  1. Wow - so close to onederland! Congrats of such good success ColoradoMom! My goal is to make it to Onederland by Christmas and I was at 207 this morning - so it is totally do-able! 207 is what I weighed when I got married nearly 20 years ago, so my husband was pretty tickled when I told him what the scale read this moring. He's been such a sweetie during all my gains and losses over the years. Have a great week everyone.
  2. I would have gone into severe depression if it weren't for that decimal point!!! Good news, I am back on track so please put me down for -2 pounds this week. No more pie for me!
  3. I have been in denial - but I gotta stop. I gained 1.5 pounds this week and undid a week's worth of careful eating! Ugh!
  4. Hi RobinAnn, I have updated my info on the spreadsheet and then added it to my favorites to see if it will be easier to find this time round. Thanks for setting this up - I really like it.
  5. Hi Julie, Please put me down for -1.5 pounds this week. Slow-n-steady! I did see Dr. K for a slight fill on Tuesday and its really helping with the between meal hunger I was starting to have. Lots of burping but no trouble swallowing. Dee - I have been thinking of you and the surgery date that is so close. Best wishes to you and I look forward to seeing some photos as you recover.
  6. Hi Deb, I'm sorry I missed you too. I could use a dose of your goofiness! :-) I live about 90 minutes from that part of Denver and it would have been past my bedtime if I'd met up with you so late. I'm hoping for next time. I think maybe it is time for a bit of a fill. I haven't lost more than three pounds in the last several weeks. I can eat pretty much anything, as long as I take small bites and eat slowly. But I am getting hungry sooner than I used to, and am definitely eating larger portions...What do you think? How do you know when you are ready to get "topped-off"? Mary
  7. Hi Julie, Please put me down for 13 pounds by Christmas. Mary
  8. I am in the US, Dr. Kirschenbaum did my surgery in Nov of 2009 and I am down almost 60 pounds. He recommends a balanced diet that starts with protein first. Then veggies, fruit, dairy and oh yeah, grain. Whole grains are best. I don't have any trouble getting pasta or rice down, and enjoy the whole grain and brown versions of those. A little trick I learned from the old Weight Watchers days was to use a small plate. It really helps. I bought four assorted salad sized plates in an antiques mall. They are very pretty - and just for me. They fill up with a small quantity of food, which is enought to fill me up. When we are out at a pot-luck, or a buffet, I still have trouble with portion control and end up leaving a lot of uneaten food on my plate. That makes me feel wasteful. Mary
  9. I like it Julie - I updated my two week loss, to date. Mary
  10. Hi Julie, I lost 1.5 pounds the first week, and only .5 pounds this second week. Mary
  11. Good for you Danyett. Excercise is the one thing that I truly have not been motivated enought to get serious about. Might explain my slow weight loss! Mary
  12. Hi Julie, Please put me down for minus 1.5 punds this week. Mary
  13. Hi everyone, I'm back from yet another vacation... I would like to join the Halloween challenge, please. As of this morning, I am at 215 pounds. My goal is to find Onederland in time for Halloween!! I can actually see some light at the end of the tunnel. :mad2: SO...Please put me down for 15 pounds. I'm gonna have to work hard but hitting onederland will be close to my bandaversary (Nov. 24). Mary
  14. Wah! I'll have to miss RR again. I have vacation next week and we're spending it at Lake Pueblo. The last hooray for the summer. Mary

    Someone mentioned anorexia?!?!?!?

You amaze me Julie.Ann! More than 100 pounds in well under a year. I loved your blog about surprising your family. How awesome was that! Remember that muscle weighs more than fat, but takes up less space. You may be in better shape now than when you graduated from high school, which is why you wear smaller sizes at the same weight. I also read an article that said that clothing sizes have changed, and are larger now than they were 10 or 15 years ago. Depressing thought. Hey, Sarahp626, I agee with you! Everyone has an opinion about what I should be - it gets old. I'm a lot older than you and Julie.Ann, and am worried about having all that loose, stretched out skin. So I am deliberately going for a slower loss. I'm right at 50 pounds off, and had the surgery on Nov. 24 - so that's 9 months, right? The bottom line: I'm not hungry, I don't feel deprived, I feel and look a helluva lot better and I'm not done yet!!! Mary
  16. Hey HoneyBee! It is really important that you follow the pre-op, low carb diet. It reduces the size of your liver, which is necessary for Dr. K. to do his thing. It is a very livable diet. Like RobinAnn, I also lost 8 pounds on the pre-op. I was pretty uncomfortable the first 24 hours after surgery and then it got much better very quickly. Good luck to you and keep us posted! Mary
  17. Congratulations! I admire your hard work and drive. Look what you have accomplished. Now, if you could just get that surgery! Mary
  18. Welcome Colorado! We are happy to have you on the bandwagon. Keep us posted on the Sept. surgery. We have all been there and are happy to share our ideas and suggestions. Mary
  19. Patty, you crack me up - you have no idea how far down those hooters go...then again, maybe you do? I love the suggestion of inviting Dr. K., it might be a nice opportunity for him to see us in real life. My 20th anniversary is next June, and we are planning an Alaskan cruise. I hope to finalize it soon and will share the details once we know. That would be so much fun to have fellow lapbanders on board! Mary
  20. Hi my Denver friends! Sometimes I wonder if its worth taking vacation - I have up to my ears in alligators since my return. I'd love to join you all on the "gambling junket" in November, if there's room in the car. I'm going to try and attached two photos. One is from July of 2008 and the other is from July 2009. Hopefully, you all can see a difference...I'm down 50 pounds between the two. Mary
  21. Hi everyone, I just got home from two weeks in Savannah plus the drive home. I ate my way accross several states and managed to gain two pounds. BUT in the good-ole-days, I would have gained 10 pounds! So it is back to the grindstone for me. Weekends don't work for me for Red Robin, it's such a long drive from home, plus we have stuff going almost every weekend through labor day. But I wish you all well and hopefully will see you in September. Mary
  22. Hey Patty, I loved the slide show. How far you have come! FYI - I had a false positive for Hep C five or six years ago. Many follow-up tests show that I never had it. I wish you the same. Mary
  23. Hi VJsmiles. Since being banded in Nov of '08, I have had a total of 4 fills in Dr. K's office. Three were with him and one was with his PA. In all four fills, they got it the first time and without the flourescope. Dr. K. and his staff are absolute experts in this field. I had set up financing through one of the companies that is linked to Dr. K's website and got approved. They sent a letter to his office verifying they would pay for the surgery. They were very easy to work with, and had a variety of payment plans. I ended up cancelling the loan because we had been saving for a new vehicle for awhile, and given how little interest it was earning in savings, we decided to pay cash. I'll have savings paid back in full by December, and my sweet husband will have his nest-egg back for his next truck. Good luck with whatever you decide to do. Mary
  24. Sorry about the BOOM-BOOM problem. I feel your pain, sista! Miralax really does the trick fo me. I had some terrible problems after my first restriction and someone on this website told me about it. I take about 1/2 a dose two or three nights a week before bed and I haven't had a problem since. Of course, I am eating better now too. The new furniture sounds lovely. I've been eyeing my own living room lately. I'll have my surgery paid off in December:tongue2:, so I'll start looking after then. Mary
