  1. Hello.

Glad to hear everyone is losing and doing well. I have not posted anything for a long time. DD sorry to hear about your slipage and I am glad your doing well. Great weight loss. I have not been losing, I have been going in, getting the fluro's and band is exactly filled to where it should be. I just don't get it. Another weight loss failure. It will be one year next month and I am still wearing the same clothes. Nothing has changed for me. I stopped doing my 2 mile walks everyday since the scale was not moving, I stopped doing Weight Watchers since I was not losing very much with it. I just don't get how everyone else can eat such small amounts with the band and not be hungry and lose the weight. I guess this was just not for me. If I could make the right choices and eat less I would not have wanted the band. The band is suppose to help with that and it hasn't. Going in again today for a fill and have an appointment with one of the head strong nurses there. Maybe she can kick my butt back into the right frame of mind. Wish me luck.

  2. That is awesome. I don't know why it has been such a struggle for me. I eat right most of the time, and I work out. I just can't get to 40 pounds down. Each time I get there, the weight goes right back the next few days. I have also gained like 4 pounds thanks to being bloated :cursing: I am trying to stay postive, but its hard sometimes. I needs some tip. I am nine months in, I should be at least 50 pounds down.

Well that was my hope and prayer.

    :(

I have not been on here for months in fear of hearing how well everyone is doing but me. Glad to know I am not the only one not losing.

  3. good morning everyone. just wanted to check in. i had my 4th post op/fill appt yesterday. i've lost 13lbs since my last appointment 5 weeks ago and i am very excited about it. my doctor was reluctant to give me any additional restrction and i wasnt 100% sure that i needed any either, but after a long discusion we agreed that a very small addition would be appropriate (.5) and we'd see what happens.

I am so happy for you, that is awesome. Glad to hear your losing so well. I have had 2 flouroscopys within the last 3 weeks. Still trying to get it right. I went in today and got a fill and I think this one may be it. I am at 7.8cc in a 10cc. I actually felt full tonight and still do. I am keeping my fingers crossed.

  4. yes wannabe, isn't that great??? I notice you are on the same timeline as well, good for you. My doctor cares about my health, and takes pride in his work. he does not encourage large fills because it takes time to adjust eating habits with each step of restriction. i did not go into this thinking i would take off 60+ pounds that took 20+ years to gain. i have taken it off the smart way, slow and steady. we all make our choices, i am glad i made mine good choices. G2S

Same time line? I have lost 20 pounds in 4 months I would not call us in the same time line. Most doctors that don't want to fill you right away are normally the ones that want to drain your money with fills.

  5. hey whoa girls don't give up yet. you need restriction, and then you need to learn how to eat with restriction. there is a huge difference. if you are throwing up after a fill, ask yourself if you are eating tiny, and i mean pencil eraser size, bites of food and chewing to liquid. are you swallowing large amounts of Water and it is coming back up? well then take sips. have food in small quantities with you all day. i realized that i was at work 8 hours a day, take enough good food with me to keep me from looking for the bad when i got hungry. i had surgery 3/5/08, and finally have perfect restriction as of 3/3/09. i get full eating Soup, now that is a big switcheroonie. so try it, meet the band half way and you will see your success. G2S

So you have only lost 30 pounds in a year? Have you talked to your doctor? Have you had a flouroscopy?

  6. I feel the same way about telling people. At first I was emabarrassed to say anything to anyone about even having the surgery. Now it's even worse because everyone knows and I am still big. It is the most frusterating thing ever!!

I know I have tried to think of excuses on why it is not working.

Like: Oh I had it removed.

Or oh I have not had them put any Fluid in it.

Or I had a fautly band so it just isn't working.

Or I was just kidding I never had the surgery.

    Nothing sounds believable. LOL

  7. I to am not losing. I lost 10 right after surgery only because I had to gain 10 to have my insurance cover it. So since then I have only lost 5 pounds and that is because I to joined WW to lose. I am so sick of having this band and not losing. Went to the doctor yesterday for a flouroscopy to find out I was too restricted. He took out 1cc. So I am really confused. I was too tight and still not losing but lets take some out so I eat more? The whole point of getting the surgery is to help control hunger. My doctor even told me I should not have to join WW in order to be losing. I guess that is my desperate attempt to make myself feel better so I can lose something. It is so embarassing to have told people, which I know I shouldn't have, that I had surgery and then to see me lose nothing. Talk about lowering ones self esteem. Makes you feel like a big fat loser. HA no pun intended.

  8. I applaud everyone on the weight they have lost.. I am truely shocked though that so many still want to follow this program. I didn't get banded to go on a diet. I guess that's how I ended up with the band because I couldn't stand structured diets like that. I would fall off the wagon then feel like a failure and go back to what I knew best... Volume eating.

I didn't get banded to go on another diet either. Last thing from my mind. But when the band is not working and it is going on 4 months with no weight loss. Time to do something and WW has always worked for me.

  9. My doctor has us call in if we get the flu. There are pills you can take to keep you from throwing up. I still have some on hand just in case. Sounds like you may be swollen still from throwing up. Call your doctor to make sure. See if he can prescribe you those pills to have on hand in case that happens again. Hope you feel better soon. Keep us posted.

  10. I havent been on here in Forever bcz I was really frustrated , I still have NOT gotten a fill ! I have another appt this thursday and informing my doc that I my hunger is increasing ! Am I the only one that hasnt gotten a fill yet??

I am so jealous of everyone losing so much weight  oh well i will slowly get there!

I am still happy with my band though !

That is wonderful you have lost 20 pounds. I have had 6 fills and still not where you are. So don't get jealous. Your doing great.

