    Hi, Need Some Advice...

I have to agree that getting the band was the best decision I ever made. I had my surgery in June 2008 and have lost 40 pounds. I love my band. When I do eat to fast or do not chew my food well, then yes it will come back up...but it is not that bad. It is not like throwing up, it just pops back out, kind of hard to explain. Anyway, the band is a great tool for me, it let's me be in control of my eating for the first time in a loooong time. Lucy

What is the fastest way to INCREASE my Iron?

I agree with Mimi. Eat a steak and drink a glass of orange juice with it. Red meat and Vit C can do wonders for increasing your Iron. Lucy

As far as meats after regular foods is bison ok?

I just had a Bison steak the other night. I found it at Wal-Mart next to the regular steaks. They also had ground bison. My husband cooked it on the grill for me and I could not tell the difference between it and a beef steak. Lucy
  5. Nice to hear from you. Yes, I have been in Arkansas all my life. It really is very nice here.

I think elementary teachers and high school teachers look at each other and think OMG...how can you deal with those kids all day...lol!

    OMG, Am i conservative?

I would not have liked it either. As a mom I would have found this unacceptable. JMO. Lucy:smile2:
  7. For me, I think the biggest thing is the way I view food. I used to obsess about food and stuff my face like there was never going to be anymore. Now when I see my someone with a huge plate of food, I think omg...how can you eat that much! Funny thing is, I could have ate that much and more with no problem before the band. What's great is my portion size has changed not only in my tummy but in my head as well:smile2: Lucy

    struggling with food

Hang in there it will get better. I eat a healthy diet with plenty of fruits, veggies, lean protiens and whole grains. I don't even miss bread anymore. I do eat brown rice and sweet potoatoes, these are very filling and healthy. I tend to focus on natual and healthy foods. I see this as MY chance to change my lifestyle  Lucy

    What was your "Moment"?

I was so tired of being sick and tired and fat. I made an appointment with a Registered Dietican, I needed some help. I followed the diet she put me for a total of 1 1/2 days. I was disgusted with myself that I could not follow a proper eating plan. I then spoke to one of my aunts who told me she had the lap band done and had lost 30 pounds. I talked to my husband about it, once again and this time he agreed. I have never looked back I'm so glad I did it.
  10. Oh my gosh! The left shoulde pain was awful. It was the only thing that bothered me about the surgery. It lasted for about 2 months and I have been fine for the last 4 months. The nurse told me it was from where they blowed my diagphram up with air during the procedure. I hated it!! But I would do it all over again. I love my lap band and do not regret it at all.
  11. This was also discussed during my pysch evaluation. She mentioned all those things and shopping also. To be honest with you, no sort of addictive behavior has crossed my mind or crept into my life. I had the surgery on June 19th 2008 and I can tell you that Life is Great!! I am happy and lead a totally normal life. Wishing you the best! lucy

    New Member but...

Well, Hello from Arkansas. I also just registered to use the site. I was banded (that just sounds wierd) on June 19th 2008. I have lost 25 pounds. I had my 3rd fill on October 8th, and boy let me tell you, that was the one that did it for me...I have hit my sweet spot. So anyway, we will see how it goes from here. Everything has been going great. Good luck to you Lucy
