  1. I go to the gym. I hated curves. I hated the music they played and I hated using the same machines over and over in a circle.

I love they gym. My gym has all the cardio machines hooked up to the tvs so I can watch tv while I work out. I also really enjoy the classes they have.

I did join a gym and had my first session today. Got shown all the machines and this 'jump start program'. It was fine while i did it but my legs hurt in spots i forgot i had. But I can't wait till I go again. I did feel I would get tired of the same old circle of machines over and over again. I am ready for some results!!!!!. I guess you can tell I'm very impatient. It's all good. Power to us all.

  2. I was wondering if any of you are in any type of exercise program belong to a gym or go to curves. i thought about curves but felt i wouldn't like being locked into the program having to use the same machines and order over and over again. i decided to join a gym. Haven't had my initial session yet. can't wait. i must jumppstart my metabolism again and get back on the wt. loss wagon. it seems the closer you get to goal the harder it is to lose. i feel at the gym exercising with others I will stay motivated. also i can vary the program to keep from getting bored. Wish me luck.

  3. Hi Dmbrn,

Are you back to solid food now? I just got my second fill today for 0.5 cc. I am also being put on liquid diet both today and tomorrow. I don't think this fill makes much difference in terms of restriction. Are you feeling restriction with your band now? Able to lose weight? Good Luck.

Yes i am back on solids. i haven't wieghed yet because I had my fill on wednesday and am trying to hold off till this wed to weigh. I have felt retriction so far. Before i could eat bread and now I can't-especially plain. i did eat a piece of garlic toast but took very tiny bites. right now i feel like i did when i was first banded-which is a good thing. I just pray i continue with this restriction. i only have at least 20 pounds to lose to no longer be considered overweight. I pray daily for willpower, patience and endurance. I know it took a whole lot of years to put the weight on and it won't come off overnight. BUT BOY DO I WISH IT WOULD!!!

  4. Hi married, how are you doing with the fourth fill? Does the 6 small meals keep you full? Are you losing weight now?

dmbrn, have you had your second fill yet? Do you have restriction now?

I got my first fill last week - 4.4 cc. I felt somewhat restricted on the two days liquid diet following the fill. However, after I started on the regular food. I felt no restriction at all. I could keep everything down and I don't have sip Water at all. I feel like I could eat more than before the fill. I could eat 6 OZ of meat and 3 Oz of vege at dinner and feel hungry again in 3 hours. I lost a few pounds on the two days liquid diet. After at, the scale stands on a standstill point. My doctor also allows up to do a fill every two weeks. So I am going to to get another fill next Friday. Hopefully this time I would feel the right restriction.

Hi,I just got my 2nd fill today and am looking forward to getting back to losing. I am already tired of the liquid diet. I have 2.5cc but i have a smaller band. the doctor says people usually feel restriction at 2cc so i am very hopeful. I also don't have to take sips. We both must stay positive and believe everything is going to be great and before we know it we will be at our goal. Good luck.:rolleyes2:

  5. It was also very frustrating for me during those early fills--it just seemed like I would never get there. But trust that you will--it takes most people like 4 fills to get to the proper restriction, although some get there earlier. It is a shame that your doctor only does fills on Wednesday. I had the opposite problem, where my band got too tight and I needed an unfill. My doctor and his assistant are terrific about getting you in right away to get you comfortable. He even gave me an unfill between surgeries! Trust me, you think you are not happy because you aren't restricted yet, if you become too tight it is an awful experience. So just be patient and sneak up on that proper restriction--you will get there eventually. And I hope that if you become too restricted that your doctor would give you an unfill right away, and not wait a whole week until his normal Wednesday. Best of luck to you--you will get there, I promise!!

Thank you for your encouragement. everyone on this site has been so helpful and encouraging. I can always come here and find someone who understands whatever my concern is at the time. good luck to us all!!!!!!!!!!!!

  6. I am glad I am not the only one with problems feeling restriction. I have had only one fill but i feel less restriction now than before. I only felt restriction for maybe one week. I try not to feel too discouraged but I am. I had my first fill the end of January and go for the second in a few weeks. My doctor only does fills on wednesdays and i am never off on Wed. so i have to schedule way in advance them take time off work. I don't want to be too restricted but I want to feel like I did right after the surgery. I plan to tell the doctor this also. I want a GOOD FILL!!!. Right now I can eat too much before feeling satisfied and it doesn't stay with me long. I am too hungry between meals. I JUST WANT RESTRICTION. Does anybody out there understand what I am saying. Thanks

  7. Plateau's suck! I've been the same for almost 5 months now. I thought I needed more of a fill, but nope, that wasn't it. I need to just be patient and it will come off. Its my body fighting to hold on to every last ounce of fat I have left I guess. :D

I've lost only 1 pound in a month and feel very bad. I think I'd lose my mind if I went 5 months without losing. I understand plateaus but how do you get past them and back to losing. Is it just a matter of time. I keep telling myself not to worry but of course I do.;) HELP!!!!.

