  1. I know this will probably get a lot of negative comments...and I certainly do not mean to hurt anyone, but sometimes I get so tired of reading threads where the person has lost a minimal amount of weight because they have cheated or not exercised...then I look at their stats and see that insurance covered their surgery.

I was not lucky enough to have my insurance cover my surgery. I had to finance the $13,900 that the surgery costs. Every time I think about eating wrong or not exercising, I think about the $300 a month that I am paying. I have lost 73 pounds in four months. To tell you the truth, I may not have done as well myself if my insurance had convered mine.

I MYSELF WAS SELF PAID I PAID A TOTAL OF 17,000 DLLS. I THINK THAT YOUR COMMENT IS VERY IGNORANT.:):cursing::ohmy:

  2. Still discouraged. My daughter went for her 6th, yes 6th fill last week and still no sweet spot. We are 11 months out and weight loss has stopped. She lost 20 almost instantly and then nothing. A few pounds have even come back on. They look at her and say are you watching your carbs???? She needs to reach that sweet spot! She is now at 8.2 cc in a 9 cc Realize band. I know they say this band can be stubborn but what the heck! Months are ticking by and each month we think this will be the fill that gets her there and I'm beginning to wonder if she will ever get there. I read about people after 11 months losing tons of weight and its not happening here. This can't all be her fault. The idea is to not be able to each much before filling up and if thats not happening then whats the point. Anyone else take this long? Doc will not give fills more than once a month. I sent him an email and basically begged for him to make an exception to his rule. I asked him if there wasn't any way we could get more aggressive.

your daughter is not alone i have had the band for two years, yes two years and i have only lost 45 pounds.i lost this weight because after not loossing any weight at all for 1 year i started to diet on my own.till this day i have no restriction only a weard pain when i eat that goes away in afew seconds.i have had 8 fills...no more for me...im gona do it the only way i have done so for the last year diet and exercise....its wonderfull to hear success lapband stories....but please know that there is alot of people just like me and your daughter......keep trying lots of love...

  3. hi there. I guess you could put me in the "success" category. I'm am a 35 year old female who began my lap band journey on april 30, 2007. In september 2006 i had reached the point where i couldn't take it anymore. I went to my doctor and told him that i was interested in lapband. I had to follow the six-month "diet" before going to a surgeon. I did that and didn't lose any weight. So...off to a surgeon i went.

My surgery was planned for april 30 and i had to do a two week liquid diet (optifast). So...on april 16, 2007 i had a "farewell to fat" party at my house. I was done with it and ready to begin my "new life". On april 17 (the day that i started the liquid) i weighed 275 pounds.

I am married (struggling with issues currently) and i have two lovely little boys. I work for the federal government in washington dc. I have been with this agency for over 17 years.

To date, i have lost 128 pounds. I have a new life...i feel great, have tons of energy and feel like a completely different person. I know how hard this is to do by yourself so i am available to assist anyone in any way that i can. I know that if i can do it...anyone can...

Feel free to contact me and i'll assist you as best i can.
