    Advice please

you will find a good amount that keeps you satisfied but you also won't loose more unless you are trying. That's where I'm at right now. I had 3 unfills and 1 fill before I ended up here and I might get one more tiny fill but we will see. I normally stay at 167 but I range anywhere from 171 to 164 depending on the day. I'm okay with that range though for my height.
  2. yeah I hate that feeling so hopefully that goes away soon!

    How fast?

Thanks! I'm glad you enjoy it. Sometimes I feel like I'm just talking out of my ass. hahaha
  4. I really didn't drink enough right after surgery to feel stuck. I just made sure I was drinking super slow! Take tiny tiny sips and see if that isn't any better? I still get nauseous if I drink too quickly. How is the pain?

  5. oh yeah I had problems with gas too so don't worry it's normal! hahaha is it getting any better yet?

  6. First of all I'm in spokane. hahaha now let's answer your questions. What did you think helped you to be so successful? I had a lot of motivation to be successful. My grandmother died in 2007 and she wanted me to get this surgery and get healthy more than anything. She never got to see me this way but everything I do I do for her. Also My friends have been super supportive and have kept me on track. I had a really tough post-op diet and I remember talking to some friends and saying I just want a spoonful of Peanut Butter before going to mushies and they freaked out! hahaha They told me that there is no way they are letting me cheat even if it was only a day before I went to mushies! hahaha They have been like this every step of the way. Also my doctor helps me be successful, he is super supportive and reasures me every step of the way. When I felt like I disapointed him he always made sure to let me know how proud he was of me. I really got lucky to get such an amazing doctor! How many CC's do you have right now ? I have 6.75cc's in a 10cc band and how much exercise did you do or do now? ok so this is where I am really bad. I really don't exercise. I'm very active I just don't go to a gym and exercise. I hang out with friends a lot and just walk around town. Also my job is very physical, I'm on my feet for 8 hours doing a lot of lifting and we aren't allowed to sit while we are on the clock so it keeps me busy! And how long did it take you to get to goal? It took me 10 months and 1 day! hahaha This isn't what I expected at all. I figured that it would take me about 2 years. I honestly think that once you get your fill you are going to get right back on track. You have to let me know how your fill goes!
  7. I honestly think you are doing AMAZING with only having 4ccs!!! SERIOUSLY! If you are doing this well now think of how you will do with a little fill. You really sound motivated to get back on track. You went through something really rough I'm honestly surprised that you haven't gained. My doctor put in 3ccs in during surgery and my first fill was around 1cc if I'm remembering correctly, I remember being starving around this time and I could eat a ton! I really didn't start loosing a lot of weight until after my seccond or third fill. I think this fill will really help.
  8. That must have been rough! I'm so sorry about your loss. Did they take any liquid out of your band when you found out you were pregnant? Have you made an appointment to see your doctor? When was your last fill? Sorry that was a lot of questions in a row! hahaha P.S. I have relatives in Marysville!
  9. you know it's funny cause I was responding to your post the other day and it took me so long to write the answer that the computer wouldn't let me post it! so when I went back it was deleted! :smile2: I guess I will have to try again. So you are just in the process of looking into the band right? It's a hard choice. It took me about 2 or 3 years from thinking about getting surgery to actually getting it.
  10. I would LOVE to be your buddy!!! hahaha
  11. I used to wear a size 12w and now I wear a size 11w. I never thought I had fat feet but I guess I did! hahaha

    Odd arm pain

I had arm pain too. I had some in my wrist that felt like a bruise, that lasted about 2 months and it was from the IV. I also had some really bad pain in my shoulder that lasted almost 4 months but then all of a sudden just went away.
  15. Hey! I'm from spokane and I was just wondering if those support groups are still going on?

    Be Honest....

I'm terrified of needles so I would never be able to poke myself. I can deal with my doctor doing it but I can't do it myself. There have been 2 instances I've needed an unfill. The first time I was up all night spitting into a cup because I couldn't swallow the next morning I went to my doctors and got an unfill. The second time my doctor was on vacation and I got the flu, I needed to puke but couldn't. I called his office and they told me to go to the ER so I did. They had no idea what they were doing but I had gone through enough fills and knew enough about what supplies they needed so I walked him through it and he was able to give me an unfill. I think if I didn't have a problem with needles I wouldn't have a problem doing it myself if I was sick, but that's not going to happen.

    Getting Full = Yawning

I get migraines when I'm full. They suck! As soon as my pouch starts to empty they are gone. Also I get really bad chest pain. I don't get a runny nose when I'm full but I do if I'm about to PB.

    Pheterine

I'm perscribed phentermine by my lap-band doctor because right before my period I get really hungry and I have a hard time knowing when I'm full until I'm sick around that time of the month. I only take it about 3 times a month and it works. It helps curb my appetite. Yeah it does mess up my sleeping and if I take it for too long I get really angry which I don't like but as long as I don't take it any longer than a week I'm ok. I would never want to take it for an extended period of time but for a few times a month I really like it.

Help, looking for lap band success stories

I started at 324lbs and I'm 5'9 I originally was going to do gastric bypass because I didn't know much about the lap-band but every doctor I went to see sugested the lap-band since I'm young and it's easier if I get pregnant in the future. I'm so glad I went with the band. I'm not even a year out and I've already hit my goal(and my doctor's goal) of 170. I'm actually at 167 now. The only doctor that thought I should have RNY instead of the band was my PCP. Maybe go and talk to a few different bariatric surgeons and see what they have to say. I know I saw 3 surgeons before deciding on my doctor.
  20. I would do this again in a heartbeat! This is the best thing I've ever done for myself.
  21. awww thanks! Are you getting excited? I'm actually kind of bad about having an exercise routine. I kind of just keep busy. I hang out with friends and just walk around. Also my job is a workout and I'm there 4 days a week so that helps keep me active. hahaha Next quarter I'm going to try to be better about working out so I'm taking a fast fitness class at my local community college with some friends. It's a class where you just go in and work out when ever you have time and as long as you log in 14 hours by the end of the quarter you pass. hahaha so when do you start your pre-op diet?

  22. Hey! I answered your email before I saw this. hahaha Don't get too down on yourself it will only make you go crazy. And it's impossible to loose weight when you're stressing. What was your starting weight? Cause when you think about it on average people with the lap band only loose about 50% of their excess weight in the 1st year. So if you are looking to loose about 120lbs then you are right on track and still doing better than 50% of people with the band in the first year. Sorry I'm a math and science nerd so statistics and percentages help me put things into prespective. hahaha

    How fast?

yeah don't stress about it. I didn't loose any weight for about a month soon after surgery. Your body goes into starvation mode and it tries to hold on to all of your weight. And because you haven't had a fill yet you probably don't have too much restriction. As soon as you get some restriction you will loose again. It took me about 2 fills to really get restriciton.