I am so thankful for this site because I can always find support and someone who understands my problems and feelings. THANKS!!!:(

  8. I was banded by Dr. A in October 2008, and the whole experience was wonderful. Everyone especially the doctor makes sure you are well informed. Being a nurse I am well aware of the good and bad of medial care and can say that my experience at the Almater Hospital and the staff put our American hospitals to shame. Dr, A and all the other doctors are very direct and you know upfront what you are getting into. The nursing care was excellent. The hospital was cleaner than any i have ever been in. You are given detailed information about everything you need to bring with you and need to know before you leave home. you can go back there for fills or have them done somewhere else . You are given copies of all your xrays and a full surgical report, and all your lab work. My daughter went to Mexicali before me and had nothing but good to say about it. I would highly recommend Dr. A and the mexicali Almater hospital. i have even heard about people who go back to mexicali for plastic surgery. If you haven't already checked out their website I would recommend you do so. You can also email any questions or concerns to them and they are prompt in responding. good luck. If you decide on Dr. A you won't regret it.

  9. Hi everyone, I was banded Oct 2008 and will go for my first fill on the 28th. I have lost 26 pounds so far but do feel now that it takes more food for me to be satisfied. I am looking forward to feeling again like i did when i was first banded. It is good to have a group for us folks over 50 because the concerns etc of 20 and 30 year olds just aren't the same as for us. I have never pb'd or threw up. If i take one bite too many I know it by feeling a tightness in my throat and I must stop eating. I try not to get to that point because it is not a good feeling. Good luck to all .

  10. people not saying something about my weight loss bothers me. I don't need someone to say something over and over but to be acknowleged my loosing wt. would be great. I have lost 26 pounds and only 2 people have mentioned it. My mother claims she said something but she didn't. The only ones who know about my band are my family and one friend. Some of my family members would rather concentrate on neg. things rather than pos. My coworkers all always speak on anyone's wt. gain but not loss. Maybe it's a jealousy thing because just about everyone of them is overweight. The couple of people who have mentioned my weight loss have made me feel so good and motivated. But no matter what I am going to be successful FOR ME!!!!!

  11. Hi Anne,

I found some whey Protein Powder at Walmart that is pretty good. You can mix it with Water or milk and it gives you 50gms of protein!!!. I also ordered some Unjury Protein packets (unflavored) and it mixes well with any liquids and each packet is 20gms. You can check out their wesite at Unjury.com and they send it to you quickly. I also drink K20 water by kelloggs. Also walmart and GNC have what people call protein bullets. They are small containers of protein in amounts from 27-45 gms. Some people just drink them but I mixed them in water or someother drink. They are sweet. As for Fluid intake,I basically have something sitting by me and sip all day. And I mean it took all day in the beginning. Hope this was helpful and good luck.

  12. Well, this is the first time I've had gas.. since surgery! My stomach is making crazy noises and I have this pain under my ribs... ugh! I've walked laps around my house for the last 20 min and it's not easing up.....

I'm so tired, but it hurts so I have to keep getting up and walking....

Gas is a real downer but what helped me was a heating pad and lots of GasX. I had the strip kind. My heating pad has been my best friend for the last 2 weeks. Good luck

  13. Hi ladies,I am new to the site. I was banded on Oct 20,2008.I am in the full liquid(thick) liquid phase and I think it's worst in some ways than the Clear Liquids. i must admit I have done very well with meeting my Fluid and Protein intake. I was determined to do this even before surgery. I am very proud of myself because my family have cooked and eaten all the foods i like and it was a little hard not eating any. I've done a lot of praying for strength. I can't wait to get to real food so I can be able to sit with my family, eat a little food but feel full and satisfied. I have lost 11 pounds already and I am so excited. To be able to see the wt loss keeps me encouraged and determined. I am restricted to only walking for exercise right now,but I am going to join the YMCA in a couple of weeks. Hope that I can beof help to someone and we can encourage each other through this journey.:rolleyes2:

  14. I want to have the surgery but I am so nervous

I can understand being nervous but it was so simple. Of course it is a lifetime commitment but worth it. I am so glad i did. I know it's been only a few days since my banding but i think about the future and how much better i will feel about myself after I lose weight and it makes me smile. I have and still am doing a lot of praying for strength. research and read everything you can and empower youself with knowledge and that will help. I had my banding in Mexicali Mexico;Dr. Aceves and i couldn't have been happier. Everyone was absolutely wonderful. So keep writing because this seems like a wonderful place for help and support. Good luck and God Bless.

  15. I am new to this process. My first appointment is 10/29/08. I am excited to start my journey. This site is a great support and I hope to utilize it frequently. I am a mother of 3 and a wife. I have been taking care of others for so long; including my terminally ill sister, that I believe taking care of myself is going to be a big challenge.
