -

Sorry, I've been trying to keep it short, for the most part, unless I was responding to something specific. -
George Bush: Worst American president in history
anonemouse replied to Sunta's topic in Rants & Raves
His middle name is Hussein, and he did go to a Muslim (but all-inclusive) school for a few years. I don't know whether he himself was Muslim, though. Check out the Obama for President thread for more details. -

Thank you. -
Really? I highly doubt that. You, by all accounts, are a highly educated woman. I can't see how ANY woman, but especially one such as yourself, wouldn't be able to see that the word "gang-raped" can have an extremely negative connotation, especially when the comment is about a discussion. Let me ask you this: When you were typing that statement, did you happen to think what your friend that had been raped would think of that comment? If you think she probably would have objected or been hurt by it, you probably shouldn't have said it.

The following is a quote from a website, not my own wording. If anyone wants to know about the "fossilized" spark plug, here is an article. -
That's all you can say, "life can suck"? Would you think about saying that to a child that was raped and the man who did it was never prosecuted? "Get over it. Life can suck." The fact that a lot of the people on death row ARE guilty does not excuse the deaths of the convicts that WERE INNOCENT. And I'm sorry, but it is state-sponsored murder when there is a time limit on the introduction of new evidence. What are you supposed to do if new technology shows that you were innocent, but it is a year after your time to introduce new evidence is up? Would you want a prosecuter to tell you to "get over it, life can suck" if your husband was wrongfully convicted and sentenced to death row?

Thanks, BJean. I know that I should just take a deep breath and walk away from this thread, but it keeps pulling me back in.:faint: It's just really frustrating when everything finally calms down and then blows up again because someone doesn't think about the effect of what they are saying.
-
Too late. I already reported it. It was ENTIRELY inappropriate to refer say that you were "gang-raped" by someone's opinion that you COULD HAVE WALKED AWAY FROM AT ANY TIME.
-
No, actually, it proves OUR point. You know, those of us who were protesting Ron's language. I don't see how you can refer to an online discussion as "gang-rape" imply that those of us who disagree with you are rapists and expect to not be called on it.

I would ask you the same question. Where did you see something about a miner's hat being fossilized? -
Thank you. Holy cow. I am just going to go hide under my chair and watch and laugh, 'cause this ain't gonna go over well. Nice knowin' ya, Gadgetlady.

The financial counsellors at my surgeon's office supposedly faxed my paperwork to insurance over two weeks ago. I got an email from Tonya, on of cousellors, saying that they would check every week to see what the progress was. I sent one of them an email on Monday, asking how everything was doing. I got an email today from her. She said that she had called AVMA (the insurance company) today, and they said that everything would have to go to First Health (the underwriter of the policy). So she called First Health and was told that the fax number she had sent everything to was old and that she needed to resubmit. Um, shouldn't she have found this out when she supposedly called them last week? According to her first email, she was going to call them every week until they made a decision! Not to mention the fact that the financial counsellors apparently don't know what each other is doing. I had gotten an email a couple of days before Tonya's, from another of the counsellors, saying that she had sent everything off and had gotten a confirmation fax from the insurance company!

I really, REALLY recommend the www.talkorigins.org archive to anyone who is interested. They have all the creationist arguments and the responses to them indexed. You should really check it out. Plus, the lack of buzz-words really makes in pleasant to read. -
If they weighed you at all, they should have than in their records, and that would count towards the 5 years.

He's managed to stir up crap on www.obesityhelp.com, also. I wasn't there for it, but apparently a thread he started got to six pages before it got deleted by mods. Apparently, a lot of the people thought he was a little out there.