  11. Wannabeskinnyb,

I was told the same thing...that since my BMI was lower, I would lose at a slower pace. I had my surgery on Nov. 20th at 213 lbs., and I am currently fluctuating between 196 and 199 lbs. Let's keep each other encouraged. How tall are you? I am 5 feet 4.5 inches. Also what size do you wear? Have you taken your measurements yet? Take care, Delivered

I am 5'2" and wear a 14. Have not lost any inches either.

  12. WannaB, I wanted to suggest to you that you were probably so restricted that you were taking in way less than your optimal daily calories, which results in your body reverting to starvation mode and holding onto every calorie you eat - resulting in absolutely no weight loss. But, last time I tried suggesting something to a fellow Bandster you got upset with me - .

I did not get upset with you. I thought it was pretty mean for you to freak someone out that was new to banding, that she had a slipped band when you are not a doctor. And to tell someone that without all the circumstances was not cool. Had nothing to do with calories. And that person sent me a PM thanking me for saying something to you.

  13. I don't want anyone here to think I only eat low carb or that I only eat 1/2 cup of food at each meal OR even that I eat Protein then veggies at each meal. I am not that disciplined and my band does not like that 3 x's equal portion deal. I normally have an 8 oz Protein Shake in the morning followed by a skinny latte. lunch is often one of those tuna salad packs (yes, the crackers too!!) or chili (not low carb either!!). Sometimes, I just have another latte (milk is not low carb either!) For dinner, I try to have meat or fish and veggies, but sometimes have Beans and last night ate an entire ultimate cheeseburger from Jack in the Box without the bun. I am always very hungry finally at the night time meal so I eat a big meal usually, but never past being satisfied. I also eat spaghetti sauce with hambuger quite often with very little spaghetti or none. I hit a plateau for a couple weeks and added a couple TBS of Peanut Butter later in the evening and after 3 days of that I dropped 2 pounds and now another. The nut said I was not consuming enough calories to lose and he was right!!! So, what does everyone else eat???

You may have something there. I am eating a lot more than before now that I am on WW, and have noticed the scale is finally starting to move. Would be great to have to eat more to lose. :cursing:

  14. I do have a question....do you have to eat their meals, or do you have to cook your own? Isn't it expensive? My hubby (he only needs to lose about 10 lbs the rat....he can take off 20 lbs in a month, but that last 10 is always a pain) has been bugging me to check out WW or Jenny Craig for him, but it seems like everything I've read is that you have to eat their food....and it seems as though it's a lot of money.

Weight Watchers is good because you eat regular food. Anything you want. Everything is worth points by how much fat and calories are in it. You get so many points per day. So you figure out what you want to eat that day based on your points for the day. I like it, and it has always worked in the past. Hopefully with the band it will work even better. I have had a few private messages sent to me from others on WW with the band and say it really works well together. I will keep you posted on how I do.

  15. I FOUND I FOUNDIT!!!! My sweet spot! Thank God, and I mean that! Before I could eat bread , no problem at all(which isnt a good thing for me because I am a carb addict). I could eat a whole 6" sandwhich from subway no proble and a bag of baked lays. But today as I sit here typing, my six sub has benn cut down to a 3" opened face and it questionable at this point if I will even be able to ge that down. I really hope that this is it and that it STICKS!!!

Good Luck I hope it works for you. I have been there and a few days later back to before. So I hope for you it stays for you. Keep us posted.

  16. My doctor does not say anything about my weight loss since I only see nurses when I go in. They have about 8 nurses that do the fills. I guess once the doc gets his money there is no need for him to see you. The nurse just keeps telling me that since my BMI was lower than most it will take time. I am sick of hearing it will take time. How much more time?

Allthings- where I go you are not suppose to eat bread, potato, rice or Pasta. Which I don't. I am hoping with WW I will start losing. I can't get filled anymore since the last time I went in for an unfill of .15cc so I could get fluids down. So I think I am at where I can be with the fills.

Good news though this morning after WW for 2 days I finally dropped two pounds this morning. :scared2: But since today is my birthday I will probably gain that back today. Oh well at least I know WW will work. And I am finally under 200 today (199) even if it is only for the day. Tee Hee

  17. for me personally when the scale stops moving and i retrace my steps i can USUALLY find something that i could have done better (more Water, better food choices, more exercise or a more intense workout....something) we are going to plateau on whatever diet we try, jenny craig, weight watchers, adkins and they ALL work as long as you use them the way that they were intended to be used...just like the band. i know alot of us are still searching for the elusive sweet spot but until we find it we have to step up our game in ever other aspect, we have to make the right food choices, as much as possible, and we we dont we need to make up for that with more exercise. calories burned minus calories in equals weight loss.

Thank you for trying to keep us positive. But all these things you pointed out I did before the band and lost. So why did we get the band? I am not losing a thing on the band. I am going back to a diet I know works for me. My issue is why did I get the band if I am going back to the making good choices and exercise. I certainly did not need a band for that. I am not sure what the band is suppose to be doing, other than making things stick and pb'ing. It is really getting hard to try to stay positive with something I have yet to see do anything for me.

  18. Anyone out there doing Weight Watchers with the band? I have had it with this band and not losing a pound. Had to have an unfill last week cause I could not get Water down. So I am filled. Still not losing a thing. Just wondered if anyone out there is on WW and how it is working for you? :)

  19. I don't know about the rest of you Novembens but I have had it with this band and not losing. And before you all go and tell me I need a fill, I don't. I had to get an unfill so I could get Water down. So I am filled.

So yesterday I went to Weight Watchers and joined. Hopefully now the scale will start moving. Sad that you have to pay for a diet after having surgery that was suppose to work. :) What's the point.

I will you keep you posted on how it goes.
