  1. So you only have a total of 1 cc? I think you really need to talk to your dr. I would stay on liquids until you can get in.
  2. You don't say how much is in your band but from what you describe I would guess that you are too tight.
  3. My doctor says no gum too but he also said that if you were to swallow it and it got stuck all he would really need to do is completely empty the band, let it fall through and put the fluid right back in.
  4. I really try to avoid eating on the run. That's a good way to get stuck. If I really feel I need something I try to stick with something liquid, protein shakes or just a cup of coffee or iced tea and hope the urge goes away. It usually does.
  5. Happens to me too after I eat. I asked the lap band nurse about it. She said it was a common side effect. I just keep a kleenex stuffed in my bra!
  6. I filled out paper work with the nurse which took about half an hour. The doctor examined me (if you can even call it that since it lasted less than a minute!) He had me lay on my back and as he pressed down on my abdomen he said "why do you want this?" I said "you're pushing on it!" That was it!!! Had my surgery 26 days later!
  7. I love Toronto. It's about a 3 hour drive from here. I live just down from Sarnia on the US side. I might think about coming but I let my passport expire and would never get back into the states if I went over. Have fun!
  8. Welcome to the land of the banded! Looks like you're one of us now!!! My first time WAS in a restaurant. Not only a restaurant...a packed restaurant inside of Comerica Park before the start of a Detroit Tigers game! I was with my son on our last "date" before he was to leave for college for the first time. I had only been on solid foods for a couple weeks. It was a hot day and we stood outside for about an hour waiting for them to open the gates. When we got in, I chugged a couple of glasses of ice Water. They brought his food, (I didnt order anything, just planned on taking a couple bites of his) I took a small bite of his burger and that's all it took. The slime and water came out of me like old faithful! Luckily, there were extra napkins on the table and I was able to put them to good use. I ran into the bathroom and had 2 or 3 more episodes. It was most horrible thing I had ever experienced. I was in there so long, my son was worried about me and called my cell phone. I didn't even have the strength to open my purse and answer it. I felt so rotten I could barely pay attention to the game. It was about the 7th inning before I started feeling ok. I learned a very valuable lesson that day!!
  9. People like to criticize what they don't understand. It makes them feel like they aren't as stupid as they really are! Quite frankly, I don't give a Damn (can I say that?) what they think of me or my choices!
  10. Maybe. Maybe not. Everyone is different.
  11. Regardless of the weather our bodies are consistently 98 degrees!

  13. Measure your chest just below your breasts and add 5 inches. If that give you an odd number round up. Measure the largest part of your breasts, usually around the nipple. If you are saggy do this wearing your best fitting bra. Subtract your band measurement from your bust measurement to get your cup size. 1 inch = A 2 inches = B 3 inches = C 4 inches = D 5 inches = DD So if your band measures 33 (+5) and your breasts measure 41 that makes you a 38C. That's your starting point. Different bras are made differently so you need to try them on and may have to tweek a little. I find that Fashion Bug bras fit me perfectly....but that's me and may not be you. Good luck!
  14. Should be fine. Lapband originated in Sweden in 1985 and was being used throughout Europe by 1993. It wasn't FDA approved in the US until 2001. They have way more experience with it than we do. You should have no trouble finding a doctor if you need one!
  15. Could you maybe pin this one so it's easier to find?
  16. I pretty much lived on jello, yogurt, carnation instant breakfast and broth. The week before surgery I put chicken and vegetables in the crock pot. When it was done, I strained it and threw away the solids. Then I put the broth in small containern the freezer in preparation for my 2 weeks of clear liquids.
  17. Steroids will cause weight gain. If you can only eat unhealthy foods are you too tight? Discuss it with your surgeon.
  18. I wouldn't worry about it getting stuck. Just don't make it too thick. For flavor, try stirring in some applesauce and cinnamon. Great job on the weight loss....You're off to a good start! Congrats!!
  19. Lemon is the cure. Suck on lemon flavored hard candy or drink lemonade. Minute maid makes a light lemonade in 2 liters or 12 packs. It's non-carbonated and only has 10 calories. I still remember how horrible that was in the liquid stage!

  21. Hard to say. If you were newly banded, I would say absolutely. There's no reason you shouldn't be able to, but I see that you were banded last November. How much have you lost so far?
  22. I love mozzarella sticks but every time I eat them I get stuck! That's not to say that you will. We're all different. You have to experiment and see what you can and cannot eat.
  23. Im 3 years. My best friend is 8 years. She was banded in 2003. About 6 weeks after surgery, she was diagnosed with a rare form of ovarian cancer. She just went back into remission for the third time last month. Throughout it all she still has been successful with her lapband and went from over 300 pounds to 160 which she has maintained. She is such a trooper and the love the heck out of her.
