  1. Mine too but the heat bill is a killer!
  2. That pain is awful. It's been 3 years for me so I can't really remember exacty how long it lasted but I would guess it was at least a month or two. What really helped me was the chiropractor. I had him adjust my mid back and the relief was instantaneous. It would last about 2-3 days and I would go back and have him do it again. For those who have misconceptions or are unsure about chiropractic....the "cracking" sound you hear is NOT bones cracking. It's the sound of gas being released from the joints. The gas from surgery gets trapped and that's what causes the pain. Release the gas, the pain goes away!
  3. Not only do I not sweat like I used to, when everyone else is hot, I'm usually cold. While my BMI is still in the "overweight" range I have very little body fat left. I have a large frame and am pretty muscular. I think that's the problem.....I don't have any insulation left. Winter in Michigan this year about killed me. The first 2 days that it got over 90 here, everyone else was boohooing about the heat and humidity. I loved every minute of it. Finally, I wasn't freezing my a$$ off!!
  4. You haven't eaten anything in 3 days....longer if you were on a pre op liquid diet. There's nothing in there to come out. Don't worry. It's normal.
  5. What has always helped me is using a smaller plate. If you put a small amount of food on a dinner plate it looks empty giving the impression of not being enough food. Put the same amount on a salad plate or saucer and it looks like more. I have also found that if the plate is ugly I don't want to spend as much time looking at it so I put the Fiesta-ware away and bought a package of 6" Dixie Ultra paper plates. (Saves on doing dishes too!) Sometimes to force myself to take smaller bites, I eat with a pickle fork.
  6. No, I cannot feel the band, only the port and I couldn't feel that so much until I lost a substantial amount of weight.
  7. Six days for me. I worked on the psych ward at the time.
  8. I don't really have much of an appetite most days and I hate the feeling I get if I overeat. Like most bandsters, there are things that I just can't eat....bread, Pasta, red meat, french fries...other than that I pretty much eat whatever I want. I don't deprive myself because I know it won't take much to satisfy me. I take a bite and wait a couple minutes before i take the next one. The minute the hunger pains stop so do I. I've had my band for 3 years. It took a long time to get to this point. Now it's just a way of life.
  9. Stand in a doorway and wear the same or similar clothes. Take a picture every month and then make a power point of yourself shrinking!
  10. You probably weren't getting enough calories when you were working out causing your body to go into survival mode. Now that you aren't burning so many calories (I'm assuming you are still eating 1200) your body doesn't think it's being starved. I would go back to working out and kick the calories up a little.
  11. No, I'm right where I need to be. I don't ever eat til I'm full. I only eat until I'm no longer hungry.
  12. Same here. I bypassed 20 and 18. Wore a 22 for a long time. Then all of a sudden I was buying 16's.
  13. It's a good thing all my kids have grown up and moved out....I need the closet space!!!
  14. If I had an hour lunch break, I could eat AND take a nap! I'm usually good after about 4 or 5 bites!
  15. You should be able to do it. Water weight comes off pretty quickly. I have no idea if he would cancel your surgery if you didn't lose enough but I doubt it. Welcome and good luck!
  16. I couldn't agree more!
  17. SkyLily, It's not that I necessarily feel strongly about this particular topic. (Although I did see a good friend lose her band because she refused to give up the carbonation causing her band to slip.) What I feel strongly about is people being successful. It gets a little frustrating when I read posts from people asking for help because they are not losing weight or are having some other issue and then I read another post where the some of same people seem to be seeking approval to not follow their doctors orders. None of us went through this process because we wanted to fail. I understand that all doctors have different ideas but in reading here it appears that most of them say NO CARBONATION. There's a reason for that. I happen to have 100% confidence in my doctor (he's been doing lap band since 2001 and has done over 2700 of them) and will do WHATEVER he tells me to. As a result, I've been highly successful! I want that for every bandster out there. If my methods are a little rough sometimes, I apologize. But occasionally a little tough love may just be what someone needs! Cindy
  18. You're never too old to improve your health. My doctor banded a 72 year old woman a couple years ago. She has lost over 100 pounds!
  19. My post op diet was clear liquids but I could also have milk and chunk-free yogurt for added protein. Try chicken or beef broth. They count as clear liquids and will help you feel fuller longer.
  20. 12 is a beautiful number. I just hit it recently too and I started out in a 28!!! Congrats and good luck to all of you!
  21. Not really. I know a lot of bandsters (myself included) that can't eat bananas.
  22. I wouldn't worry about it. If it's what you want then you should do it. Yes, you want to be there to raise your children but your kids also deserve a happy, healthy mom. Life is full of risks. You could get hit by a bus or be the victim of a drive by. That doesn't mean you're going to barricade yourself in the house. Besides, if you did that, you could die of a carbon monoxide leak. Live your life to the fullest. There are NO guarantees!
  23. What it all boils down to is that every single one of us needs to follow our doctors instructions TO THE LETTER! While every doctor has his own ideas about the process, the bottom line is we have entrusted him with our health and futures and paid him an absurd amount of money in the process. If you can't trust his expertise either you have gone to the wrong doctor or you aren't really ready for the journey.
  24. Welcome and good luck!
