  1. I never would set a goal until about 6 months ago which was about 2 1/2 years out. I picked 162 because I started at 324 and that is half. I'm still not sure about it. If I get there and decide it was wrong, I'll set a new one. On the other hand, if I get to 168 and like it I'll stay there.
  2. You can order a card directly from Allergan. https://www.lapband.com/en/mylapband/my_profile/idcard/
  3. I made my own before my surgery and froze it in small containers.
  4. My preop appt was about a month before my surgery. I ate myself stupid the first 2 weeks and then buckled down and dieted the last 2. I managed to lose 15 lbs. When you're over 300 lbs it's pretty easy to lose that much since its mostly water weight anyway.
  5. The only thing that matters is that you lose a few pounds before surgery to shrink your liver. A lot of doctors don't even require it. Mine didn't but I took it upon myself to do so. I figured if I made it easier for him, it would inevitably make it easier on myself down the road.
  6. I have the same dilemma. I also hate eggs. On the rare occasion I do go out for breakfast I either just get coffee or I might order a bran muffin or a side of bacon and maybe some whole grain toast. I know muffins and toast are carbs but I don't usually eat it all anyway. My BF is a big guy with a big appetite and I can always count on him to finish what I can't.
  7. You need to be careful about what and how much you put in your mouth at this point. Your body is still healing from surgery. You don't want to cause any damage. Your band is stitched into place and putting that volume through it could pop those stitches. That's why your doctor has you on liquids or mushies or whatever his protocol is. Give yourself time to heal. Try to find something else to occupy your mind when the thoughts of food creep in.
  8. That's great, Jenn. Congrats. I needed a dress for a special occasion last summer and after shopping and shopping for it with no luck, I wondered into a consignment shop and got exactly what I wanted for $12.
  9. My doctor encourages drinking coffee to loosen up the band in the morning. It doesn't make me hungry, it curbs my appetite....always has!
  10. That's great njgirl. The hardest part of going to the gym is putting on the clothes and getting in the car. Once there the work out feels awesome...its just getting the motivation to go!
  11. I have the same issues therefore I never eat in the morning. I drink coffee to loosen my band. On the rare occasion that I feel hungry I have a protein shake or a yogurt.
  12. You should probably set your goal to a weight that gives you a healthy BMI (<25). When I had my TT he removed 10 pounds of skin. Don't expect to see that on the scale right away, though. Due to all the swelling and drainage caused by the surgery it took almost 3 weeks to see it.
  13. I weigh myself everyday...some days more than once...but the only one that counts is first thing Tuesday mornings. My first appt, surgery and TT were all on Tuesdays so it seemed appropriate that I choose Tuesday's weight for the week.
  14. Go to bed at seven!
  15. I went back to work in six days. I was also dehydrated two days after surgery and drove myself back to the hospital twenty five miles away. I even stopped at a garage sale on the way! Lol
  16. I wish I would have taken a decent pillow. The ones at the hospital were like cardboard.
  17. Guess you showed them!!! My doctor only see lapband patients Monday afternoons and Thursday mornings. I always make my appointment for the first one of the day. That way he doesn't have time to fall behind.
  18. I usually just order off of the appetizer menu and tell them to bring it with everyone else's meal. Mealtime with loved ones isn't about the food...it's about the time spent together!
  19. If you are a lapband patient having nighttime reflux the first thing you should do is get some fluid removed!
  20. That's no true. I've lost 145 pounds and gone from a BMI of 48 to my current 26. And I'm still losing!!! Continue to do your research and make the decision that's right for you but don't let them scare you into it!
  21. I found that as the numbers on the scale started going down so did the emotional issues. Never in a million years did I think that I could ever give up the pop but honestly it was incredibly easy. I don't miss it one bit. As for the emotional eating, once I realized that it doesn't solve problems it creates them it was easy to stop doing it. When I have a bad day before I would go pig out on something, now I find something else to occupy my mind...read a book, go shopping, call a friend, hang out with my animals...anything non food related!
  22. Feels great, doesn't it? Good job!
  23. That's great. I agree with everything you said. I began to recognize the same changes in my head almost immediately after surgery. Now, three years later, those changes are still in place. I'll never go back there!
